This car is from back when Pontiac really did “build excitement.” Do a full resto on this. Great car!
Agree.. the 68's sold so badly, they are now very rare!!! it was never my favorite style, I have a 66, but it is definitely a keeper..
Anyone else vote for a restoration on this Grand Prix? Love that grill man!
I like the “hockey stick” taillights as well.
Vote all you want, but HE has to provide the labor and money!
Wowzers, the boot (trunk) on that is almost as big as most of the cars here in the UK 🇬🇧
Probably one of the sexiest cars of the sixties. Coke-bottle side view, bucket seats, console, hidden headlights,Pontiac beak, skirts...
Let’s clean it up and get it driving. Definitely worth the save. Can’t wait for the finish of the big camper
Gotta admit, I teared up just a little when I saw that water pump being sprayed Pontiac blue. And the fender skirts are magnificent.
I’ve had several Grand Prix’s. My favorite car. Miss my Pontiacs. Make it run.
Thank you for saving the old Pontiac ! I had a 1967 those cars had so much character !
My uncle had a 72. Bought it new. I love the body style. I can’t believe someone left that sweetheart to rot. I’m glad y'all saved her.
I love that you are saving the Pontiacs
so nice to see Father and Son working together you cant imagine what that means to a pop
It took me a while to believe they were father and son, such a lovely, warm relationship going on there, just having good old fashioned fun, what's not to like?
Amen to that. And to the son. I lost my dad when i was 22 and he was 52. Far too young for a lovely man to go. I miss him every day and I am 76 now.
Seeing these two lads caring and sharing all this fun doing what they love to do is brilliant.
I like the smell of old gas. It means I'm working on something worth saving.
I used to own a 68 Grand Prix back in the early 80's. I unfortunately had to sell it as it had a radiator leak and I ended up burning up the motor because my GP didn't have gauges. All it had were idiot lights and by the time my overheat light came on it was too late. I melted 2 pistons and 4 valves on one side of the motor. I always loved the look of the 68. It had the retractable headlights and the "L" shaped tail lights in the rear bumper. Great body lines too! My GP had the 400 small block in it though. Not the big block. I'd love to get another one but those things cost a fortune to find a decent one. Good find sir!!!!!
There's no "big block" or "small block" Pontiac. From 326 to 455, they all share the same external dimensions. Not sure about the '50s 267 or the lame ass 80s 301, though.
The boat is a runner, like to see more of this.
Man, I love that old Falcon wagon over there, in the background!!
When are you dropping another video?
First 68 gran Prix. I’ve. Seen. Love it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Its a old beast but you and your dad will revive it brilliant job
Yes more more more on this car!👍👍👍 It needs one of your famous beatifications!😆
Amazing! Anyone who's ever worked on a car got excited when it turned over.
The Pontiac Grand Prix has a great looking design imo, and this one doesn't seem to even have a dent anywhere, super clean!
These V8 engines sound terrific!!
You're not old enough yet to have that elbow torque click. Love the channel.
Another great video! Please, please take that tint off of those windows!! I know we have bigger fish to fry but ASAP!!
I love old Pontiacs especially the grand prix's. 69 grand prix is my dream car. That old grand prix is really a sharp looking car and it will be awesome if you can get it to run and drive again.
That's an awesome car. Pontiac made some great looking cars. You DEFINITELY need to get rid of those rear wheel skirts and open up the rear wheels. Look forward to future videos.
Thanks for prepping the engine properly prior to start up I can't stand when someone says let's throw gas in the carb and see how it runs. Great job!
My quess from a good look of the power plaint that is powered with a 428 big block. Good luck with this rare classic Pontiac.
I had a 1968 Grand Prix - its a very nice cruiser
Best cars are in your birth year, 68 has a lot of nice looking cars ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Man, that car is freakin' cool. I love the hidden headlights and the fender skirts. Let me know if you ever want to sell her
Nice That Pontiac deserves to be back on the road!
Great video! Love my 68 LeMans. Did notice you’ve got the wire from the starter hooked to the wrong post on the alternator. Which is why it’s not charging. Good luck with that beauty!
