I am a nubby to the new machines and I just discovered your videos, I am learning so much, I love the way you explain everything, so simple and well executed. I am thrilled to I have you as my Cricut instructor, thank you SO much.
I am blown away! What a great tutorial on layering multiple colors of HTV so you just heat press one time! I was amazed that you decided to cut a hole between the sun and the words to allow for the bird to touch the tote bag! I'm definitely going to be using this technique. I love your tutorials, Thanks!!
Hi Angie ! I know this is an earlier video from this year, but I'm gonna watch you closely on how to do this, been wanting to a LONG time now. I just LOVE how meticulous and articulate you are with the details on how to do certain things. Keep Up The Good Work !!
Amazing!! I just bought my explorer and had watched many videos for beginners, YOU ARE THE BEST INSTRUCTOR, well explained step by step. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you !! Thank you very much! I have been concerned about the whole concept of layering and i had myself convinced it was much more complicated than this. You explained and demonstrated it so clearly. Now I can’t wait to try it out on a project!
great video, i think all that was missing is an red arrow for when you are moving around. othere than that i think i got it. thanks angie your the best
Thanks so much Angie, I love all of your videos. So clear and understandable. One question, wouldn't it be easier to weed the iron on when it's still on the mat? Then it would be a little more manageable. Just making a tote bag, can't wait to see how it turns out! Many, many thanks...k
Wow - great video - I have thought of doing a tote bag but I think for my first project I would keep my design to the size of my Cricut press - I’m nervous about it, and confident at the same time - lol
Omg I've been doing this for a year trying to get my business going I do printing sublimation and mugs and now I'm starting shirts and clothing and I was so scared to layer cuz I Was DOING IT WRONG LOL thank u sooo much
Your videos are awesome! I just purchased my first Cricut and I am excited to get started. I have a feeling that I am going to want to put vinyl on everything. :)
Great demonstration of layering HTV! I recently bought a 9x9 Easypress and the larger tote (among other things) and was so daring if I would be able to put a larger design on the tote than the size of my press. Thank you for explaining this. Now my question is.......can I layer over I fusible ink as well? And can I use an infusible ink design that's larger than my 9x9 press? Thanks for the great videos!
Can you do a tutorial on fixing htv mistakes, such as corners that start to stick to the clear protective sheet but then stick to the shirt but become sort of shriveled looking, if that makes sense? Is there a way to fix vinyl boo-bbos without having to remove a whole design piece? TIA
I know with Cricut Patterned they say only use as a top layer. I have seen other people use on the bottom though. I like just regular everyday iron-on for my bottom layer though. I find I don't have to be as cautious with heat with it.
I’m glad I watched this video before making my first shirt since I was going to use a glitter htv base and the regular htv over it but I flipped it when you said not to use a glitter base but I was wondering why? Would it not adhere as well?
Hi Angie, thank you for this tutorial. I'm really new to this. I'd like to design my own T-shirts but I realize that I cannot do 4 color process, can I? I've a graphic designer for 30 years and this is totally new to me. Is there an Easy Press I can use to do 4 color process? thank you!
This layering technique can be used for as many colors of HTV as you would like. If you print your designs, you would need to research other printing options.
Do you recommend HTV or infusible ink for burlap or canvas bags? For canvas, is one more washing machine friendly than the other or is there an additional step to protect the design from washing?
what is that white sheet that says Cricut on it as a protective sheet? I am about to layer some vinyls of the 1st time and was going to use a teflon sheet. Thank you for this video.
Does the vinyl come with the clear transfer paper on it, or did you add the transfer paper? I ordered HTV for shirts and the vinyl has a sort of wax paper backing, which you peel away before you iron the vinyl onto the shirt. But that means you can't have a design that has separate peices. What type should I be looking for?
Most HTV does come with the clear. If it doesn't, it may be a patterned HTV that needs a heat transfer mask. That is a bit more complicated but you can see do the small pieces.
So you mentioned not to use glitter iron on as the bottom layer. What is the reason? I have a purple glitter star that I was going to use as the bottom with glitter and iron layers on tops. Will this not work on a tshirt
The rough texture of the glitter will not allow the top layer to adhere to the surface. There are some glitter HTV products that are smooth and those would probably work okay.
Why do you cover it? I talked to cricut and they said just use the clear part that the htv is stuck to. They said they can't guarantee it will be a good if parchment paper or anything is used between the 2. I have a parrot so definitely can't use teflon, but I'm very curious why a lot of people use parchment paper when cricut says not to. I love your tutorial, just very curious.
Abby I am trying to layer two colours onto 1 initial but my letters C have a tail on one colour even thought they are made same size and letters..I know you did something recently about matching perfectly ..help..
I'm still so confused. I'm trying to make a multicolored iron on decal. So when I load the paper, do I load 1 color at a time? How did your cut come out with two colors if you only put in a pink sheet of vinyl? Someone help me out here.
