Your dad is one lucky guy to have a son that likes to do projects with him (or a son that lets dad work with him). Very lucky guy.
Yea it’s something I always wished I had but I didn’t have a dad that wanted to do anything but get drunk and raise hell. I don’t have kids so I just missed out all the way around. I just figure out how to things alone , trial and error.
He’s so awesome to work with! He left a really good job to come work with me. Still can’t believe he puts up with all my shenanigans 😅 I’m so thankful for him!
Yeah I second you on that I wish my dad wanted to do those things with me was too busy getting drunk and doesn’t even want to be in my sons life. Lost my father in law last year to cancer he was like a dad to me. Enjoy it brother happy you have that
Great job on the Pontiac and video.Cant believe how clean the old girl cleaned up.👍
Those factory wheels look so good on that car.
That boat tank is the third man of Budget Buildz!
You bet 😅😅
Get a pressure washer. I went for ages cleaning out dirty brakes, dirty cars, dirty engines, wallowing through dirty undersides to fix stuff. After I bought one, I found that it saved me wasted hours. Filthy engine compartments clean in a minute. Great undersides loaded with leak dirt, are stripped of rust and crud and clean to work on. Brake plates stripped and clean in a second.
Pretty sure they have one.
Omg so true, cleaning all those abandoned cars with only the hose so much waste of water and time
Sounds like a good plan! We have one but it’s so old and worn out, most of the time it’s not worth dragging out 😅 I’ll definitely get one on order! Thank you for the suggestion 🙂
I just wanted to say it’s a breath of fresh air to me when you guys dig out your air hose and actually blow all the dirt and spiderwebs off your junk! It’s got to be my adhd, but it literally makes me nuts when people keep working and they’re dealing with 10 pounds of rotting leaves or pine needles or rats nests without starting with a “cleaner” rig. IMHO 😮
Man, I'm with you on that. I couldn't believe how much time it saved me.
The purple discoloration that can occur on old window tint is often a result of the breakdown of the adhesive and the dye used in the tinting material. Window tint is typically made of a thin film that contains dye for coloration and an adhesive layer to adhere the film to the glass.
Also windex turns it purple; I think it’s from the ammonia.
Or just plain ol' cheap "ghetto" film 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks for the info!! 🙂 I’d say the adhesive had definitely broken down a bit 😅
@@jangles1839😂
It might be a dinosaur compared todays cars, but cars like that is what we drove around in and they were fun. A mile long and rumble and can not pass a gas station but we had ethyl gasoline to help. She cleaned nice. Sucks on the transmission, but at least you had one to replace it. Nice video!
We love a dinosaur of a car!! 😃 Sounds about right! Thank you 😊
Great content. Not a lot of people want to deal with transmission issues. Would love to see a video on a trans rebuild. Love the channel !
Thank you! 🙂 I do understand why but I had to give it a go 😅 We will definitely soon incorporate one!! Really glad you’re enjoying!
i dont get it myself its not that big of an issue, replacing one only takes an hour and TH400s TH350s are everywhere, yeah its a risk putting a random one in but odds are someone you know has one that was in one of their cars at one point that works, getting them rebuilt isnt even that much money anyway, if i could pull out a TH350 when i was 17 (9years ago) than anyone can
I particularly enjoyed this video. My first adult job was as an engineer working for Pontiac Motors... 1970-1980. I enjoyed a new car almost every year. My Grand Prix was one of my favorites.
Such patience, optimism and amazing diagnostic skills ! Rock on, gentlemen !
Thank you so much! ☺️☺️
I've been hospitalized 2 weeks and your videos and the passion keeps me motivated. Thanks a lot.
Speedy recovery! Get home soon and enjoy some more!
Hope you're doing better
Happy to see a strip and rebuild of the old transmission !
Good job, men. That thing is really nice.
Another good one Michael, you are so blessed to be able to have your dad alongside you on these projects, I lost my dad when I was 19, he was only 53, so cherish these times as I am sure you do.Look forward to see the next instalment on this restoration. 👍🙂👏
Thank you! I’m very sorry you lost your father. I most definitely do. Can’t wait to share more! ☺️
Wheels and tires are nice! Definitely agree to leave the skirts off!
All your shows are great , but that one was awesome . Luv the interaction of you and your dad , a lucky man indeed to have that kind of relationship . One of my favorite channels , consistently high value content , keep them coming and thank you .
Thank you so much for this kind comment!! 😊 I’m so glad you enjoy! I’m very thankful for the opportunity to work with my dad!
I'm so happy to finally hear your dad talk in this video. I love it.
