I love how Angelina breaks down what's actually going on inside the car and sandro breaks it down...for the boys
For the boys!
Very well said. You can tell he's been around his fair share of sketchy stuff and people and said no I'm going this way but it still gives him that smile. You do you, carrying on camper. Lol Props to him.
For the boys!
So many people used to whine that Angelina didn't know anything or explain anything so now she's explaining everything like a boss
The dream team right there.
I like how Sandro doesn't even bother explaining stuff anymore because he knows that Angelina is going to do it, so he just does his own thing 😎
hes just here for us boys
@thegamerodin Angelina is there for the boys I mean, look at the thumbnail 🍆➡️ 😲 😉
I came here to say the same thing. Sandro is the best of us and i'm not taking any comments. lol
That could be the editing, but whatever, it works!
Shes a natural teacher. She can't help it.
Don't know how many times I've heard Sandro call them "zippy ties", but it never gets old. :)
Zippy zippy:)
Can these two not just be a part of the team at this point, they're so great and y'all need mechanics 😂
The mere thought made me so happy to think about. They’d probably blow up less engines but we’d also get some fun changes to hi-low.
Hell yeah. Bring back money pit and make the two of them the hosts!!
If they don't make Angelina and Sandro permanent members of the panel, they are going to start their own channel and take us with them. Whomever makes these decisions had better get on the ball. These two make me look for new videos.
I swear Angelina and Sandro get better every episode. I didn’t know I could want to have a beer with Sandro anymore than I already did!
I dont care about cars like that, or drive.. and they make me love learning about this

Yeah that one rolled me lmfao
That was so good
Crazy to discover Ms.A is on here. Being a former student. Loved her amazing personality. She had endless knowledge. She was a is a amazing teacher in RCC automotive program
Sandro is 100% a real dude. Such a genuinely nice funny dude.
You can tell Angelina's been teaching for a while because she takes time to explain things calmly and slowly so people have time to hear and process what she's saying.
Yea she is fantastic at explaining things with just the right amount of words.
She reminds me of my professor. He takes the time to explain and does a lot of hands on, visual demonstrations and always asks if it makes sense. If it doesn’t, he tries to explain it differently.
Lol she asks in the first clip if that an A/C compressor, it clearly isnt.... very unskilled.....
Also the clean hands... nobody has hands like that when on the tools 😅
Angelina&Sandro best real mechanics
They sound so much like my own cousins it's ridiculous. Great personalities
Plus Sandro sounds like he's tried everything twice 😅

