When the cop asked if it was his car and if he was driving he shouldn't have said anything.

Yeah that's a good tip, but the police officer was blocking anyone from entering the track until he found the driver of the car. So basically it would have been the smart thing to say "I want a lawyer" and you are correct in suggesting that, but it would have held up everyone until it was resolved.
@@cadmando18 Yeah.. but two things here..

@@Knutterbife Yes, you are right. So far, i have been lucky in that each time I was well in excess of the limit, I seem to be slowing down, or really good on the brakes when the cop clocks me. Have only been let off once, and a part of this video rang true for me. Late at night on a 4 lane road in Illinois. Guy pulls up next to me in a lifted old truck. We are stopped at the light waiting for it to turn green. I notice he is revving and lurching forward so I say hell, my G8 can outrun him. Nail the gas on the green and this 45mph limited road now had my car and a lifted pickup nearing triple digits. both of us are idiots because it is about be a fairly big train crossing and we are going to go flying if neither of us lets up. Luckily the other lane of traffic just ahead of us lights up like someone won a door prize or something. I panic and nail the brakes, turn in just before the train crossing to the 7-11. Truck is foot to the floor and just booking it. Cop goes after that guy. I think he gave the cop the slip by turning down a street or something. Cop doubled back and pulls in behind my car while i'm checking out with a drink and some snacks. i get in the drivers seat and don't even attempt to start the car, just roll the window down and get out my license. He shines his flashlight into the car, asks for my license and askes me what the hell i was thinking. I told him I was being stupid on my way home from work. He tosses me back my license and says "Slow down and stop being stupid". He rolls out like he was on a mission to find that truck. In the end my take away was similar to Jimbo. Don't run from the cops, and if you do for some dumb reason, just keep going, just not in a straight line.

Was coming up to my exit, and had to get around a semi. Doing a little over 100 and as I pass the semi and come out in front of it, I spot the cop. I was about half way down the exit ramp before I saw the lights come on, and at this point there is probably about half a mile between the cop and I. Well I don't slow down till I'm at the intersection, and overjoyed that no one was in front of me and the light was green. Darted around the turn, and a tad bit down the road dipped into an apartment complex before zipping into an empty spot. I came to a stop, and about 2 sec later I see the cop zoom past me with light and siren going.
Now he very well could have just been responding to a call, and was busy answering dispatch when I passed him. That would explain his delayed reaction in coming after me. I like to believe that he was coming after me though, and I got away.
Funny thing about all this though, is the apartment complex is in the part of town that has a predominantly black community. As I'm looking around, I see a few groups of black dudes looking at me, big smiles on their face. They saw how quick I came in and got in that spot, then they saw the cop wiz past. Me listening to the new intro Audio like wtf happened how long have I been gone
I completely agree, you should never run from the cops. But once in a great while the situation is just right to do it. When I was in high school, I ditched a cop while driving a 1972 Volkswagen supe beetle; true story.
I was probably doing 45-50 in a 25 mph zone on a back country road in hilly New England. The cop passed me going in the opposite direction and in my rearview mirror I saw his break lights come on, he kicked on his red and blue roof lights and started to turn around.
Knowing the road well, and that an sharp bend was coming right up, I "floored it" getting up to about 55mph going around the corner and losing sight of the cruiser in my rearview mirror. About 50 yards after the corner was a side road that lead downhill and maybe 100 yards to the town line. I took the corner and again "floored it" going downhill all the while expecting to see the flashing lights show up behind me. They never did.
The way I figure it, the cop got turned around, and went racing up the road, around the corner, and kept going straight figuring I was just up the road, but I was gone. I stuck to the back roads in the town over and made my way home - across the state line - it is New England afterall and our states are small. This does have some advantages.
So that's my claim to fame. I outran a police car in a 72' beetle!