Beautiful old classic muscle car..❤ great job...😊 from Australia 🇦🇺
While I'm a diehard Mopar guy, I do appreciate the GM B/C body of 1965 to 1970. Another good one, Michael. 🤩🤩
😁😁 Thanks Paul!!
I love Pontiac’s! Great job y’all
Budget Buildz Hello Friends it's great watching you and your Dad work together, on this classic Pontiac !! I would love to see you both restore this car body with some metal work ,and clean up the under carriage of the car ,after metal repairs , so keep up the great work and putting this classic Pontiac Grand Prix, back on the road were she belongs 🇺🇸🇺🇸💪💪💪👍👍👍
Lots of cars look better without rearview mirrors, including this one. Must also say that I am jealous. I have my grandpa's '73 Grand Am and I am restoring a '67 Firebird. Love the look of any car around this era that has a big ole grille esp with hidden headlights.
I definitely agree with you! Sounds like some really fun cars 🙂 I hope all the best with the Firebird resto! Keep that Grand Am forever 😊 We’ll be restoring a Pontiac I got from my grandfather very soon!
I really enjoyed the 1973 model for a Pontiac Grand Prix, outstanding cars...
Looks dope! My mom had one when I was a kid. Your hairstyle and the music match it perfectly.
Yep, ready for the detail and polishing.
That car is such a piece of Americana!! Love the video!
Love to watch your rescues . This old man wishes he could be right there with you. Try to save them all they deserve it. Thank you guys
Here is an old school trick for removing the inner bearing seal on front drums and rotors. After you remove the outer bearing put the nut back on the spindle and slide the rotor off like it's a slide hammer. you need to let the weight of the rotor hang on the spindle so the nut catches the inner bearing. Works great.
love these old cruising boats! Great job bringing her back and really enjoy the channel!
I am not a car guy. Like at all. But I find these rescues and repairs/ recoveries endlessly fascinating. Maybe it's because we're discovering along the way with you and your Dad, and it's _not_ somebody with very deep pockets and all the latest gear doing a quick perfect montage. It's just a dude and his dad making old crusty rides out of junk yards and barn finds, run again, and apparently having a lot of fun in the process. Between the old beat up cars and the motorhome, it's great.
Watching from Thailand on holiday. I could be in any country but will always be looking forward to the latest Budget Buildz!!
Love this channel so board of seeing people rebuild modern cars they are all doing the same cars over and over again, This channel should have the least two million subs by now.
I'm a Pontiac man , but never had a Grand Prix, but road in a few and they were very comfortable road cars!
Glad you got it driving...maybe the governor needs adjustment to get the shift points lower? You should be in 3rd by 30. That is one of my fav Pontiacs...so...sorry, you need to tell dad that the skirts have to go back on...the whole point to a 68 GP is that awesome sideline that sweeps through the skirt
The wheels do look a lot better.
I can't wait to see that one buffed out. These are one of my absolute favorite cars. I would love to see you rebuild the original trans though.
Nice, glad it's back on the road. Thanks for saving another classic 😊
Hi Michael, I missed you guys. Great to have y'all back. Just woke up. Breakfast and Budget Buildz. The usual suspects..LOL. Your buddy Rob, Cairns, Down Under P.S. Watching the playoffs as we speak, too.
We’re glad to be back! 😊 Thanks Rob! How’d the playoffs go? 😃
Love the '68 GP....my favorite Pontiac
What a cool old car!!! Great job guys! Love what you guys are doing!
Thank you!! Glad you’re enjoying 😊
Love your channel!!!! Your enthusiasm is contagious!!!
Enjoyed watching you get this one back on the road. Looking forward to seeing you finish it.
THANKS FOR DOING THAT TRANS CHANGE MY SON MAX 8 YR. AND I LEARNED ALOT.. GREAT VIDEO!!!! FEEL BETTER , NO MORE FLU...
Good to see you both back and well 👍
Thanks! Glad to be back 😊
A beautiful American car . Good job buddy
absolutely epic. love that car and your style
What a fantastic episode. I so enjoyed this one. What a great car. You guys rock.
Love the old Pontiac's!
Good looking old Pontiac. I just appreciate how you guys aren’t afraid to take on any obstacle, it gives some of us amateurs a little confidence to try now things!
Beautiful classic rims ❤
Nice ride, you do know of course that there isn't a "big block" Pontiac. The wheels and tires look great
They were great cars and fast too!
The "City of Myrtle Beach" Chamber of Commerce should sponsor your videos since you wear that sweatshirt all the time!!! Keep up the great content. Always love your show!!
Another outstanding video! It was interesting to see some AT debugging.
Dang that's a sweet looking ride,I didn't know you knew how to fix transmissions! That's awesome!
There's always something very ASMR-y about your drum brake rebuilds.