17:4817:5017:51 I am new to cricut. My design space on my HP laptop is set up differently than what you show here. I can not find the button for to change colors. Ugh ! Help & Thank You
i am trying to do a iron on of "Knuckles" from Sonic hedghog for my grandsons i could get the black outline to separate from the picture but was having trouble on how to do the other colors in the picture . i bought the SVG so I dont have that problem .but couldnt get it to contour or slice Help please deb
The one I am using is from Cricut but they don't make them anymore. And NO they can't replace butcher paper. You want something disposable when working with Infusible Ink and this would not be.
Thank you! I use the Silhouette Business Edition program and didn't see any of the settings you used. Great tutorial. I'm going to try and adapt in my program.
I am a nubby to the new machines and I just discovered your videos, I am learning so much, I love the way you explain everything, so simple and well executed. I am thrilled to I have you as my Cricut instructor, thank you SO much.

Thank you so much!
That vinyl on the mat process is genius!
Thanks!
great video, i think all that was missing is an red arrow for when you are moving around. othere than that i think i got it. thanks angie your the best
You made this soooo easy! I tried it and my 3rd layer was glitter. Great results!! Thanks so much!
That is awesome!
Thanks so much Cindi is right, this is the best layering HTV instructional I've seen!
Excellent tutorial thank you. About to try layering for first time. Wish me luck!
Thanks so much Angie, I love all of your videos. So clear and understandable. One question, wouldn't it be easier to weed the iron on when it's still on the mat? Then it would be a little more manageable.
Just making a tote bag, can't wait to see how it turns out! Many, many thanks...k
I do that sometimes! I like that for small designs but you can use it for both.
Wow - great video - I have thought of doing a tote bag but I think for my first project I would keep my design to the size of my Cricut press - I’m nervous about it, and confident at the same time - lol
Go for it!
Omg I've been doing this for a year trying to get my business going I do printing sublimation and mugs and now I'm starting shirts and clothing and I was so scared to layer cuz I Was DOING IT WRONG LOL thank u sooo much
No problem!
You’ve given me courage to dive in! Thanks for the concise direction in this video!
You can do it!
You have helped me so much in all 3 videos I've seen so far, thank you! I'm going to checkout more.
Happy to help!
You’re the best cricut explainer. I have not purchased mine yet
Great tutorial. Easy to understand. You make it easy and clear. Thank you!!
Glad it was helpful!
I learn so much from your videos. I didn't know the trick you showed for loading the 12 X 24 mat. Can't wait to try it!
Hope you enjoy it!
HI Angie - thanks for sharing this video tutorial. Your work is impeccable and you are so thorough.....keep up the good work !!
Thank you so much!
When I get to master half the skills you have, I'll be a legend.
Ha! Thanks!
Thanks Angie! I was wondering if it was possible to put HTV over HTV and as always you answered my question! :)
Of course!
Hey, you’re good at this! This is explained so well. You did all the thinking for me. Thanks!
Your videos are awesome! I just purchased my first Cricut and I am excited to get started. I have a feeling that I am going to want to put vinyl on everything. :)
Good luck!!

You can do one larger than your press just as I have done here. I would, however, try to put the colors together and not press one one top of another.
Can you do a tutorial on fixing htv mistakes, such as corners that start to stick to the clear protective sheet but then stick to the shirt but become sort of shriveled looking, if that makes sense? Is there a way to fix vinyl boo-bbos without having to remove a whole design piece? TIA
I LOVE watching your videos! I'm so new to this and you go exactly at my pace. 🙏
So glad!
Excellent tutorial. Thank you!
Great tutorial! Have you layered with patterned htv? Can it be top and bottom layer? Also what do you recommend as a bottom layer htv ? Preferences ?
I know with Cricut Patterned they say only use as a top layer. I have seen other people use on the bottom though. I like just regular everyday iron-on for my bottom layer though. I find I don't have to be as cautious with heat with it.
Thank you so much, your my favorite you do a fantastic job explaining everything.
I'm learning so much.

I’m glad I watched this video before making my first shirt since I was going to use a glitter htv base and the regular htv over it but I flipped it when you said not to use a glitter base but I was wondering why? Would it not adhere as well?
It would not adhere well to the rough surface of the glitter HTV.
you are amazing thank you for all your videos you literally have a gift for teaching thank you again Angie !
Wow, thank you!
Thanks again well done as usual Angie.
Thanks!
Thanks for this! I'm surprised you don't burn the bottom layer on the the 3 layer design.. heated 3 times?
Yep no issues!
Do you recommend HTV or infusible ink for burlap or canvas bags? For canvas, is one more washing machine friendly than the other or is there an additional step to protect the design from washing?
To use Infusbile Ink, you bag will need to be at least 65% polyester. If it isn't, use HTV. No other steps are required for washing.
Thank you again. You are such a great teacher. Can you use a regular iron?
I never have luck with an iron so I don't use one.
what is that white sheet that says Cricut on it as a protective sheet? I am about to layer some vinyls of the 1st time and was going to use a teflon sheet. Thank you for this video.
It is a teflon sheet. Cricut used to make them but they actually don't any longer.
This was very helpful, thank you!
I'm so glad!
this is a fab video, thankyou for sharing.
Great tips! If I may ask, where did you get the white Cricut teflon sheet you used over top of the iron-on?
Cricut does not make those any more but you can order a teflon sheet from Amazon.