I love the old Pontiacs, I love all of those old body styles the bigger the better 😎😎
Fun video to watch, always enjoy them. You and Dad should swing by whatever airport that seems to be close by. Maybe do a video on this big radials I keep hearing overhead. 😂
The Engine Will sure like that Fresh Oil!💪💪💪💪👍👍
Nice resurrection on the old girl. I drove Pontiacs for years, my last a '76 Golden Anniversary GP with T-tops. I'd love to find one of these and do the same thing. Really look forward to your videos.
🗿my neighbor had a 66 2+2, 4spd car that sparked my interest eary on. Glad you are the one putting this one back on the road. Thanks for sharing 👍💯
My dad had a blue one when I was a kid. I loved that car.
That is an awesome old Pontiac! Can't wait for the restoration
Nice looking Pontiac. Lots of potential.
I love y’all’s videos. That engine would go perfect in the Firebird. The transmission that’s in the Firebirds bell housing should bolt right up and that engine would complement that car. And hold on to your hats.
Myrtle Beach the hoodie I live 64 miles from that beach man nice Pontiac
I ordered a 76 LJ from the dealer back in the day. Most comfortable ride around. Drove it for 17 years till rust got the better of it. Wide track Pontiac
I'm new to this channel,,....but got to say,,,I need too high five u guys, more then five times,,,u guy r awesome ,,,that ride is SUPER COOL,,,,,, from El Paso Texas,,,,,,,
Looking forward to the clean up on this one.
60's pontiac are works of art.
That car is worth saving ! Great body styling 👌
Nice car, one of my buddies had a 71 Grand Prix in High School. I'd clean that thing up, Fic what needs fixing and drive the wheels off of it.
You guys always seem to get these old cars running. Good job as always. Kerry
I like your way of rescuing old vehicles. Plus, the charging system will work when you have it all hooked up and have the correct alternator on it!😁👍
Love those old Pontiac's
I know I’m late to the party, but I am happy you painted the new water pump the correct engine color for a Pontiac 400.
My mother used to drive a Pontiac Wagon with the 455 in it. What a monster. Sure wish we could have kept it,
love this rescue please finish her interesting body style for the Grand Prix
Another great find! Bring her back and have fun!! Onward!
16:30 the look! 😂 perfect.
Great looking car and in good condition well worth restoring.
Beautiful Pontiac. She definitely deserves the love you are giving her.
It looks cool and very complete
Nice find good job bringing her back to life
Looks like it had a Maaco Special paint job. Apart from that looks solid and complete and has all the trim. Being out of manufacture for some time Pontiacs are now more rare and desirable. I agree the steering wheel looks great.
Only needs drive, you never wanna go backwards anyway.👍🇨🇦
This would make a nice daily driver all fixed up
Good to see you and your dad working together.
I love these cars. They just have an awesome look to them. This one could be really cool if you put a little time into it. It seems to be in really good overall condition, considering that it has been sitting for years.
Sweet car I'm sure it wasn't too long down it has darker tinted glass. You never know someone had it impounded and couldn't get it out. It sounded really good after a few upgrades. Can't wait to see you guys get done.Take care.
Budget Buildz father and son great job , on getting this classic Pontiac up and running again , can't wait Until you guys get her transmission , Figured out so she can be on the road again, and possible a light Restore because she deserves it 🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪🙏🙏🙏🙏
My first car was a 1976 Pontiac Catalina, with a 400 in it. The exhaust was so quiet on that thing, I could start it in the early mornings , on them cold mornings, to let it warm up, and, sometimes, when I came back outside, to leave, I could almost forget it was running, because it was as so stinking quiet and smooth.
Определять состояние моторного масла на вкус-это сверхспособность!)))Как всегда отличное видео, посмотрел с удовольствием.
Your little boy reminds me of my grandson with all that energy!!😅
I'm a huge fan of Pontiacs from the 60s. Nice video.
I use to have one just like that and it was same color with black interior and it had a 428 with a turbo 400 trans. The car was fast and it was nice. If you ever watch the movie Goodfellas the car Ray was driving with the guy in the trunk was a 1968 Pontiac GP
That one there looks like a nice rescue body wise looks good with a good clean it will look great 👍 looking forward for the next video
THAT, got some style. Love the front and rear...