These two are such a great duo. Want to see them all the time! Sandro understands the boys mentality, and Angelina explaining the actual "science" behind it for dums-dums like me is just fantastic.
That last clip looked different than Angelina was describing. The brake line was shot near the master cylinder. MacGyver pulled the line off of the MC (this part was not shown) then reconnected the line to the MC where it was punctured. Then he refilled the reservoir with the PS fluid.
That said, I don't know how MacGyver would figure out that the line was punctured in the engine compartment rather than anywhere else along the brake lines.
Also, PS fluid can be clear, and brake fluid can be red. This was also the 80s.
I don't know enough to say whether the brake hack would work, but when I was younger I remember reading that many MacGyver hacks were things that would work in real life. The show, however, would leave out important steps to prevent people from actually trying them (well that, and obviously time constraints).
In cases like these the handbrake is always going to save you because it is mechanical (a literal cable going to your back wheels, like a bicycle brake) and not hydraulic. Especially so with a ratcheting one in the center console, which you can even "modulate" up to a point. We were forced to do it for a bit in our old family car... so trust me, in case of emergencies it works.
An important thing to note also is if you put a petroleum based fluid like oil, trans fluid, or power steering fluid into your brake system it will straight up swell and destroy all your seals, hoses, and any rubber bit in your brake system because those parts weren't made to stand up against petroleum since DOT 3 brake fluid is alcohol and polyethylene glycol based. It is also important to mention DOT 5 fluids are silicone based and require non rubber parts and certain Rolls Royce hydro fluid systems are mineral oil based. Dot 3 and 4 are mixable in a pinch since they are both PG/alcohol based but to get the full benefits of DOT 4 fluid you'd need to clear the DOT 3 out and refill with just DOT 4.
@@foxisretrofitting4556 If there's people after you trying to kill you, none of that probably shouldn't be your foremost concern.
@@blechtic I mean the end result would be the same if it wasn't a rolls. No brakes either way and then it's an unnecessary risk to climb out there.
Angelina is great at explaining things. her students are lucky to have her
Not really. She acts like she knows a lot but she is wrong many times. I.e. most manufacturers still use throttle cables to this day. Most cars didn't stop until the mid 10s
@@Erickindle-dq3jdShe didn't say nobody's using throttle cables. She said they began to switch in the 2000s
@Erickindle-dq3jd
Mechanics Reply to Hate Comments
@@Erickindle-dq3jdI like the fact that you call her wrong yet are incredibly wrong yourself. Most manufactures don't use throttle cables at all and the general rule is if it has an ECU it has drive by wire.
In regards to dates, she said that the transfer started in the 2000s not that all manufactures did it in that decade, which is true and in fact most newly manufactured models had drive by wire by the end of the 00's; I remember Reddit and discussion boards in the mid 00's complaining about the switch and how hard it was to find new models with throttle cables.
@@nathanthom8176 Maybe it depends where you're from but they started using ecus in the early 80s. And I guess your right about today's cars mostly being dbw but that wasn't the case 5 years ago
Man, I need a video with Sandro and Angelina together. The mix between Angelina's knowledge and Sandro's mechanical debauchery would make a video for the ages

Mechanical debauchery is a quote i'm now stealing
The driveshaft bushing fix and Sandro’s response for how long it’ll last had me in tears!!!! I’ve thought about that but never executed!
Fun story for the throttle cable thing. Years ago, i was working at a gas station, and one of the guys there had an old firebird from the 70s that was sitting behind the garage forever. While i was dumping trash at the dumpster, one of the techs came out to move it for him. It was then that i realized that there was a string routed through the hole in the firewall where the pedal was supposed to go. So he turns the thing over, and goes to pull it up behind the boss man's new Escalade, and tugs on the damn string once too hard, and bumps straight into the Caddy. We all rush to see the damage, myself, the tech that was moving the car, and one other tech that had come out for a smoke. This was the generation of firebird with the pointed sheet metal front end, and lucky for the guy messing with it, it only touched the toe hitch ball. His exact words were "just walk away". No sooner do we do so, and i go back to the dumpster, than boss man comes around the other side of the building, and goes to his Caddy, none the wiser.
I get the feeling that Sandro is the kind of guy who is always thinking "I mean it's not how I would have done it but I appreciate the creativity"
I love how Sandro is always like “oh yeah that’s sick” then on the other hand Angelina explains every clip to us. Dynamic duo
This right here is what makes them such a great combo for these videos. Both are so clearly knowledgeable, but they don't simply deliver the same response. Dynamic as all heck duo!

Man, I love these dudes.
Sandro's the most chill, the funniest mechanic I've seen.
Would love to spend a few days at his shop, he has the best delivery.
Top skills to you all. for bringing him on.
One thing to know about the window hack -- which is undeniably badass -- is that parts designed for 120VAC get away with running 10x the power through the same gauge wire as 12VDC, because amperage is what determines wire size. What that means in English is that if you have a 15A cable in a house with 120VAC, it can carry 1800W, enough to run a space heater. That same 15A cable in a car can only power 180W, enough to maybe run the radiator fan.
12V systems hold cars back and have led to lots of sleepless nights for electrical engineers on how to not spend $$$ on copper for all the wiring, plus the weight of the wiring. There are two reasons we still stick with 12V instead of going higher voltage: higher voltages present more shock danger because they can overcome skin resistance, and the most reliable lead acid batteries love to be arrayed in 6 cells of 2V each.
Between Sandro's "zippy ties" and Angelina's "honk honk" and "the squish", this episode was awesome lol

In the Army we called this BDAR(Battle Damage Assessment and Repair). We had kits which provided material which would hopefully get our equipment back up and running. As the Marines like to say, " Improvise, adapt and overcome!" Whatever gets you back home 😮😂 Great video guys. I'm a retired military mechanic and enjoy these videos. Keep up the great work!

