    Hi Guys, Its been 7 Months owning this Bike. It is worth it and considering your review you have stolen my words. A proper Sunday Getaway. Not too much Not too less, Highway brunch and David Bowie in ears. Most positive review you guys have given and it is factual.

      Hi guys, liked this review. Not so much on the music...prefer to hear ye chatting / discussing the bike or just the sound of the engine in the motion shot clips. Styling is nice and steady .captured the historic look of the brand but not as exciting as other similar bike..enjoyed the review. Keep up the good work guys and I'm free to answer any of your decent music questions 😂😂👍

    I'm a young person, going for my motorcycle license. I have always liked pre 1980s motorcycles. They just have a degree of style that no post-1970s have. I also quite like the idea of a relatively simply built bike, one that I could work with my father (rider his entire adult life). It's no nonsense. You get what you see, and boy do I like what I see when I look at Triumphs, Royal Enfields and this Benelli.

      I would say that a 400cc is a bit tough for a new rider. Maybe you should try with a 125cc first to learn the ropes, a Yamaha XSR or a Brixton Cromwell are some of my faves

    I got this bike recently because it was half the price of the RE Bullet and almost brand new. It's my first bike but what I know for certain, is that it fits like a glove, looks amazing and rides awesome. It really is an authentic modern classic, can't really complain about anything, considering the price. I know it's Chinese, but in this case - the Chinese did a great job creating a very unique and characterful product.
    Your recommendation convinced me and I don't regret the purchase.

    I’m 31. Currently selling my R1 and Bandit 1250. Just ordered one of these. Lost a few friends over the years and time to take it easy. I looked at all sorts. Text rode the interceptor 650 and wasn’t impressed. I’m buying one of these without riding first but for the price £3600 OTR brand new it will be ok. I only ride the odd Sunday now on the country roads on my own. It looks great and will spend more time looking at it that riding it anyway. With the bad drivers on the road these days and hidden speed camera vans going fast isn’t fun. It feels great when you slow down and will take me back to my 125 days.

    To be honest, im 18 and im in love with that bike! In hungary there arent many companies that could offer a nice looking classic for beginners. I do like the Honda cb1100ex, but its not for beginners. I think it looks really cool. I live vintage bikes, but i also like the comfort, that new bikes offer. So this is pretty much a perfect bike. Its awesome, its unique, and it looks old, but its actually modern.

      What do you think of customizing this bike into a more cafe-ish build? By adding a bit lower and more forward positioned handlebar? Will it ruin the seating comfort, considering the somewhat forward positioned footpegs? Or will it just be the acceptable discomfort of a more agressive seating triangle?

  • @bzsokmo

    I’m in my 40s. I love this bike riding position. Changed the handle so i could sit with my back straight. I’m about 5’5” height so the bike look huge to me but it’s not. Owned it almost a year with 10,000km on it up to today feb20, 2022. Enough power for cruising or to over take a car or two in front. Indeed this bike not meant for speed and its just the bike I’m looking for.

    The foot peg bracket is rubber mounted to reduce vibration, that is why the pegs "wobble" a little. The rubber mounts are underneath the bike, so not clearly visible without getting underneath the bike. It is perfectly normal for them to wobble in this way!

    Guys, thanks for the very balanced and informative review. This bike is just beginning to be seen in the US, and I’m with excited about it. I’m a Harley-Davidson rider for road bikes (also into off-road observed trials), but a Benelli Fireball 50cc was the very first bike I ever rode as a youth, so I have a sentimental attachment to the brand. Well I decided on the Interceptor in the end. I could not get a test ride on the Imperiale locally, owner forum on Facebook seems to suggest they only get about 60 mph top speed although the speedo often indicates 85 mph. I sold my old 125 because 60 was just too slow for me on A roads which I have to use some times. Plus I could not find a rack for it which is a must for me. So I decided on the RE Interceptor which arrives tomorrow. Slightly sad because a really did like the look of this bike

  • @Zen-Mit-Chips
    @Zen-Mit-Chips 4 года назад +3

    I loved the bike, borrowed on from my local dealer here in Cyprus. I also wrote a review on it. My normal ride is a sport cruiser, so this was back to what I call, proper bikes. I smiled all the time I was on it, I only had a few criticisms, The tank cap, very light and looked like an afterthought, the rest of the bike is solid, cap was not. Foot pegs, yes rubber mounted underneath, wonder how long till you need new rubbers, shame the pegs don't hook up for paddling backwards. I live 2800 feet up in the mountains, just one hill made me wanting more power, over all, not being a speed machine, it cruised along well and didn't feel slow. I was going to buy one, however, because I live up in the mountains, I am waiting for the new one this year, Imperiale 530. What engine the engine size will be, I don't know, it would seem they are using the 373 and upgrading, so my thoughts were maybe a 475 and 30 bhp? We'll have to see what else they tinker with, maybe some lifting pegs, a new tank cap would help finish off the great looks of the bike.