I think the reason they go after one person alone is cuz it’s just easier on their end vs a couple guys they gotta book process n impound

I was stopped doing 110, in a large city. It was late, like 11pm. I'm guessing he may have been off duty, but kept his car at his house. He let me go, probably because he didn't want to deal with me and the paperwork. Told me if I got any infractions in the next 6 months he would come personally arrest me. Turns out, he couldn't do that legally soo I got away with it.
I got pulled over once doing tripple digits. Problem for the cop was that he was in an unmarked cruiser and wasn't running radar at the time so didn't know how fast I was going. He did tell me he was doing 85 when I blew by him so after some conversation, he ticketed me for 65 in a 55. The best part is that in Rhode Island where I live, if you have no moving infractions for three years you can go to traffic court and plead "good driving record" and they will dismiss the case. You can literally do this once every three years and I've done it twice so I know it works!
He should have said to the cop: Hey, uh... I'm actually supposed to be getting out of jail, not going back in...
You got yourself a "Welcome to the Carolinas" greeting card...remember you cannot outrun a Motorola, especially in a stickered up exotic. That sticks out like a turd in a punch bowl. Just be glad you weren't in the clink long enough to become an inmates "Portal"
I've personally been nailed for 145 in a 75 (in the middle of Mineral County, Montana), and 125 in a 65 (in San Jose, California)... both times, I pulled over immediately, turned off the engine immediately, and went into full fledged "You got me, I have no excuse, sir" mode. Mineral County Sheriff wrote me for 95 in a 75, and CHP wrote me for 90 in a 65. I thoroughly deserved to be arrested... goes to show you though, if you pull over fast, treat them with respect, and you don't have much of a police record - it'll usually go well for you, but not without consequence.
Mid race I said to myself "i'm gonna make him regret buying that car", as I put freight train lengths on other driver I blew past a speed trap, 3 police cars came after me, I immediately pulled, long story short, cop said "I'm supposed to take you in, but you didn't run and was honest, here is your ticket have a good night"
Got caught running one time. Turned probably 15 times in a subdivision, got to a dead end and parked at a house. Cop rolled up a few minutes later and said he heard the loud exhaust and could tell where I was going. He believed I never saw him and wrote up a reckless driving ticket. Was best case scenario.
It wouldn't have done much good to keep running because there's nothing out there. The next town is Kershaw, which is a Mayberry town with nowhere to hide. It's my parents' hometown and my Great Uncle used to manage Carolina Motorsports Park before his passing. You can hear cars and bikes screaming at the park from 10+ miles away.

Kershaw County native here. I'm glad to hear the deputy was courteous and professional, even if he had to haul Jimbo off to the slammer.
I’ve driven that road a million times and never hit triple digits. What a boss 😂
Yeah never run from the police, their radios can go much faster than any car. If you are going to try and evade, know that you will probably lose your license depending on the state, you'll go to jail, you'll have your vehicle impounded and you will have a very hard time getting car insurance. Also if you are going to be driving over the bounds of the rules of the road, it would be a very good idea to know your rights very well and know exactly what to say if you do get pulled over.
I Got pulled over 121 in a 55. Stopped before he was able to turn around. He had to right the ticket for the 121 because I have a CDL.But he let me drive away. Because I didn't run. My lawyer got it dropped to a cracked windshield and a 1k fine. With 6 months of driving supervision.
Biggest reason not to run is (depending where you are) you can be charged and convicted of felony evasion. Getting arrested and a earning very costly ticket is one thing if you’re caught doing 100+, but a felony conviction is no laughing matter. It will follow you the rest of your life. It could keep you from getting a great job, renting a nice apartment, or even from owning firearms. Please just pull over and take the ticket.
I've been in this exact same situation where I ran, I saw the cop found the car where I parked it. I walked up to him and said "Are you looking for me?", he just said I was driving a little fast and he let me go.
I live right near Kershaw. The three counties in that part of South Carolina is notorious for extremely difficult traffic enforcement. I don’t blame him for running
i feel like it’s about commitment. if he would’ve smashed instantly he could’ve lost him easily. after letting off the gas and bringing the speed down you might as well pull it over
Weird, cause I feel like it’s about doing the right thing and just pulling over.
The only person I’ve ever heard of getting away from the cops, was a guy who had drove through the center median in a pickup truck, sped down the wrong way of the highway from the cops. Then booked it off into the backroads of the bush up here in Canada. Dad saw the whole thing go down just before pulling off with his truck into a hotel. For the night. As I understand it, it was a stolen vehicle. That they never caught the guy, after he hit the backroads in the bushes.
If you lose line-of-sight, you NEVER turn right. That is the easy turn to make (not crossing any potential traffic), so that is what they're trained to do if they lose sight of you.
“Achieved the best outcome possible” better have been some kind of deferred adjudication or diversion program. This is exactly the kind of behavior that makes all car people (and especially motorcycle people) look bad. Props to this guy for being so honest about everything though.
No.1 rule of driving/riding in packs, never be lead or last. the "theory" is if they chase, you only have to out run the slowest in the group
As someone else has said, be courteous, but don't answer any questions. That's what lawyers are for. 99% of the time, cops don't have enough evidence to hold up in a trial. Your admittance of guilt is 100% of their case.
I love any Jimbo story not just because the stories are great, but because he loves Lamborghini and he played Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2.
I've been stopped at 141 mph. The cop thanked me for stopping, wrote me for 75 in a 55. He said towing the car is a PITA.
Moral of the story is don't be dumb enough to go to the place nearby where you were meeting up with a bunch of exotic cars with stickers all over your car to easily identify which car was your vehicle. It sounded like he even left fresh tire skid marks right outside the place for the cop.
I lived in Kershaw, SC for most of my life so far and I'll say that they always have 1 or 2 cops waiting/patrolling when events or meets happen. Usually they wait at the gas station that's at the entrance of the park or like this truck sit on a sand road and get people as they go by.
What I learned from these video

