Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, Let the Circle Be Unbroken, The Road to Memphis, and All the Days Past, All the Days to Come are all deserving to be made into movies with modern technology. The books are amazing and deserving of so much more attention. So sad that this is the only movie made and its not even fully available to watch in completion.

The weird part is that the beginning of this movie, when "papa" gets shot, doesn't happen until page 211(in chapter 10) in the book.

That's because this is the shortened, butchered version of the movie. The original was a 3-part miniseries with many more scenes. I remember recording it from the TV during reruns, and watched it many times as a kid. Wish I still had it.

It sucks that that’s when the movie starts because, even though it would’ve been hard in the 70s, I would’ve loved to see the bus crash in movie form

2 months late but i'd say the movie isnt as accurate to the book and the book explains more than the movie did. The movie felt rushed.

I noticed that it doesn't show the kids going to school and getting covered in mud because of the bus driver inside the movie rather than what it talks about in the book. And kids don't say mud eater to LM.
