Mud, Repair, And Racing A Storm

  • We got a wild hair and decided to put the Rodeo from the Wrecker Games on top of a shipping container. We used Big D and the Scrambler and got creative. Then a Saturday recovery of a jeep way out on top of the San Rafael Swell. He had damaged a transmission cooler line the night before. I wasn't able to go out till the next morning. I met his daughter and son in law at the exit on the highway. They had food and parts. We headed in with them following but a very muddy section of road turned them around. The repair went fairly smooth with them having grabbed all the right parts. So he followed me out and we managed to beat any of the rainstorms. We got to the pavement and it did start raining though. Thank you everyone for watching and supporting us.

Matt's off road recovery with the largest off road wrecker, awesome machine with still some teething issues being corrected. Fab Rat's, nice wrecker with a very good dose of the skinny pedal! I know all three of you have different terrain to tow out of. But the combination of Trail Mater's awesome capability, and your towing expertise always amazes me! You never fail to impress! Laughed my a-- off putting the rig on top of the container! Keep the video's coming!

Your mud, Made me remember back in the early early fifties late 40s. I was just 8 or nine, we were visiting in Liberal Kansas. My dad wanted to go rabit hunting out in the farm country out side of Liberal, He was raised on farm.
It had just rained that night. We were traveling a country farm road in really good shape EXCEPT! it was gray goose goo mud. The kind you make clay pots from.
My dads car was an almost new 48 Pontiac 4 door standard shift on the column.
We went down a very low spot in the road but the car wouldnt climb up in forward or reverse, in either direction, it would move but only inches and then stop.
So he put me in the drivers seat put it in gear and let it idle but it wouldnt move. He was out side the car. and went to the back of the car and started pushing, he had showen me how to touch the gas peddle which i could barely reach. he said HIT the gas i did he pushed and the car got up the rise. we were out. Never found any rabits.

That view was stunning - thank you for sharing it with us. :-) That situation was a prime example that it don't matter how good a driver you are (as demonstrated by his skill driving out!) one small part failure can mean you are stranded. He stated that he only had a couple of ounces of water left and obviously had no food so the situation would have rapidly got worse in just a few hours. Moral of the story: always have a grab bag with emergency supplies in it, especially WAY more water than you think you might need! Bless you Rory.