    More great insight. Seems to both look and perform like a classically attractive urban bike, allowing the rider to look fantastic on the daily commute (comfy with great endurance/range & fuel economy, plus nimble in traffic) but also able to draw crowds during the evening and weekend bike-meets. But as you suggest, the Jury is out to how well it keeps its appearance after the first UK Winter Commute! Brilliant guys, keep 'em coming .

    This motorcycle is a workhorse, don't let it fool you, in India this motorcycle used to pull away RE customers but with the RE Hunter in play now it'll probably lose it's placing, it's taken the Ladakh road and is actually one of the rentals you can get to take on Ladakh and if it can continually do this as a rental motorcycle for Ladakh it means, this motorcycle is basically made for war. It can off road (not Motorcross), it's got enough power and torque. Cosmetically, it's better to switch out the stock exhaust for something shorter and get rid of the pillion seat, you will then see the real hidden gem that this motorcycle is (stock exhaust weights a ton so getting rid of it is going to get you a tad bit better power). It can take on backroads and motorways.
    Gears do need regular shifting to move up and down the power range, Brakes could be better, Load bearing is great, Riding position is fantastic for touring (and being seen), Finishing is top notch and in Malaysia I have managed to find a shop that can turn a tube tyre (puncture risk) to tubeless without changing the spoke wheels which is apart of the classic look, a 9/10 with this motorcycle especially once you loose the additional exhaust weight.

The things a true rider really wants to know, and not get lost in too much technicalities. I am a rider, not a mechanic or engineer, and began in the 70's with a Honda XR 75 scrambler at age ten in the days of cafe racers, scramblers, vespas and labrettas, the cb 250, Nortons, Triumphs, and of course, the classic BSA. Used to watch sammy miller at trials and barry sheene on the track. You describe the experience of each bike so well, in a way i understand and can relate to. Another good and balanced reveiw - thanks, chaps! I first saw this bike at the NEC Bike Show last year - and it stopped me dead in my tracks. It looks better than a Bullet Classic, in my view. And with me being 5'6" tall, this bike is a better 'fit' for me. The Benelli's modest/moderate performance is what I want these days (you want more? Then pay more!). My only concern is: the 'Made in China' bit. I've seen a number of bike manufacturers come and go over recent years - leaving owners with attractive looking but fragile and broken machines that they can't get fixed. How can I, as a serious potential buyer, be confident that they'l still be here in two years' time...?

    I'm currently riding a Benelli BN 125 while I take my full license . I have been toying with with buying this bike or Royal Enfield Classic 500 when I pass. I'm no speed freak and have been happy with the 125 although more power for the duel carriageways would certainly help! I'm 54 and I like the older 50"s classic look. Also this is about £1000 cheaper than the Enfield and you get a proper fuel gauge and gear indicator which is good when you're new to riding like me.
    When the time comes I'll test ride both but this has got the edge so far. Good review fellas.

    THANKS for the FANTASTIC review!
    Here’s what I saw these days. I live in Beijing, a city with strict rules on motorcycles. But on my way to work, I’ve seen at least 5 different Benneli Imperiale in a week. I mean, dude, it’s pretty popular among the bikers with a good taste of classic bikes in China. I also noticed the safety concerns about it. Well I have to say, it’s a hot topic in the biggest Chinese motor-related forum. Some says that the bike may tremble with speed over 70MPH.
    So for potential buyers, you may want to wait a couple of months for the new batch of products.

    I'm waiting to test ride one of these this week. To me at least, from the little I know, this bike should offer the "Joy" of owning a 1950s motorcycle without any of the "Pain" of constantly breaking down or having oil spots in the drive! RE have had to stop making the 500 Classic due to the emissions regulations. This Benelli Imperiale 400, being Euro 5 compliant should be a good option for riders who want to, or are forced to comply with emissions controls. I guess, if you are in a rush, this isn't for you, but if you want to experience the fun of a weekend out and look at the scenery on the way to a pub or cafe, this might just be the bike for you!