Sandro is such a chill dude. He funny af, and quick with the jokes. Great person to keep bringing back.
I have a radiator hose that rubs on the frame rail so I wrapped the hose with layers of duct tape. 2 years later, it still works! 😅
I love these two so much. And that Sandro has finally been allowed to swear naturally xD
5:25 Sandro understands what those of us who live in the literal middle of nowhere sometimes have to resort to.
it was epic. Him just calmly saying if you go back in that clip... then the whole room bust out laughing
This whole thing was a flashback to my childhood in the middle of nowhere. My friends big brother once picked me up for school and my friend had to hold the string tied to the throttle every time his brother needed to shift. I also had to hold the window crank to keep it from failing so it felt like operating a submarine or something.
This. When there's one "mechanic" in town and it's your crazy neighbour's grandson, sometimes you just gotta look at what you already have and just... Get to it.
@@mausm7534 The ignition wiring on one of my old tractors was found by a rat, said fuck it and bypassed it. We start the thing by sparking the starter with a battery cable and turn it off with the fuel cutoff. Took far less time to do that than it would have been to "fix" it the right way.
Angelina is AMAZING. I learn so much, while having a great time. And Sandro is always fantastic.

Angelina out here trying to educate us and Sandro just understands all of the jokes with the boys. I just love every video with them.
Here's a fun one for you. When automatic windshield wipers were first developed they ran on vacuum. The engine would build enough vacuum in a vac can, and the wipers would be pulled to one side and would open up a bleed valve to vent into the vac-can. Once the wiper completed its pass, a spring would return it to neutral while the vacuum can recharged. Most folks would just disconnect the arm going to the vacuum system and manually run the wipers.
I love the light switch one. Did something similar when the connections went bad in my 89 Mustang, used a “doorbell” button zip tied to the steering wheel. Lead to an interesting exchange one night when I got pulled over. Cop saw it, leaned his head into my window and promptly banged his head on my doorframe when he pressed it and the horn went off.

I've done a few dodgy repairs to get by over the years:
* Hose clamps and drink cans to fix a split exhaust
* Hose clamps and some coolant hose offcuts to cover a hole in a metal cooling pipe
* Zip ties to hold the shifter cables in place after the boot that holds them and lets the cable slide tore.
* Jump pack in place of the battery to get it home when it kept dying
* Terminal block to adapt stereo wiring
* Stockings as an airfilter on a carby
* Manual floor switch to bypass broken headlight relay
Im sure there is stuff I cant think of right now.

1:20 One of the things I love about old G body Chevy Van's with Inline 6 or V8 engines in them is how easy it is to improvise missing parts or to get them running enough to get them home. I once drove an '82 Chevy G10 Van with a 250 Inline 6 home after buying it by bringing a junky spare monojet carb with me to swap out the dead one, pinned the choke open on the carb with a spring from a dead Gamestop PS2 steering wheel set, used a throttle return spring from a '91 Cadillac, and left the engine cover off so I could use my hand to work the throttle. It was positioned perfectly. Since it was an automatic and I'm ambidextrous I could steer with my left hand and use the throttle with my right. With my Van a '79 with a 350 V8, I've driven the throttle by hand on my Quadrajet to get to work and to get a replacement when my cable snapped one day. My shifter lever broke off on the column one time in a parking lot on a hill one night after work and I had to keep my foot on the brake while I undid the engine cover. I managed to get my L shaped tire iron within my reach in the cab and slid it into the shift linkage to get it into park. I was then able to disconnect the linkage and secure the iron into the fork. I drove it home that way in below freezing weather. I made a new shifter lever from one I took off a 2004 GMC Envoy in the junkyard. Writing this I starting to think.... If someone wants me to do some videos on my van give me a like XD
Absolutely in love with these series!

