  • I begrudgingly report that my "New Love" experience with this "Old Gun'" did not go well. Right after I shot the first magazine, I suddenly remembered why I hadn't shot this gun in years.

    sometimes range days are measured in inches, others measured in smiles. the last shots of any gun are always bittersweet. thanks for sharing

      Thank you. You are so right! There are days when just being the range with one of my favorite guns and firing rounds is great. Every squeeze of the trigger literally brings a smile to my face. No stress; no sense of need of accomplishment. Just the best time spent with gun and ammo. Other times, I feel the need to put rounds on target in a satisfying manner. I'm the first to admit that I'm not a marksman or trying to be one, but there is that little part of me that desires to be better. I wish all of my range days were the ones where I just just enjoy time spent with gun and ammo. Thank you for reminding me.

    Those rounds would probably be center of target with a 180 grain bullet at 25 yards. The point of impact isn't really the issue with that gun. Guns usually have a baseline distance they are sighted for, and a standard weight ammo. The groups at the distance you fired at should be one damn hole. The fact that they aren't kind of makes me think she'd fire a buckshot pattern at 25.
    I've had guns that were uber reliable, but minute of barn accuracy wise. Ruger P85, 89, and 90s were notorious for that. They'd eat garbage reloads, but couldn't group with a damn with decent ammo.

      I thought about that too. POA and POI accuracy are different. I think this gun is POI accurate, but at the same time is POA faulty because of the front sight blade height or locked barrel movement. The barrel angle might even be slightly pitched down a degree or so. I want to take it out again to test this theory. If I fixate on a specific target at distance, I believe the gun will consistently print unacceptable low. If it were printing high I would be happy. I may test it again to see. Thank you for your insight.

      Yeah, but I hate thinking that gun shoot that poorly. A part of me wants to improve it, and another part says let it go. Kind of a dilemma right now.

    I had a G2C that I was going to use as my EDC. Needless to say it ended up on Gunbroker due to a barrel that locked up less tightly than yours did!
    I ventured into 357mag with a Tracker 627. JUNK! Had terrible leading at the forcing cone and very inaccurate as well. I tracked it down to 2 of the chambers on the cylinder where the bullets would drop right through. I reload btw. At any rate it should NOT do that. I sent it to Taurus and of course they said it's within spec. Needless to say I junked that gun too!
    I will NEVER buy another Taurus!
    Thanks for your videos!!

      Thank you for watching. I've had three Taurus guns in my life. Two PT line semi's, and one 689VR revolver. I'd never had any issues with mine, but I have many horror stories from others. They can have suspect quality at times, especially early models. They have gotten better in the past 5-10 years, put there is nothing they currently make that interests me. The quality of the PT-92 line has always been good. Not sure why this PT-100 is OFF. Performance wise it's top noitch. Just suspect accuracy if it is truly the gun and not me.

    I was looking through the Taurus manual the other day for something completely unrelated and happened to notice that Taurus recommends to line up the tops of the sights rather than the actual dots. It's hard to tell for sure in the video, but it looks like if the dots are lined up then the top of the front sight is lower than the top of the rear sight. If that's the case, then lining up the tops of the sights, front and rear, would raise the aiming point. I'm far from any kind of gun expert and I've always thought you lined up the dots. Anyways, just thought I'd pass it along for what it's worth.

    • @mr2275cur
      @mr2275cur  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the info. I've always tried to align the tops of the sights rather than the dots. It'. easier to focus on dot alignment though, so it did require a little eye discipline.

      @@mr2275cur You seem like you know your firearms and I figured I wasn't telling you anything you didn't already know. Also, as far off the mark as it is shooting it seemed like a longshot that sight alignment was the issue. I think I need to go work on my eye discipline now.

    I would compare a 92 rear sight inside height to this one and see how it measures. If the middle of your rear sight was higher you'd be good.

    • @mr2275cur
      @mr2275cur  8 месяцев назад

      Correct. I'm also wondering the issue is the rear sight height. Aside from changing it, nothing can be done about it. Filing down the front blade slightly would compensate for the low rear sight to achieve the same desired end result. I'm selling it anyway at this point, so I will probably not do anything.

    Man it's disappointing a nice gun like that doesn't shoot well.
    In a Browning style action like a 1911, BHP or CZ 75 that type of barrel movement will definitely cause accuracy issues.
    In a Beretta 92 style action though that barrel movement you showed is normal. I would maybe look into replacing the locking block. I've read that Beretta 92 barrels and locking blocks work on Taurus PT series. Worst case scenario is replacing the barrel.

    • @mr2275cur
      @mr2275cur  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you. It is a good looking gun. I.m not putting of the accuracy issues on the gun, because I can definitely admit that I'm not the best shot in the world. But this one has always been "difficult" to shoot accurately. I thought about adding a barrel bushing, but decided not to since I'm selling the gun anyway.

    I can’t get past how cheap looking Taurus products look. I also can’t get past the ridiculous names they come up with for their revolvers then plaster that horrible name all over the revolver in the most gaudy way possible.

    • @mr2275cur
      @mr2275cur  8 месяцев назад

      I know opinions vary, but I don't find them to look too bad. I think the revolver finishes are awful though. They are mid-line guns for the most part, so I don't expect them to be as refined as S&W's or Colts. Unfortunately a lot of manufacturers have turned their guns into mini-billboards.
