Never heard of this before & am working on an intricate design that has been giving me problems to weed, so will defintely try this technique. Thanks for a really clear tutorial.
Thank you! I learned a lot from this video! I never thought about using a weeding box for layering. I’ve always made registration marks. And that takes more time. Using the weeding box was so much simpler.
WOW you have made this look so achievable, I only use 1 colour as I could not get more than one to line up or look right thank you for taking the time to show this
This is such an amazing tool! Thank you SO much for sharing this. I love your blogs, emails & easy to follow video tutorials. Tfs your time & talent 😊👍❤
Thank you very much Angie for all your hard work! I have watched many of your videos, and they are soooooo helpful! My cricut explore air 2 arrived today and i love it! And found it easy to use thanks to you!
This is a fantastic video, Angie. I’m currently struggling with a project that I wanted to use a weeding box for but kept messing up on my canvas - I used slice for one one part of my design to have some text be cut out & wasn’t sure that would work after adding my weeding box & attaching since of course they then become the same colour. Slicing again wasn’t the way to go as it made everything cut out. I see now that part of my issue was not putting a weeding box around the one part that is a different colour. Do you think I should slice out my text after I add the weeding box to the parts that are the same colour to then create the cut out text from the one area or would I still need to weed out those pieces anyway? I’d love to see an updated video for this topic, if possible, to show how slicing parts can help & re: newer combine, etc might help or hinder. Thank you!!
@@AngieHolden Thank you, Angie! No, just two colours in my whole design with the majority the same colour, so with your great video, I was better able to understand that I only need two weeding boxes & that I needed to ensure I didn’t attach the wrong elements together. My intention with the sliced out text is for my blank to show through on the final project & realized that I would have to weed out the letters of the sliced out text to get that effect anyway, so definitely don’t need to use slice again just because I’m adding the weeding box 😳
I’m having issues with weeding it wants to move around and it’s not cutting all the way through no matter what setting I use more pressure nothing is working mine never come off that easy it’s still stuck to the vinyl not the backing help idk what I’m doing wrong I’m using cricut vinyl to do it with
Ok, lol! I have to start reading better! I saw this video in the subscription & thought it said Wedding Boxes-Why & How to Use Them! LOL! This is cool, though!
Burnishing down well. Maybe it has a coating that is making it not adhere? Not sure what that would be. Try wiping the wood down with rubbing alcohol and see if that removes it.
I have one important question about your reading boxes I went through and made my five reading boxes with their colors behind them so that I could identify each one of the colors at the particular time when I click on make it I don’t get the separation that you get in your boxes all mine shows is a little piece up in the corner for a red light a red truck a Christmas tree but they’re all in small pieces so they’re not pulled out in the reading box the way you’re showing it what am I missing
interesting but not everyone is sponsored by cricut to afford to lose so much vinyl. Too bad that in almost every video there is so much mess. it would be interesting to show how to do these projects without all these unnecessary losses 😒
@@AngieHolden Of course she's interesting like the others, otherwise I wouldn't watch your videos. But if you could also show how to "save" vinyl and not have so much loss, that would be nice too

I plan to try this for the glass cutting boards. It's really hard for me to keep straight. Thank you for this video
Thank you so much for a great tutorial. Now I won't have to work so hard.
Ugh! I needed this and I saw this about 3-4 years ago and of course couldn’t find it. Thanks again for the update 🥰
Ugh... You make things seem so easy... Thanks.
You can do it!
Brilliant idea. It may use more vinyl, but you get the exact colors in its exact place. Thanks for sharing dear.
Thank you! I learned a lot from this video! I never thought about using a weeding box for layering. I’ve always made registration marks. And that takes more time. Using the weeding box was so much simpler.
Wonderful!
You're a genius! This is amazing. It makes placing designs so much easier. Thank you so very much Angie!!!

You’re welcome 😊
I have never got to layer yet because I have been to scared I would waste vinyl. But this helped me so much.
This is absolutely brilliant--one of those things that make you say, "why didn't I think of that?"
Thanks!
Wow, that was really interesting! I have to keep this one in mind. Thanks Angie!
What no contour? You are a genius❤️

If you want your text to be another color, then another box would be needed.
@@AngieHolden Thank you, Angie! You too!!
very nice 👍👍
Thank you very much!
Thanks for showing us this technique. I really like the design you used, did you purchase it somewhere that you can share?
It is in Cricut Design Space as an image!
#M25EC7650 is the number for it
I’m having issues with weeding it wants to move around and it’s not cutting all the way through no matter what setting I use more pressure nothing is working mine never come off that easy it’s still stuck to the vinyl not the backing help idk what I’m doing wrong I’m using cricut vinyl to do it with
Can you clarify when you say it wants to move around? I am not sure what issue you are having?
Is there a way of doing this with layering HTV?
Not really.
Ok, lol! I have to start reading better! I saw this video in the subscription & thought it said Wedding Boxes-Why & How to Use Them! LOL! This is cool, though!
Can you do this for a canvas?
I never use adhesive vinyl on a canvas. I just have not had much luck with it.
Will it work the same for doing HTV ?
You can definitely use weeding boxes for HTV! However, you wouldn't want to press the weeding box to your surface.
will this stop the little pieces from attaching its self to the vinyl and loosing them i can never get small pieces to weed properly i am a newbie
For the really small pieces you usually just have to go slow and sometimes hold them down with your weeding tool.

Hi Angie! I can't find the svgs for this.
I found it in cricut images!!
is there a special kind of wood you use i tried using the small shinny cutting boards from dollar tree and it wont stick
No I have used a ton of different blanks with vinyl.
@@AngieHolden how do you get it to stick
Burnishing down well. Maybe it has a coating that is making it not adhere? Not sure what that would be. Try wiping the wood down with rubbing alcohol and see if that removes it.
@@AngieHolden thanks I'll try
would weeding boxes be a waste of vinyl?
It can use extra vinyl but there are some designs that I think it is worth it!
For each color, click the box and the pieces and click attach.
Thanks very much for the information I just didn’t catch that last part about attaching them all it works very well now thank you.
Great tip, but seems wasteful for layering
It is not for every project but a savior for more complicated layering.
interesting but not everyone is sponsored by cricut to afford to lose so much vinyl. Too bad that in almost every video there is so much mess. it would be interesting to show how to do these projects without all these unnecessary losses 😒