Spray painting the water pump Pontiac blue. God bless you sir
Nice Grand Prix ,motor sounds good can’t wait to see it drive.
just two minutes in and I'm already on board. this is gonna be a good one. structurally it looks solid. love the car
Michael I am absolutely blown away by that classic car I’m jealous I can’t wait to see you get it driving again
She is definitely a runner, possibly a 428? I had a 66 Bonneville, 428, and she was a boat that would float.
Would love to see you continue to refine this car and get her on the road.
Might be a cool car to restore and give it to your son to drive to high school, he would be the star attraction.
421. 428 came out in 67.
And we, your viewers and subscribers appreciate your efforts with getting these forgotten gems to run and live again, thank you Michael and dad 👍🙂
That thing is gorgeous What a score.
Love your show and your work with your Dad? You two make a GREAT TEAM however WHERE HAVE YOU'LL BEEN in these past weeks? Miss you guys n Best of Luck!
Made my day you guys have another runner project.
What a privilege to be able to work on a car like that... greetings from Monterrey Mexico.
Love you guys and your videos. I still wish your dad was more talkative but it's all good. You guys are awesome
Your right. About. Window. Tint. Looks. Black. When. A plied. Then. Time. Turns. It. Purple. Factory. Tint. Is. The best. Thanks ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Just for a reference. All Pontiac blocks are the same size. From the 326 to 455. You can check the side of the block and some have the engine size cast into them. Otherwise, you can check the code on the front flat one the passenger front of the block below the head. It should be a two letter code like YS or something. The heads have a code on the center ports. They should be Cast 62 for And air car with a 400 Cu engine if its the original one.
Thank you for pointing that out! It’s a bad habit I have, calling them Big Blocks 🤦♂️ This car being a 400, our Bonneville and Starchief being 389s. I just kind of think big block compared to everything else we mess with. Great info, I really appreciate it!
Having looked at the engine a bit better. I am guessing that you have a later Pontiac 400. The Brackets are around 1973 or so. The Carb is a Chevy one. Pontiac Q-jets for Pontiac are center fill not off to the side like Chevy used, The engine might smoke because the valve seals on the valves might have dried out and cracked. Its common on cars that have sat for years. You can replace them if your handy and have a Piece of rope and a valve spring compressor. The center console looked like it was mounted wrong. But. You will have to lift the car with someone in it and have them shift the shifter and watch the Trans mount for the shifter and the bracket. It might be mounted backwards. If your lucky the Grand Prix has Disk brakes (it was and option as were the famous 8 lug aluminum drum wheels) If you need any more information I am a moderator for one of the biggest Pontiac forums. Built many many cars over the years.
@@1gatomon Good eye! Yeap it’s a ‘72 date code. A bit of a bummer over the original ‘68 but someone atleast took the time to install the 4 barrel intake. I still need to dig into the trans some more and hopefully we can get it figured out 🙂 I really appreciate that! I will let you know what we run into and keep you in mind. We’re hunting a reasonable and decent front valance currently.
@@1gatomon first thing I noticed was engine being painted wrong color. Those were prone to stripping the nylon timing gear
I'm taking a shot that the engine being painted Chevy red gives it a chance at being rebuilt. If the timing chain is original it will show up later when the timing light will not be steady when giving it a tune up. Its not hard to pull the timing cover and replace it with a nice double roller set. The big Pontiac have such a huge engine bay. @@michaelcoonce6694
Beautiful Pontiac 😍! Hi from Brazil my friend, love your videos !
I am glad that you actual get these vehicles to run and drive, not like others like other youtubers that just buy vehicles and let them rust.
First car you've had that has an intact exhaust! Nice save, I love these style of Grand Prixes
That kid is living in heaven!
she's beautiful! some old McLeans or TruSpoke rims and whitewalls with those skirts back on and she'd be cruising the boulevard with class!
That's one awesome Grand Prix. You guys do some great work I can't wait to see what's coming next for the Pontiac. 👍✌️🇺🇲
cool , kinda looks like an early 70's Lemans , love the video
I was a Pontiac guy. Had a 68 LeMans and a 70 GTO judge.. miss them...pex
Thanks for taking time to show your son! That is what life is all about! I also admire your channel for being versatile for your choices of vintage cars to getting operating once more!! A++++++
What a cool car. Can’t wait to see this one go through the stages.
Best looking one you have bought in a long time
Look forward to part 2 ....cheers
Great save. Way cool, under rated car. Can’t wait for the next installment on this one.
