- Disneyland’s Main Street Street Electrical Parade is back, the iconic parade that is loved by millions and will run daily from August 2 through September 30, 2019.
The Main Street Electrical Parade debuted at Disneyland 47 years ago and has historically been a favorite for guests.. Fans are already sharing their excitement for its return.

@@jessecosta9483 I'm 28, for a few years, all I ever knew of the parade was the song, I grew up going to Disney World so many times, and every time we left, I'd be curled up on the back seat of my dad's old maroon Buick with a Disney World Theme park music tape playing the song. I loved it so much. For a while all I knew was SpectroMagic, and I love Spectromagic too, but the day I finally got to see the parade (and Remember it) I was so ecstatic. I always think back to it when I hear the song, standing in Liberty Square finally getting to see Elliot. I'm so glad it's back for another generation to enjoy.
Queen Evac 100% agreed. I grew up at Disneyland. My entire childhood, my grandfather was a cast member, and he would take me alllllll the time. The electrical parade is what I remember best from those days. I LOVED every bit of it, until 96 when it left us. After my grandfather passed in 2006.. I have had an annual pass. I would go with friends, girlfriends etc.. but was never “the same.” I was ecstatic as well when it returned in 2017, but was short lived as well. Now.. I am married and have a daughter. We all watched it together the other day, and my sweet baby girl LOVED IT! I saw the look I had back then, in her eyes and I lost it. I cried like a baby! We smiled, danced, and laughed.. it was truly.... MAGICAL! We look forward to watching it as many times as we can before it leaves us once more 😕. Thank you so much for sharing! #Disneyislife!

Oh wow! I don’t think people realize what this even means! I first heard and seen this parade on june 17 1972 when it first premiered down Main Street. I will never forget the robotic sounding announcer and the way the lights danced and flashed to the sound of the music. My dad loved it so much so that he bought the album they sold that played that same music so at home he would listen to it and smile and laugh. Strangely enough the robotic sounds scared me as a child as did some of the characters following the train specifically the dragon, I was very young though. My dad kept that album to this day. Every summer we would all take a trip from Simi Valley to DL to Lake Tahoe, that was the yearly summer trip. When the electric parade ended, I remember how disappointed he was. He never got to go back and see this parade ever again as he died before they brought it back. All I had was the album and our memories and now this. Thank you for bringing back these memories of this day for me.. it sure means a lot. I know my dad is watching also, smiling clapping along.

Here’s the original parade from 1972! Found this one here in you tube. Nothing beats the original sights and sounds of the original version obviously but still glad they brought it back.

I first saw this as an adult in summer of 1996 😍 & I have the same feelings.. I do clap enthusiastically 😂😅 every time I see it. It makes my heart sing & dance with great joy

Whenever this little parade hits, it's always the best time to go on the rides because everyone else is standing around watching this.
This was the most magical time in my life.
If the disneyland opens this is the way to do it with style even the kiddos in the family know the electric theme music and parade.
I haven't seen this parade since I was a kid, and I just about cried watching this. Need some Disney magic right now with all the Coronavirus stuff going on.
I love this parade! Last time I saw it was in Disney World with my mom 1992! Great memories! Thank you for sharing! She’s no longer here but I know she’s smiling down!

I think it’s so neat that the parade has pretty much remained the same for so many years. Virtually all of the floats and characters that were present when I went with my family in 1990/1991 are still there. It gives the show such a timeless, classic feel. If I have kids, we’ll definitely go to Disney World and make sure we see this parade.
I think the only one they've removed was the crocodile following the pirate ship and Captain Hook, which I suppose is a little grim to have to explain to some kids. Also I don't remember Tinkerbell's float being that magnificent!
Is it me or do the floats look a WHOLE lot better than when they did back in 2017 when it was supposedly retired?

Chris9017 I know I should probably be mad since I bought VIP tickets for one of the “last” performances before being “retired” in 2017, but as someone who grew up with this parade, even going to the very last performance for its original run in 1996, I could never be mad at Disney for bringing the Main Street Electrical Parade back.
The floats were upgraded to LED lights. They look so nice!
I guess when they heard it was gonna retire, it was so in high demand over here. Thankful that it’s back! Didn’t know this until today!
Tokyo Disneyland still has a more modernized version of Electrical Parade and it was incredible

Saw it yesterday! People began sitting along the curb at 6:00PM for the 8:45PM Parade! Crazy! Get there super early if you want a great spot!

First time I saw it was on my trip to Disneyland and I was about 7. So glad I got to see it on my 22nd birthday, and boy did I cry.
I wish this would come back to Disney world :( I saw it when I was 10 and it was like the best thing ever lol
It saddens me that I cannot bring my kids to experience this and see the joy on their faces like my dad was able to do and see the joy on the faces of my siblings and I

I started crying as soon as the music started
I remember the Disneyland Main Street Electrical Parade from the 1970's when I was a little girl, and the early 80's when I was a teenager. The music sounds so happy, and really brings a smile to my face. Such great memories! Oh, to be a kid again!
I went to Disney last September and we noticed something amazing. Tinker bell was at the end of the parade. About 2 minutes later she was also on the riverboat for fantasmic with a distinct lack of LED lights

I saw it in 2011. Me and my parents were on the exit stairs from the train station and it was a perfect view as we could see the parade going down main street.

Love this parade! I grew up in north San Diego and South OC and saw it many times. My high school band used its theme music for our entry and exit to the fb field for our half time shows. Great memories - thank you Disney😊
And they are parading down Main Street Disneyland like the original when I was a kid. I saw it in 2010 but it was in DCA

The last time I saw this parade I was in 4th grade in 2010 May. 2 weeks of joy. And I just went in July of 2018 for my 2st birthday and I was sad that there was no Main Street Electrical Parade.
I seem to recall that many years ago, the final float was escorted by a lot of very pretty girls (I think it's even in the old "Farewell" VHS video)

@@nickzangl9974 - I'm guessing that they didn't want to spend the money to hire any girls (pretty or not) to escort the float.
It is interesting that after everything they tried to replace it with flopped, that they finally threw in the towel and brought back the old classic. I've seen it in DL, MK and DCA.
A long time tradition in our family is to always boo at Cinderella's step sisters. The actresses always stay in character and ham it up. Great fun.

The Paint The Night Parade would be your most favorite. WDW might not ever heard of it.
I have to admit, when I learned they gave this a proverbial fresh coat of paint, I figured they were going to change up all the Disney characters within it. I'm incredibly yet pleasantly shocked to see that all of the classic stuff (Cinderella, Pinocchio, etc.) is still there. Bravo! (One exception...unless I missed it, Dumbo appears to have been removed.)

The song is remixes from the original but good to see an oldie come back. Disneyland is trying to do everything to get people back.
This ending is better than the inclusive ending. Walt Disney was extremely patriotic and this is more fitting.

In fact, I drove the Main Street Electrical Parade Float Vehicle 🚗 in Disney Infinity:2.0 Edition and Disney Infinity:3.0 Edition in my own Disneyland USA 🇺🇸 Toy 🧸 Box 📦 on the Play Station 🚉 3 (PS3) Video Game 🎮 Console when I was a kid 🧒 at age 10, 11, and 12 years old in Elementary School 🏫 and Middle School 🏫.
