    True. Spending endless hours in a small space with your significant other will either bring you closer, or be the cause of a divorce! My wife of 30 years and I go on at least one road trip each year! Always a good time;

      We averaged 56.9mph. You two can do better. Go get it.

    I did the same with my wife in the car. I was going to college with a beautiful cherry red BMW 325CI I spent 6 years of my youth saving up for. The vehicle was having typical BMW head light electrical issues. I remember changing out the bulb, ignitor, ballast, HID computer, and at one point I downgraded the entire system to fix the issue. No matter how much money I spent, those dang head lights still had issues. I was driving home from the in-laws with my wife in the car when another bulb died. I turned to my wife and told her, "Just you watch. I'm going to get pulled over." I kid you not, a quarter mile down the road I saw a cop waiting to pounce on his next victim. I noticed the cop was driving a Ford mini-SUV and quickly came to the conclusion that he wouldn't have the agility needed to keep up with my vehicle. The next thought that came to mind was, "I do not have the time to fix the car," because I was taking 4 math classes that semester for engineering school. So, I gunned it, completely forgetting all that could happen if I had gotten caught. I took an immediate turn, weaving the car throughout the neighborhood with the police lights flashing in the distance trying to keep up. I remember glancing at the rearview mirror watching the red and blue lights in hot pursuit. After several quick maneuvers, we parked the car next to a residential property, got out, and started walking. This was when the much faster police cruisers started showing up, looking for someone with broken head lights. My wife and I had no way of getting home, so my wife took this opportunity to tell me how terrible of a person I was for losing the policeman, since she felt guilty. After around 30 minutes of the police cruisers driving around and us not being able to go home. I called the neighborhood police station and explained to a very nice lady what happened. She transferred me to the policeman who begin telling me how stupid I was for not letting him pull me over to give me a fix it ticket. I told him sorry over and over and explained my story. This was when the cop took down my address and told me, "Never do it again." At which point he let me go and my wife and I drove home. The very next day, I hotwired the head lights of the BMW to be directly connected to battery with a Home Depot light switch.

      We sure understand headlight troubles here. My husband and I are definitely car enthusiasts but we love our tracks because we need them. We haul so much stuff up and down a mountain between the Anaheim California area that we work and live in to the Big Bear Lake cabin that we hope to retire in. One night we were in the truck that sadly constantly had this problem with the headlights I had warned him that it did My husband hadn't been driving it lately I had for the business we had and he didn't drive it anymore in the evening like he used to. But he didn't ever catch it so he wasn't able to know what the problem was. But one night about 11:00 p.m. as we were coming down this mountain very twisting winding two lane road where you never know if a deer bobcat or anything else is jumping out into the road in front of you or some idiot is parked alongside the road or in the road because of the view and they want to take a picture yeah it's a pretty amazing even at night to take pictures there You just don't know what you're going to find around a curve we go around a curve we see deer we're thinking oh how beautiful and all of a sudden we are in blackness We have no lights both of us immediately yelled out My husband hit the brakes and stopped the trick because he didn't know at that moment what we were facing there was no moon!!! Usually there would be a moon enough moonlight to even drive by sometimes but this night was the no moon pitch blackness you can see the stars above so what were you to do using a flashlight I got out and in front of my husband walked very slowly looking for a way for him to pull off the road so he could look and see what was wrong with the headlights. Luckily there was no traffic but that was due to it being so late at night and of course it wasn't as busy as it is 20 years later. He was able to pull off the road then he looked to see what the problem was He was not able to find it immediately. It was not a fuse situation and it was not something to do with wiring that he could see easily. So how do we get down the road. My husband is a MacGyver figures out things pretty quickly. We had several flashlights in the truck. Using duct tape he tapes two flashlights to the hood of the truck. 😮 Yes we drove down the mountain with flashlights attached to the hood of the truck so we could see. Just as we were getting down to the bottom of the mountain all of a sudden of course we hit a bump and the lights came back on. Not trusting that they would come on fully My husband went ahead and kept the flashlights on and drove another few miles just to make sure we then headed on in to home which was at the base of the mountain at that time.😅 The next morning instead of going into work both of us worked on the track and he finally found what the problem was there was loose wiring towards the fuse box so he ran all new wiring replacing the old wiring into the fuse box. Never had any trouble after that.