Excellent tutorial!!
Great tutorial!! Thank you 🙏
If we apply htv on a t-shirt who is 60% of cotton and 40%of polyester do you set your easy press for cotton or polyester
Usually there is a cotton/poly blend time/temp.
Does the vinyl come with the clear transfer paper on it, or did you add the transfer paper? I ordered HTV for shirts and the vinyl has a sort of wax paper backing, which you peel away before you iron the vinyl onto the shirt. But that means you can't have a design that has separate peices. Thank you so much! You are an awesome Instructor!!
Happy to help!
Excellent explanation 🤩 thank you so much 😇
Great video. Thank you for sharing! Subscribed!
I just got my easy press. Do I always need the teflon sheet when doing the iron on?
Not at all! Just when you don't have a carrier sheet or you have layers like this.
She explains so well…
Thanks!
If you have to apply one layer after an other do you press just for half the time at the first layers and the full time just for the last layers
Correct!
Mmm the circle does not stick after 16 seconds!! Is it just me ? I pulled and I got like wrinkled spots… looked terrible
You need to try it after 16 seconds. If you are peeling back and it is not stuck, press again.
Thanks. That is super helpful.
You can literally reuse the carrier sheet or use something like parchment. I have used both and no issues either way.
your videos are really good thank you
Beautiful job.
Great tutorial! Thanks!
Your awesome..thank you Angie
You are so welcome!
Excellent tuto
Awesome information.
Excellent Video - thank you ..!!
Is layering on wood the same procedure for layering?
The same steps would apply!
RE: Print heat transfer , does the print side go down? Do I mirror?
Try this: ruclips.net/video/ujNoOjmQyjo/видео.html
When layering on top. Would it come off once you wash and dry a shirt? I’m scared it would not last as much
It is just as permanent as it is on the shirt.
Ok so my opinion is….I bought your book!
How do you get multiple layers onto the transfer paper?
I only pressed one layer at a time. So one layer per transfer.
Abby I am trying to layer two colours onto 1 initial but my letters C have a tail on one colour even thought they are made same size and letters..I know you did something recently about matching perfectly ..help..
You can get some shrinking. Try pressing your first layer for less time.
Very helpful video
Glad to hear that!
So helpful! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I'm still so confused. I'm trying to make a multicolored iron on decal. So when I load the paper, do I load 1 color at a time? How did your cut come out with two colors if you only put in a pink sheet of vinyl? Someone help me out here.
Yes cut each sheet individually. I didn't show my machine cutting every color.
Need a video lesson on printable iron on vinyl
Try this: ruclips.net/video/ujNoOjmQyjo/видео.html
Great video, thank you!
Glad you liked it!
17:48 17:50 17:51 I am new to cricut. My design space on my HP laptop is set up differently than what you show here. I can not find the button for to change colors. Ugh ! Help & Thank You
Design Space changes regularly and this video is older. Try the color box next to the operation pull down.
@@AngieHolden, Thank You 😊
I have a sweatshirt that has profanity on it. I want to cover it up the word with htv. It is possible to cover over with htv right?
Maybe?? It would depend on what that is made of.
@@AngieHolden How do I tell??
i am trying to do a iron on of "Knuckles" from Sonic hedghog for my grandsons i could get the black outline to separate from the picture but was having trouble on how to do the other colors in the picture . i bought the SVG so I dont have that problem .but couldnt get it to contour or slice Help please deb
Try ungrouping the SVG. Slice works only on two pieces at a time. Contour just pick one of the objects.
Thank you.
where did you get the teflon sheet? and can that replace butcher paper when doing infusible ink?
The one I am using is from Cricut but they don't make them anymore. And NO they can't replace butcher paper. You want something disposable when working with Infusible Ink and this would not be.
@@AngieHolden ok great ty so much for info! do you have a suggestion for teflon sheet since cricut doesnt make it anymore?
Literally any of them will work!
You are awesome! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
That was confusing using two different colors. I will need more help. I am totally loss but youre still amazing at teaching
Not sure what your question is but I am happy to help.
Can I layer HTV glitter on top of regular HTV?
Glitter on top works! Glitter on the bottom is the issue.
@@AngieHolden thank you so much!!!
What design program are you using?
Cricut Design Space
Thank you! I use the Silhouette Business Edition program and didn't see any of the settings you used. Great tutorial. I'm going to try and adapt in my program.
everytime i cut the iron on it cuts the tape part thats facing down what am i doing wrong?
Sounds like you are cutting too deep. I would try a different material setting. The washi sheet setting is a bit thinner.
Thank you I finally made something you helped me so much with your videos.
Great to hear!
Thank you you are the best
No problem!
Thanks so helpful
Glad it helped
What is the white sheet you are using
Teflon sheet. Cricut no longer makes them but you can find similar ones on Amazon.
I keep using my Joy. I have not even opened up my maker.
Is it RUclips that determines how many ads are put on your videos? They are loading your videos. I really enjoy these videos though.
It is mostly them yes. Sorry about that.
How do you use the HTV on both sides.
I would just put the EasyPress mat inside the bag and press it on. You can put your EasyPress INSIDE the bag in that case to press from the back.