@@alfieboy4022 well you could keep running till your out of site and then try to hide in a non descriptive place, but yeah it’s pretty hard to out run radios.

I made a very rude remark about writing my fkn ticket An hurry the hell up. He asked me why I was acting the way I was. I explained why an was let go without even a warning.
You’re 5th amendment is a valuable thing. You talked yourself into cuffs. And don’t run from cops! He probably saw your tire marks when you u-turned around the sign and already knew about the rally and where it was headed.
New title: Here's why you NEVER run from the cops (Unless you know you can)
Three bad times caught big time red handed.Stopped every time.Twice let go for pulling over.Once pinched.
I got nabbed for 131 mph in a 65 zone on the highway in 2011 (2008 Infiniti G35x sedan with Stillen exhaust and brakes). I fought the 12-point ticket with a local lawyer and came out with $750 lawyer fee, $256 fine for 4-point careless driving (not reckless, not speeding), and 40 hours of community service. That was the last ticket I ever got or deserved. The highway patrolman laughed that I'd upped his record for the fastest ticket given among his peers. PS: the G35driver dot com forum posts says the 35x AWD model is limited to 130mph, so his laser was pretty close.
Got pulled over for going 120 in a 65 and got a verbal warning lol
Moral of the story is always run from the cops, but, ONLY if you know you can get away
I'll never forget the first time I outran a cop. Most important rule is don't let them get their lights on, at least not within visual range.
New intro: 4/10
I remember I got my first ticket when I was 6. I was racing at Hometown and I sped past a police Crown Vic while doing 200mph. I was driving a Yellow Lamborghini Diablo SV with Black SV decals down the sides. After I saw the cop I took a large swooping right hander flat out and got the Diablo sideways before straightening it out and hitting a massive jump through a small wooden tunnel. I must've gotten about 3 seconds of hangtime! Anyway, when they finally pulled me over, the cop let me of with a warning! Those were the good old days!
The moral isn't don't run, the moral is, if you're going to run, don't pull over right after and tell the cop what you did
I'm 5 wins 0 losses in running (last was almost 30 years ago) but if you don't have a plan and a very good chance of success don't.
Moral of the story is to hide car and claim to nothing.
I got pulled over going well over 100 on a crotch rocket in my misspent youth. Saw the lights flick on, pulled over ASAP and waited what seemed like forever for the cop to catch up. By the time he got to me, I had my helmet, gloves and jacket off, wallet out.
First question out of the police officer's mouth was, "If you tried to run, could I catch you?"
After a moment of thought, because how do you answer that? My response was, "Not by yourself."
Got a warning. Honestly, I don't think he had any idea how fast I was actually going, just that I was moving.
Sounds familiar just got a ticket in California 120 mph in my 88 Mazda RX7, officer said he doesn't have any clue how fast I was going so he wrote it for 95mph very nice officer
Speed to work.
Hide.
Gets shut down til I come out.
Co-workers give me God status. 👍