    I ran from the cops with my mom in the car when I was 18... she never uses curse words and was saying... what are you doing? Stop this car right now!
    Then she said, ok turn right here, now right again, turn up that drive way there is a row of trees to block the view...
    Then when we got away she said, IF you ever do that again I am telling your father!

    I was in a serious relationship a bunch of years back and I took my then girlfriend on an adventure trip to the Galápagos Islands. You fly to the islands and then sail from island to island seeing the different landscapes and thus the slightly different animals. So we spent 10 days on a small boat in a cabin the size of a walk in closet. We’d traveled together before but this was very different. By day 8, she was ready to throw me overboard and I was ready to jump. We got back to the US and decided we could be real good friends but that we weren’t going to be forever partners. In reality it was a real good trip although a bit painful there for a while. We’ve both moved on to find other relationships but are still quite fond of each other and just know that there was no way in hell we could stay together forever.

    Huh, I had a different experience driving from OH to FL with my GF. I as well am somewhat of a lead foot, albeit not as fast as the video above, and no pull overs on my trip. However I’ve been put on notice that we will be flying anytime we leave the state from now on. I guess she didn’t like doing 20-30 over.

    Very smooth trying to hit up the trooper for a donation :) Also the Arizona troopers are a tough bunch. Got pulled over in a Porsche near the Grand Canyon well in excess and it took a lot of talking to get away with just a warning.

    Be wary here in AZ, the AZ DPS(state troopers)are starting to use laser up around Flagstaff, found that out the hard way when I got pinched in my Dodge Challenger R/T doing 82 in a 65(speed drops from 75 to 65 and he was sitting about 50 yds. from the sign in the median)in Flagstaff area, went ahead and pulled over because the radar detector had given me a brief laser warning which generally means you are busted. Officer was reasonably cool about it and I was written a $138 ticket for "wasting finite resources(gasoline)", no points on license or insurance, just a road use fine essentially.
    Great video ditching the cops, love it! You got lucky, man.

    I once got a triple digit ticket in New Mexico and escorted to the judge's house for a fine by two state cruisers. Back on the road, I immediately brought it back up to speed. My GF said, you are not going to continue speeding, are you? Well yeah, the officers are back with the judge dividing up the money.

    You deserved and should have received at least those two tickets! Why do you think you are so special that you cross the country doing around 10o mph! You put many people at risk by your apparent feeling of entitlement. The Cannonball was over, yet you thought that why not speed excessively when there was no reason.Bad example to be retelling this recklessness with such pride.

      Driving at a safe speed on a wide open road at night when there’s no traffic shouldn’t be illegal. He doesn’t deserve being punished if he wasn’t doing anything wrong. The law isn’t some supreme dictator of morality. It’s just a list of all the things the government will lock you in a box or shoot you for.

    • @MikeJohnson-ld9rn
      @MikeJohnson-ld9rn Год назад

      I like it when you think that this guy only drives 100 mph at night! That is probably worse. Are you serious ? Are all roads straight ? Are there no unknown road conditions, debris, an accident , just out of sight ? Speed limits are designed to allow every vehicle to have an opportunity for This Tha reasonable chance to be safe. I am glad that you have decided that the limits are only suggestions. I would be very surprised if you would take your family for a cross country trip and drive at that speed.

      @DetroitThrowers where do you live? Not in my state. Also, why do the cannon ballers have 19 radar detectors and hire computer guys to scope out every inch of the route , 24 hours a day, if cops do not care anyway ?