Someone already tried changing fluid and filter on first transmission. That's why looked clean.
I love old grand prixs. The 69 Pontiac grand prix is my dream car.
Man you guy’s are awesome! I just love watching you two interact and do magic with them old classics! And I’m so glad to be able to enjoy watching all of them progress! Definitely looking forward to seeing what else you two bring to the table! That car purrs like a kitten!👌😎👍
Really glad you’re enjoying!! Thanks so much 😊😊 We can’t wait to share more!
@@BudgetBuildz thank you and god bless your family 🙏
„Fiddle-farting around“ is my word/expression for today, thanks for the lesson & all the best from Munich/Germany! 😅
Glad to see somthing new keep it up
I say this every time but this is the sort of boat us Brits would love to come and do a road trip across the good old uSA in!!! Great work!!
Great job. Can't wait to see what you do with her next.
The car is coming along nicely 👍👍
those rims came out great love it
Thank you!! 😊
Congratulations Budget Buildz Mike :) also your dad and yes glad different transmission help out solving transmission problems on first Turbo 400 and wasn't the Differential at all ! But I say rebuilt completely the first Turbo 400 3 speed Automatic transmission keep for spare too ! That car very nice one and hope keeping it too!
I demand to see it with fender skirts.
Hi I’m new to your show I love it keep putting that good content you have me hooked it’s nice to see you and your dad working together reminds me of
The days when I worked with my dad on vehicles enjoy your dad while you have him God bless have a wonderful year
Love the GMC motorhome!
Thank you Michael for another excellent vid. I discovered your channel and subscribed about 8 months ago. I live in London, England and own a '79 Cadillac SDV - I've owned plenty of old Brit/Italian classics, but it's my first American car and watching how you work through issues has helped me with some of my own fault diagnosis - thank you. I'm particularly enjoying the transformation of the RV and admire your confidence in stripping out all of the electrics - I'll be honest, I wouldn't have the courage for that 😄!!
A big improvement with tint removal and a wash.
im still waiting for an update on the camper so curious how you finished it up you left us on such a cliff hanger, also seeing the insides of a automatic gearbox makes you wonder what kind of a mind you need to have to dream up something so complex.
We’ve got much more coming on the Motorhome very shortly!! 🙂 Very true!
Поздравляю, это успех Майкл!Наверное при таком мощном моторе V8 ,но с механической коробкой передач этот Понтиак ехал бы еще интереснее!)
I can't wait to see the clean up
My old 68 Grand Prix had the 4 wheel drum brakes and came equipped with the 8 lug wheels. I'd love to get another 68 GP. Great old cars that look mighty fine going down the road.
Tint turns purple with age. Also ammonia in glass cleaner will turn it purple faster.
Wow, that Olds tranny was just what it needed !!! Anxious to see what you do on this cool car next !!!
Looks to be in good shape for the shape it's in.
You guys are the best. Love those wheels! God bless!
Great video on the Pontiac Grand Prix. Good looking car!
Love watching you guys bring these old cars back to life! Love this grand prix such cool body lines
Always did love Pontiac Grand Prix's . My favorite year was a 64 but any year of a Grand is nice!!!
Really enjoyed this episode glad you had a spare transmission and it gets installed in no time on u tube .
Glad you enjoyed!! 😊
Window tint turns purple when you use a product to clean it with ammonia in it
Gotta say great car. Can’t believe you thought you would get away with those wheels unpainted 😮😮
We say "fiddle-farting around", too!
Haha it’s a good phrase 😅😅
The wheels set it off, nice
The car looks much better without the skirts
Handsome automobile...love the model. Thank you for posting this.
🤩 Pontiac 68
Heya guys! Happy to see a new one from y'all! So sorry for your family's loss and I pray that your holidays were good aside from that. Looking forward to seeing what y'all bring us this year and hopefully I can get by to see you sometime soon! God bless! 💙🙏🏼👊🏼
I really appreciate that man! Can’t wait to share much more! I hope all is well with you 😊
Window tint fade like that with Windex with ammonia in it
Great video and well done for bringing it back to life..
Sounds great
Glad to see you guys back at it. My Dad wanted me to work with him, but I preferred getting my hands dirty wrenching on cars as opposed to plumbing. Looks like you two have a blast bringing these old cars back to life, and this car is no exception. 👍
Awesome ride! Grandfather had one for many years. Hand painted it blue haha.
Love it. Wheels look great.
How about a quick update on the porsche, plez. The pontiac lives!
Another great build. 👍
With the window tint, over the years the sun will fade the tint and turn it purple! It will also get bubbles in it sometimes, too!
i wish i could 'real life' time lapse drum brake rebuilds. it takes me way too long and i never escape without a bloody knuckle. 😝
