Fiery Exchange between Karen Read Defense, Witness Erupts in Murder Trial

- Digital forensics analyst Nicholas Guarino was back on the stand Thursday morning breaking down evidence in the boyfriend cop murder trial. Under cross examination, Karen Read’s defense attorney and Guarino exchanged several fiery comments while discussing cell phone data. At one point, the judge had to ask both the attorney and witness to pause and not to speak over each other.

Karen Read faces several charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating under the influence of alcohol, and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. She was arrested in February of 2022, a few days after John O’Keefe died. If convicted, Read faces life in prison.

@Cherokee51774 the police unions have got more and more powerful over the years, and police accountability is virtually non-existent, which all leads to more crappy and aggressive cops on the streets. I think that's why the police don't garner as much respect from people as they use to. All the RUclips videos of them acting like tyrants doesn't help much either. 🤷♂️

To be fair, a witness on cross examination is a hostile witness. Nor do you answer with any additional information than what is asked for. That is why the defense has to peel back the information the witnesses don't provide. This also allows for the witnesses to trip over themselves or testimony by other witnesses.

This trial is outrageous. The prosecutor said in his opening statement that Karen hit John at 12:45 and we learn today that she got back to John's house at 12:36! The jury has to be furious at this waste of their time.

It’s highly concerning that this man is a public servant, a person sworn to protect and serve. He doesn’t seem like he’s very interested in justice- he actively seems like he’s avoiding the truth. He seems arrogant, shady, and callous. Those are the worst possible characteristics for a public servant.

I like how the defense got him to say he's not sure if the Canton PD was the scene of a crime. That leaves open the door that Proctor committed obstruction of justice by removing taillight pieces to take back to the crime scene, which also would violate Karen Read's civil liberties. The cop is right - maybe it really was the scene of a crime!
That’s what high powered lawyers do. If you tell them you don’t know what you are that morning they will make the jury believe that’s because you are on a hunger strike. They would make innocent people look guilty to a jury. After all, that is their job.

I knew nothing about this case before the trial started and have been following it day by day watching testimony like the jury and it’s making me mad and sick at the way the CW, the witnesses, Canton PD and especially Proctor have behaved in this. The victim & his family deserved better than this mess and I can’t wait to find out the outcome of the FBIs investigation etc.
Imagine what would’ve happened if Karen Read didn’t have the money to hire this defense team? This has probably cost her into the hundreds of thousands. Imagine how many people this HAS happened to.

That’s how this judge wants it done for this trial for some asinine reason.
People have commented that this judge does not allow the attorneys to say the reason for objections. I don’t think anyone said the judge’s reason for this policy.

@@zacharydavis7184 The objections themselves aren’t admissible and lack thereof wouldn’t be grounds for appeal. The reason for not having a speaking objection is it’s literally the opposite of what you said since they may include prejudicial comments. They are all professional lawyers (allegedly) and judges. The basis for objections is implied and if not she asks them to sidebar. It might just be the least asinine thing I’ve seen from her.

When he said he went back to the scene 3 months later with Corrupt Proctor, he became an invalid and untrustworthy interpreter of data. He smirked more than Proctor lied in his first cross examination.
