- Well, I don't usually do TASes in SMW kaizo hacks, but this one I had to. If you haven't seen this hack yet, be aware that there are SPOILERS in this video! 🥴
Grand Poo World 3 is a KAIZO SMW HACK created by @BarbarousKing dedicated to @GrandPOOBear (that's why the hack is called Grand Poo World lol) and it's the 3rd in the sequence. This hack was released almost 1 week ago and this TAS was also done in 1 week.
This hack is, in my opinion, INCREDIBLY GOOD. The levels are creative, the soundtrack is AWESOME, there are lots of new mechanics and things I've never seen in any other SMW hack! For this reason, I decided to do a TAS on it.
It was REALLY COOL to do TAS on this hack. My sincere congratulations to Barb for creating this MASTERPIECE!
My focus was to finish all the exits as quickly as possible, however, at times I wasted time for nothing, for pure entertainment and there is certainly a lot to improve, but I liked the result 😅
This TAS was created in the first version released of this hack and contains some bugs, which are already being fixed in version 1.1. Because of this, the link of this hack is offline for now.

You may notice that the music in the "Porpoise Please" level at 27:30 and the "Tower of Fate" level at 49:45 are changed. The reason for this is that I received a copyright on the original songs for these two levels and was forced to change them. So, I took songs from the hack that fit and changed them. However, nothing changed in the gameplay, it was just a change in the music.

@GamerGee I'd guess not. Generally these types of games only give you power ups if they are necessary to pass a certain stage and make sure to take them away by the end of the level with either forced damage or one of those laser gates.

Even though I dont have the talent to play these games, the GPW series are the most impressive Mario related games Ive ever seen. Barb is gonna go down as a Mario community king. No one touches his level of quality

This TAS was amazing! It's more like 100% than just all exits. Hard mode done in the tower, and not using the skip in the final castle. Amazing job! But I guess it's hard to tell. May be Barb still has something hidden. It wouldn't surprise me to be honest. But I guess that sort of thing could possibly be looked up in lunar magic. Great work!
I didn't put 100% because I wasn't sure if I was actually completing 100% of the hack 😅 it's like you said, maybe Barb is still hiding something hehe and on lunar magic Barb blocked the hack :(

God this hack is cool. It's one thing to make a compelling kaizo level, but on top of it this game's full of secrets, and the themes and names of each level are really flavorful. So good

Toxic Tunnel is one of the most creative and fun to watch levels I've ever seen. It reminds me of Piranha Pipeway from Invictus in terms of the pace and the use of pipes to bypass obstacles, but it's still a unique apprach to the concept.

This is a God tier TAS bravo sir. The fact it only took a week is even more impressive. One thing I noticed tho; there's a shortcut through an invisible wall by the corndilly entrance in 'So long' that cuts the cape sections, possible time save there although it means no cape for the fireball and propeller sections idk which way is quicker
Thank you man! I believe that with the shortcut it is much faster, but unfortunately I only discovered the shortcut after I had already done the TAS :(

I was actually doing some TASing of this myself, for the most part yours looks more optimized but I do have to mention that I found a neat strat in the second half of Testudo that saves ~6 seconds; you can take the blue shell and carry it with jump-grabs and drops across the whole section, kind of like using a key but without throwing it. Also there might be a couple minor things I found faster in earlier levels, and room for faster overworld movement, but I don't want to discredit your work with small things :P

Thank you bro! I must say that I did this TAS in a short time, so I didn't even analyze the levels in depth. I believe you can still save a lot of time on this TAS. On the boss of the level "MMMMMM" (at 15:10), for example, I believe you can save about 6 seconds too, manipulating the RNG and making the orb spawn earlier. I discovered it was RNG after I had already done it lol

Awesome TAS. It's always cool seeing what strats people come up with to break these levels. I'm happy to see you did hard mode on Tower of Fate. It's longer but makes for a more entertaining run. I do have to mention tho that it's possible to get a better time on the chuck boss in Dreadnought. If you hit the chuck 4 times (2 with mario and 2 with the throw block) and then hit the ship twice with the throw blocks, you can take out the boss quicker. I was able to get a 19 on the timer. However you might even be able to get 20 or 21 if you optimize it a bit better. Hitting the ship doesn't do as much damage, however you also don't have to wait for the cooldown of hitting the chuck. It's still an amazing run tho
Thanks bro! I confess that I completed this TAS in a few days, so I didn't even have time to analyze all the levels in depth. There are certainly several improvements to my TAS, but it's cool to know that you can kill that chuck boss faster. I thought the hits on his ship didn't do damage.
1:04:07 The fight has a whole bunch of sick song lineups, but this one hits the hardest. Really good stuff man, this has been a fun watch each and every time!

I scrolled down to see if anyone else was talking about the Tempo Temple skip, that looks like it could potentially be RTA viable and saves a TON of time, holy crap (it could be more precise than it looks though, I'm not sure)
I think Anastasis was the most interesting level in this run. What an incredibly creative mechanic!
I didn't understand the item puzzle at all, though. The hints seemed to be completely unrelated to the items used in the solution.
To understand the puzzle, you'd better watch a streamer doing it, because I did it very quickly and you really can't understand it 😅
I like how most of the gameplay doesn't stray too much from what's intended, with some notable exceptions in Snow Crash, Tempo Temple, Tower of Fate and So Long. Nicely done.

That fangame seems to have more ideas in a single level than in the entirety of Super Mario Bros Wonder. Looks incredible.

So it turns out that there's a third Grand Poo World?! Barb must really be hard at work with these hacks.
I love some of the shortcuts in Tower of Fate where you just bypass all the intended mechanics and do a bunch of key jumps.

I know this may be a little blasphemous, but I think I like the soundtrack you replaced Tower of Fate with a little more than Barb's. The copyright issue is unfortunate, but what I like is it gives the tower a bit of a WarioWare feel, and I really like WarioWare.