Angelinas knowledge and ability to convey that to others is astonishing !
On my 1982 Goldwing with sidecar, my Pull-throttle cable end snapped off, going uphill, passing a semi. Having the throttle immediately cut off and managing to coast over to the side, then remove the carbs enough to connect the Push-throttle cable in it's place was real fun since all the throttle cables have custom ends on them designed to fit nicely into the controls and hold them in place.
The "im just gonna ride home tonight" turned into "guess im going back to that last campground" by the time i got that swapped over.
If i'd had a tiny set of visegrips with at the time, i would have tied or taped them to the throttle and would have been on my way.
Got those in the trunk now, along with a replacement cable set.

The one jury-rig fix I've done was using a large paper clip to reattach my throttle cable to my 1986 Cutlass Salon's carbeurator. This was in 1995-96. The clip that was holding the cable to the carbeurator broke when I was in mid-turn.
It was enough to get my car to the shop for repair.

The broken cable @ 1:20 ... i have DONE THAT in an old Bedford van ... only the cable was so short, that I had a friend sit on the floor, and pull the cable, while I was driving ... well, we got home at least. 🙂

Guys, this series is a masterpiece. Don't stop it, and with Angelina and Sandro. Tks
Angelina & Sandro are THE best two people on the mechanic reacts series
I broke a clutch cable on a bike and used a vise grip on the end of the cable to get going again. Rode it through Vancouver traffic to get home, then replaced the cable.
I've also definitely had to jumper a few starter solenoids. One was a similar old ford pickup with a broken linkage in the column, and I ran a wire to a pushbutton in the dash to fix it. 15+ years later and it still works.
Listening to Sandro and Angelina explain things makes me feel good about what I've learned over the years. I know exactly what they're gonna explain every time. I never went to school and learned on the job. I always felt slightly inadequate in the field but they make me realise how much I actually know and I feel like that's a special ability in its own they provide.
Learning on the job can be the best way. All practical
As a newbie DIY shade tree mechanic, it makes me feel good that I know some of these words now...
@keijimorita1849 I agree for the most part. But there's some certain aspects of diagnosis and wiring that I wish i had gone to school for. I've changed careers slightly adjacent now though. I love working on vehicles... just not for a career.
@TheInaneAsylum I'm glad that these videos aid people that want to do their own work. Nothing wrong with a shade tree. It's all the better when you can take it knowledge instead of winging it like a lot of others do.
Angelina and Sandro is a killer combo
Wait a second, I remember that episode of MacGiver. That's a 1970 Volvo 164, and thats a washer fluid hose he's squirting fluid in the master cylinder with! Never noticed that until now...those cars have pretty big hoses with braiding over them for the power steering! Dang TV shows!😅
A good friend of mine picked me up years ago in his VW Squareback. The throttle cable had broken and he was waiting for a new one. He did the same thing the guy in the van had done. He removed the engine cover in the back of the car and ran a string from there to the front and was using the string to work the throttle. This car had a manual transmission, so it was quite a feat of coordination. I couldn't believe it, but it worked!
If they were local to me I’d absolutely pay for classes taught by these two.

Back in the 90's when we were dating, my girlfriend (now my wife) was driving a beater Vanagon. The throttle cable snapped while she was driving up a hill, so I bailed over the back seat, pulled up the engine cover, and ran the throttle manually all the way home. I earned some SERIOUS mechanic cred that day.
The extension cord trick for the window may work, but I would definitely recommend making sure the part of the male side is the non-powered side
