Been riding the Imperiale 400 for over 2 weeks now. Having taken test rides of the classic 350 and the thunderbird 350x, plus a lot of research. I would recommend the Imperiale 400---Build quality, Ride quality, sound plus it looks great! (let's just hope Benelli comes up with a decent service network) if they do then I'm sure this machine will give the RE a run for its nuts and bolts!
Imperialle! It will be finally a motorcycle that has the most comfortable natural riding position for seeing this beautiful country ! And not chattering in your teeth because of vibrations . Royal Enfield still doesn't know what's hit them.
People say about RE what used to be once said about Nokia This is the durable product segment Agreed it will take years to wipe out an RE but look around you And you will realise that unless they don't bring the technology at the very least that is used in export model RE's days are numbered because the competiton is biting at their heels and is now eating into their bread and butter model. So unless they don't straighten out their act they are going to see bread and butter disappear 🤗 Little by little every quarter .
Nice video... No better bike in this segment... Jawa has quality issues, every second person has a RE plus it’s a vibrator... bike booked. Just a month to go... can’t wait 😎
You are right, I have bought the same Benelli as in this revieuw, i live in Holland. I rode the bike for a test and I liked it so much, I sold my Kawasaki W 800 and now I ride the Benelli, I love it!
The servicing is parts is being put forth as an issue. But in all fairness this is something that will come from RE owners like me. I have a 2016 Classic 350 and it has needed work since the very first month. The beaks are a bloody joke. Basically, Classic 350 demands a lot of attention. If Benelli has created a machine that has good finish and requires minimal workshop visits other than servicing half the battle is already won by Benelli. The need for a service station in every corner will end automatically. Though it would be advisable to buy it only if there is a Benelli showroom and service station where you will be living/riding. A proper head on comparizon bwween the 2 wil be exciting.

At least if you have already tested the bike, please let me know is it worth to put my hard earned money on this? I am not a fan of classic looking bikes and loved ducati scrambler a lot but it's very expensive and I can't afford one. Please let me know if Benelli Leoncino 500 is a good choice and also try to bring the review of this bike soon. It surely deserves PowerDrift review 😉
The motorcycle looks very nice, especially in this vibrant Red and Blue combination. In short, my personal opinion is: "Yet another Chinese Mule pretending to be an Italian Horse !" I am sure how Benelli owners will feel like especially when you compare it with RE in terms of customer service. While the latter sucks in that area, the former in question simply doesn't even exist. Add to that the woes of the high cost of spare parts, shoddy service and the likes. This brand is akin to the "Skoda" of motorbikes when it comes to the service department.
Just in case people are wondering, other uses of brakes: 1. To slow down 2. Checking the tail lamp 3. Stoppie 4. Doughnut 5. Showing off your balancing skills 6. Showing off your skidding skills 7. Scaring the sh*t out of the tail-gating mor*n ( DANGEROUS , DO NOT TRY IT ANYWHERE) 8. Try to see glowing discs 9. Disc Frisbee? ( DANGEROUS ) And last "Sleaze warning below" 10. Was waiting eagerly for this review, the twin pod instrument cluster, the tank pad, the adjustable gear lever, the front forks - everything that indicates to good details. But will wait for a full test details to call the dealership.
I would say this one's a pretty good competition for Jawa and Royal Enfield. Jawa updated price for dual channel abs is around 1.83 lakhs. Where as Benelli has priced less than that with standard abs. Looks more retro than jawa i would say. If i had an option before the jawa, i would definitely went for this
Feels like the Benelli has got better ergonomics than the RE 350.... The best part was reduction in vibrations & dual channel abs.... A better product than the RE👏👏
Though I'm not sure but have heard that Benelli is giving 2 lack kilometers unlimited time warranty on its engine. If this is true then it shows the confidence benelli has on its product. And definitely this will put Benelli way ahead of Jawa and RE. Those who have faced rudeness from RE service centers will understand it better.
Believe me.. Benelli Imperiale 400 is far far superior than royal enfield classic 350.. The size, build quality, weight distribution, ride quality, ... just amazing.. and pure retro design
After owning 3 different royal enfields, and still owning the fourth one 'the himalayan' I think the benelli imperiale will a choice over the RE, but only if they reduce the maintenance cost and increase the svc centres.

I did my k2k ride on cl350 with few other places in the country,rest on tb500,cbr ,last month did the third south India ride of around 4500km on Himalayan,planning for 7 sisters by April nd to be cntd.. :)
If RE plonked 410 from the Himalayan into the new classic as RE classic 410 it would give goosebumps to the competition with 24bhp & some awesome thump & unique pricing, its win win for RE & old & new buyers.

USE OF DRLs INSTEAD OF AHO AND USE OF LED BULBS INSTEAD CONVENTIONAL BULB WOULD HAVE MADE IT AN UPMARKET PRODUCT. FRONT SEAT ANGLE HAS TO BE CORRECTED AND REAR SEAT LENGTH SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCREASED. I really like the looks of the imperiale 400. To me better than the RE. But If it had the 500 cc twin engine of the Leoncino (But in a Classic package) than it would be more apealing to me.
During the test ride, I have felt engine heating issues and clutch is a bot hard . Have you encountered the same during your test rides? It was nimble and I could do 100 without vibrations. The top speed is around 140 km/h.

Front of a Yamaha RXG and Back Of a Enfield. If I was in the design team, Would have added a really Good Single Cushioned long seat, Wouldn't have stretched the length a mile. The Design philosophy of a mechanical watch is the most apt parallel I would draw when designing retro Bikes, Also would have loved more features on Imperiale For the Price you have to pay. Plus You don't get Benelli services everywhere in India. But then The bike looks full of feeling. An Italian Girlfriend In your Garage. Buying this bike will never let you regret. Perfect replacement for the royal Enfield classic(No offence)

Bike lacks the oomph IMO. At least it is not enough for Jawa/RE crowd to consider it. Limited showroom/service options will further limit the sales.

I took a test drive and it was decent. I'd personally prefer a Jawa to this any day. Nice review though, goes with the mood of the bike. :)

I rode Imperiale on a 200km trip to my village and back to Hyderabad. Turning and seating are better in my 2004 right shift Bullet Electra @Rajagadi.

It seems to me that the front shock absorber is not to good . What is your opinion ? Please let me know.

I really like the looks of the imperiale 400. To me better than the RE. But If it had the 500 cc twin engine of the Leoncino (But in a Classic package) than it would be more apealing to me.
They might have skipped that to keep the price low.

During the test ride, I have felt engine heating issues and clutch is a bot hard . Have you encountered the same during your test rides? It was nimble and I could do 100 without vibrations. The top speed is around 140 km/h.
What about the reliability and after sale service?
