I owned a PT92 for a couple of years. The sheriff’s office was in, the largest sheriff’s office in Louisiana covering the New Orleans suburbs, want from deputy owned .38/.357 to department issued .9mm Beretta 92. I was happy for the switch and because of my familiarity with my Taurus PT92 I was able to qualify as a Pistol Expert Shooter. After a couple of years of qualifying all went well. The fourth year at the range the safety went on when I racked the slide after a mag change. It took a few seconds to figure out my malfunction and continue the course, I reported the situation to the range master and he said that had happened a couple times at the range for quite a while. I NEVER racked the slide from the back again opting for a grab at the front of the slide where the slide swells out, but I never really trusted the Beretts after that was still more comfortable with my PT92 and shot the course with my Taurus and shot 2 perfect rounds in a row with it. I have 2 PT92s one original style and one decocker and a PT100 love all three. When the sheriff’s office went to Glock 9mm the Berettas were offered to the deputies at a much reduced price, I decided I didn’t need a pistol I didn’t totally trust and declined the offer. VERY GOOD CONTENT, THANK YOU!
I went to the shooting club yesterday (17/03/2023), and I took my PT 100 AFD. It shot wonderfully. A friend had his PT AFD, which also did not disappoint. They served a wonderful gaucho barbecue for 100 people. A hug, from Encantado, RS, Brazil.
Good luck on owning that PT101. Unfortunately, Taurus has dropped support for the .40 in almost all guns - even the TH40, the last 40 model they have made, appears to be gone from the catalog. I bought one PT100, 17-round, on sale at an online gunshop. When I decided I wanted a second, they were gone and I found out that the reason it was on sale is because it was on clearance since Taurus had dropped it. I do wish they'd bring the PT100/101 back. I'd love to have a second, or third, or 10th.
Great video. I'd like to hear more about that range you have. As for the 40 S&W, it's long out of popularity - but, like you, I still love it. I'm never the 80% market. The surest way to make sure Walmart quits carrying some food item is for me to like it and buy it because I'm proof an item is on the fringes of popularity. So I do love the 40. The feel of it with the extra punch and snap is just fun to shoot. And the best thing is, like today, there's very little 9mm to buy what with all the gun related bad news in the past month, but there's plenty of .40 S&W. You probably know how that goes and I probably shouldn't share our secret, but since most PDs have dropped the .40, it stays on the shelf longer.
This has been my EDC for almost 35 years. I own the PT100AFS. It has had around 50000 rounds through it and not one single stoppage. I only reload my own ammo. Never fired factory rounds. A brilliant no nonsense firearm. Comfortable to carry concealed the whole day. About 6 months ago I dropped it (my own stupidity) and broke the ambidextrous safety. It was reasonably cheap to replace and parts availability were no problem in South Africa.
I had this also from about 1994 & zero malfunctions. Far more a duty pistol than a concealed carry. It's one of the biggest and heaviest. 40s available. Wish I'd kept it.
Its literally the same amazing gun for $200 cheaper, that makes it better in my book. Beretta used to have the frame mounted safety then switched it to the slide mounted version and Taurus just used the frame version because the patent expired, im cool with it lol
No Taurus 92/100 have ever had steel frames to my knowledge. Some beretta 92 series models have. But they are special editions and always very expensive.
@jeffshootsstuff If I'm not mistaken ,after 2005 they started using polymer parts, mine was made in 95... nothing wrong with a Taurus, I have a mill pro pt45, I like a pocket cannon.
Taurus will NEVER be as good or better. Having the factory doesn’t mean you use the same quality materials, have the same QC, or have the workers of the same skill level.

Thanks for the real world experience. The slide mounted decocker is a poor design for a duty pistol for sure.

Otimo!
I just love the full metal body of the Beretta patent 92 & I'm looking forward to owning pt 101
Cool!

Ive owned the PT92,never had problem, lookin at a near mint pt100AF.. Got the beretta..goin tomorrow to look at the Pt100..Good presentation!
Cool!
I love the 40 cal. Don't have a taurus at present, but, plan on having one soon.
Cool!

For sure. Panic buyers clean out all the 9mm and 5.56 but there’s more obscure ammo on the shelf.

Wow that’s an impressive round count. Have you replaced recoil spring regularly or any other maintenance?
@@jeffshootsstuffrecoil spring and guide rod about 6 years back. And reverted back to original wood grips this year as the Pachmeyers cracked sadly.
So one recoil spring in 50K rounds? Amazing. How’s the locking block looking?

You are wise
@ yankeemarshall told me lol
Very nice presentation 👍
Thank you!
I had the same problem with the mec gar mags but they break in when you use them alot
Meaning they go in and out of the grip frame without binding when fully loaded now?
Can the pt101 chambered in .40 be converted to 9mm by changing barrel and slide?
I believe so. You may have to swap the ejector but I’m not sure about that. I’ve been planning to get a 9mm upper and mags for mine but haven’t yet.
The only difference is the barrel and the magazine. Every other part is exactly the same, including the slide.
@@paulsaver8777 mine is a alloy frame, some guys tell me theirs is steel so i wasnt sure.

I have a .40 S&W M&P. I bought a .357 Sig barrel for it. Can you get a .357 Sig barrel for yours?
I’ve never seen one. But that doesn’t mean they don’t exist.
I searched .357 Sig barrel for PT101AF and could not find anything.@@jeffshootsstuff
@@CHEECHMUN maybe 357 Beretta 96 should do
I have a pt99 ,,and love it
Sweet!
Sold my 92 years ago and regret it everyday. Looking for a 101 as of now.
Hope you find a good one!
I've had both and both are excellent firearms, sold the Beretta and they both eat any ammo
My experience as well!
Heck yes
Yeahhhh boyyyy
Do you own both the 40cal and 9mm version?
No just the .40s. But I have 9mm berettas
@@jeffshootsstuff Ok nice. Do you feel a significant difference in recoil between the two?
The Taurus PT92 9mm are amazing
Yes. The .40s are quite a bit sharper in recoil.
@@jeffshootsstuff Nice thanks for the info.
Beretta 92FS all the way. Pre 2000's
Straight dust cover
@jeffshootsstuff If I'm not mistaken ,after 2005 they started using polymer parts, mine was made in 95... nothing wrong with a Taurus, I have a mill pro pt45, I like a pocket cannon.
Pretty sure the slide on the 101 is ss, and not plated
Not on mine :)
@@jeffshootsstuff is yours an alloy frame? Or steel?
Taurus handguns had a better finish in the past.
No doubt about that
Sorry but , the baretta is much better mabuand a higher class gun to then Taurus . The reason why I would know that is because, I have 2 of them .
Neat
Taurus will NEVER be as good or better. Having the factory doesn’t mean you use the same quality materials, have the same QC, or have the workers of the same skill level.
Back in the day quality was more apples to apples. Today, not so much.
Boring presentation 😴
