The 140--Series: In my opinion the best cars Volvo ever built and yours is in great shape for its age ( I've welded a lott rustier 140's than yours is over the years) .
For the windscreen frame repair I would recommend to take out the metal clips which are the main cause of rust in this section an replace the trim with the chrome and rubber frame from the 200-Series with plastic clips applied to the glass so you can apply grease in the groove to prevent further rust for years.
In my 35+ Stock of 140's the majority of them were coloured "100". This colour must have been very popular in the late sixties and early seventies.
I've never seen an AC in this models (perhaps it wasn' available in our not so hot country). Of the 50+ Volvos I had there was only one with AC: A 164 TE of 1974. Also the carburetter is new for me, I think it is no Volvo genuine part.
Make that car roadworthy and put it in traffic. You'll be surprided how good it feels to drive a Volvo 140.
(My daily driver is a 145 from 1969 (with split rear side window) and I never want to have another car).
    Greetings from Kiel / Germany.

Don't tell anyone I said it, but the early 140's had the most beautiful interior. It was all downhill for decades after all of Sweden got toxoplasmosis and threw elegance away. Can't find joy in 240 on up. I say this as the somewhat biased owner of a turbo swapped 144s. If you want to see it, plznotickets is the channel of record.

A 142s with slim bumpers would be my ideal Volvo, especially in rally spec; this could be an awesome car. Is there the possibility to put later model seats in the front, delete the rear seat to make way for a race car style safety cage and squeeze a turbo engine under the bonnet? A fantastic find, it really should be a keeper! Keep up the excellent work!

They came in grey only with black vinyl interior , rubber floormats and no headrests. These air ducts ran from the heater core to the rear windoes and jets would defrost the window.

Negative battery cable goes to the battery tray. In addition to the hold down clamp eyebolt hole, there's another bolt hole that accepts a 5/16" thread bolt, if I remember correctly, that holds the other end of the cable to the tray. Engine is grounded to the body with a thick ground strap that goes between the driver's frame rail and the block. I wound up using a 240 cable on my '73 145E, since I was dealing with a parasitic drain on the battery. Attached the short end to the stock location, then threaded a bolt into the side of the block with the long cable end attached to that. Drain issue went away.
I am kinda surprised the coil lasted as long as it apparently did. Friend of the family had the identical car, except a 1970 model. Coil failed in 1994. Became tempermental, then just stopped running a couple blocks away from our old house.
Kinda surprised that James Keller (vwbusman66) hasn't tried to buy this yet.

Hey Dean! Really lover your channel. You mentioned Pertronix to replace the points. I have a 82 244 (Canadian spec) B21A/Stromberg purchased new by my grandfather. I'm about to embark on replacing the points with my mechanic with an optical system by FAST (formerly CraneCAM). I already have the kit. Issue with the points is that they get out of whack relatively fast and my mechanic diagnosed a loose distributor shaft as the culprit. Asides a rebuild of the distributor he recommended the optical kit versus the magnetic Pertronix. Told me that the shaft play would have no impact on the newer setup. Just wondering if you have any experience or opinions on this conversation? Thanks so much!

Not too many work on these and apprently Bosch no longer supplies parts either. I found on ebay someone who would send a rebuilt updated magnetic unit in full... . I might get that anyway as an extra parr. Will keep you posted on how it goes with the optical unit. I'm looking forward to a smoother operation than the points 😊..