    This bike hits an untapped niche of the market: Simple, economical retro bike that _is not straining at its limits_ at highway/motorway/freeway speeds. I dont often comment on RUclips review videos....but feel i have to as a UK owner. Would seriously recommend getting hold of a second hand RE over one of these. Had mine since June and has never been right. When it is running the engine is lovely and smooth but where do I start.....
    1. The gearbox is atrocious on mine, in fact is under warranty repair at moment and the solution is too short a throttle cable.......now I cannot see this as the issue personally but I hope I am wrong, mainly for the fact that what is the QC like in the factory if this is so. 600 miles on clock and cannot use bike with no indication as to when it is coming back.
    2. Pricing for servicing is all over place at dealers, i paid almost a £140 for first service, others with bike have paid between £60 and £70 pound, surely consistentcy of pricing could be limited by importer?
    3. Fixings used are diabolical. Shear off at any attempt to tighten them, where they are generally loose. In fact I have removed the exhaust heat shield as two bolts had sheared off totally whilst driving and left me with ugly nuts welded onto silencer. The bolt remaining in nut couldnt be removed by any means and had started to chew into soft metal of the fastener, solution was to grind off nuts and not have a heat shield as dealer didnt seem bothered by this fact. I have changed the fixings where I go with Stainless Steel ones.
    4. The seat is not that comfy, well not compared to a RE one anyway. Hour in saddle is max I can manage.
    5. Brakes just really upto job nothing else, was shocked at how bad they are....and yes I am used to poor brakes :)
    6. Have had to adjust chain twice to take up slack, this is in 600 miles.
    I dont want to be a hater as really wanted to like the bike and tbh I may have been just unlucky......the UK owners forum has a couple of other owners suffering from niggly little issues, which shouldnt be on a new bike, no matter how cheap!! In comparision I have had cheap chinese 125cc bikes that cost me a third of this with no issue at all....
    Hope to get bike back soon and hopefully I can get some positivity back...

    I test rode one of these today. I was thinking of buying one to replace my BMW G310r (310cc Single so a reasonable comparison). Being a Brit bike owner I was hoping that, despite the lack of published BHP it might deliver it in a similar way to, for instance, my BSA C11 (250cc) whereas the BMW is obviously more "revvy".
    To be completely honest I've never been so disappointed in a bike. The one I rode (brand new) had no power, anywhere. I'd liken it to the feeling I got when I rode a Honda CB100N (many years ago) Completely flat and gutless. Can't really comment on handling or brakes as after a few miles I just took it back. I even queried with the dealer if there was something wrong with it. I Should add I've owned a lot of bikes and been riding for more years than I care to mention so this is not a kid wanting a bike to do 100mph, I didn't expect much but unfortunately go a lot less than I was hoping for. sorry Benelli.
    I would strongly advise test riding this bike before you buy (if that wasn't obvious) and hopefully it was just the bike I rode.

    • @jaquesdelarue6149
      @jaquesdelarue6149 3 года назад

      A brand new Imperiale does probably feel gutless. I'v bought mine with 60 kms on the clock and have been running it in very carefully. I've now 1700km and have much more power now. I think this bike needs a run in period of about 3000 kms. As a proper classic used to be in the old days.

    • @CosmikDebriis
      @CosmikDebriis 3 года назад

      @@jaquesdelarue6149 I'd be very worried about any modern bike needing a similar running in period to an old classic bike. Things, not least of all in metallurgy, have come a long way since then and, although I'm not suggesting red lining a bike from new, "Running in please pass" signs are (or at least should be) a thing of the past.
      For what it's worth I was going to buy the 650 RE but, as a comparison, also test rode the Triumph Street Twin and just couldn't live without it. Obviously loads more money but torque to die for and a quality feel second to none. (Sounds amazing too).

    I didn't know this bike existed until your video came up in my feed. It could be an option for me. The Benelli web site specifies a kick start but the bike you have there doesn't seem to have one.

      David Margetts OK that’s interesting! It’s a great bike with electric start! No kickstarter! Check it out because it’s very nice

      Hey Alia. Remember to running in patiently. It needs about 3000kms before reaching full potential.

    Hi.
    Been keeping an eye on this bike for awhile, positive reviews coming out of India.
    Think your excellent review is the first in the UK.
    A Bullet without the vibes ✌️😊.
    Having a look at one in the next couple of weeks so maybe an owner of one by the end of March.
    I'm looking at it as an everyday commuter motorcycle and occasional trips to Somerset from Sussex.
    Many thanks for the great review.
    Paul.

      I think if you ride one, you'll find it far more solid than the bullet, the Imperiale is over engineered and thus sits very well on the road (205kg)
