no really ive been to jamaica for a birthday, i spent atleast an entire day out and about, eating patties. they are flakey, almost like a pastry, i can never find a good recipe because everyone makes them so thick... i miss being in jamaica and being able to get the real thing, the frozen ones and the yt videos on how to make them never compare 😩😩

Tbh most Jamaicans don't make their own patties. I've eaten about 2000+ (probably more if I'm being honest) patties in my life and I have never made one. You want a patty you just go to Juicy beef or Tastes it's nice to see a homemade version tho.

That old lady made the best beef patty because even she loved it. If you love your own cooking that’s a sign it’s good. It may not be to everyone’s taste bud but you have to cook for you and your family and every family has its own style of cooking.

There was a Jamaican restaurant in Fresno, CA and I used to devour these. Here in west TX all I can find are frozen dollar tree ones. :( I also miss the curry goat yum
