You have to turn auto circulate on when it’s really hot for the ac to get really cold or else it won’t since it will keep grabbing hot air from the outside
William Vagabond I had a 2016 Q50 Silver Sport rear wheel drive. I turned it in after the 39 month lease as the car was worth about $5,000 less than the residual. I have a Kia Stinger GT2 RWD now and I actually get better gas mileage on the highway with it despite its engine being a 3.3 liter instead of just the 3.0 liter in the Q50.
Thanks for going over the downsides of the Q50. Definitely helps to know what to expect. One of the first things I did to my Q50 is add paddle shifters. From my understanding, most are wired from the factory for paddles.

There is a setting that allows you to open all four doors when you grab the door handle. You can also turn off the annoying horn when you lock the car.
Re: door locks There is a safety reasons that they do the door locks the way they do. If you’re in a dark parking garage or parking lot, and you walk up to your car and put your hand on the door handle, it opens one door. If it open all the doors somebody could jump in from the other side and hijack your car. Re: spare tire I had the run flat tires and no spare on my 2015 Q50S. The tires were HORRIBLE! First chance I had, I went conventional and I needed a spare. So I went to the dealer and priced everything to put a spare in my car. They said $1645.00! The styrofoam pieces were &118.00 EACH! I found a guy that had it all on the Q50 website for $400 and $250 S&W.
Live near Nashville TN, where the summers are extremely humid and often reached near or over 100 F and near 0 F in the winter. The air freezes me out and the heat is HOT. No issues for me. Infotainment and Nav is good. If it had CarPlay, it would be perfect. It’s literally the only thing missing. The best part? The Q50 3.7 is over 300hp, and the 3.0T with proper bolt one and tune can near 500. To get that in a German competitor, you’re paying $50k used (not because of more value loss on the Q, but because of them being SO overpriced). You can’t lose with the Q. Once again, the only bad part is the outdated infotainment.
My man, you really need to get a 2015 Infiniti Q70L. I have it and it's amazing! It has heated and cooled seats for the front and rear seats. And also, the woodgrain interior is such a plus. A very clean look. Anyways though, I like the blue on your Q50 though

My 06 m45 and 08 g35xs had the option to change lock settings and many other things. Would be surprised if the q series didn't. Just need to dig a bit boost
I was driving a rental 2019 330i and I found the AC sucksssss in the 330i. It needs to always be on MAX AC for it to cool, and then it's just superrrr loud. The Q50's atleast you don't have to max it out and remains more silent.

My 19 signature edition's AC is freaking ice cold. Constantly have to turn down so it doesnt freeze me out. Coldest ac ive had in any new car and ive had 5 including this one since 2013.
My AC works great and my car has never needed extra oil in between my 5 thousand mile oil changes. But I have a q60 red sport awd and maybe the oil cooler and extra water pump make a bigger difference than people think
Everything you mentioned, I 100% agree with you. I drive a 2015 3.7s q50 awd. Good car but can be better for the price it's being sold at. Most annoying part about my q50 is no android/apple car play and that shit is lags. Also my a.c. does not blow as cold also and I live in Oregon, Portland. It don't get too hot here but when it does get hot, my a.c. doesn't work well. It only blows decently cold with driving. On a stand still, it doesn't blow cold until I start driving again. That stupid navigation knob, it's very, very useless. Folding back seats should be an option for all makes and models.
I'm a mechanic at Infiniti and he is 100% right about all of it. Very good review. Take his advise about the oil too, I would never drive my car more than 5000 miles on the same oil.

I've been looking at getting a 2018 the last couple of days. And I talked myself out of it. The car market is was to volatile currently. They are asking 25-30 k for these sport models that have less options than my 2014 Es350. I just had to tell a gang of dealerships nah ill wait till they come down to normal prices ie 20-22
As a q50 owner, I can say I agree with everything you have said. My ac blows pretty cold though, I change out the cabin filter every 6 months. I also added ceramic tint which made a big difference. As far as oil changes I do them myself using Amsoil or Pennzoil platinum 0w20 and a Wix filter every 5000 miles. When people ask me if they should get a q50 I tell them generally no unless they are car enthusiasts.
If it is under warranty then just do whatever they recommend for service. If it breaks they will cover it. I did the minimum service for my 2016 and everything is fine. My belt started to squeal and they replaced it under warranty.
BRO... you can change the Door Settings to UNLOCK ALL DOORS when you put your hand in the front door handles so you dont have to press the button. This works well for those who dont need all doors to be unlocked or have all doors to be unlocked if most of the time they'll have passengers. Let me know how it works for you. Great Content BTW!
i own a 2018 q60s (which i think is red sport in US). Door issues are fine for me because i only have 2. No android auto is the worst because google maps is superior. My car remembers the HVAC settings so i dont have to reset it. It also seems strong enough for Australian heat. Bose sound system is amazing. Can you buy after market double DINS to replace?? I'm not sure but i want to so I can have android auto. I hope they do a backwards update of the infotainment systems once android auto rolls out. I put my phone in the front cupholder too. Slow charging is annoying Drive mode doesnt save either that is so annoying! Glove box way too shallow since I keep my manual in there too. One new thing to add is theres not enough interior lighting in the car. If you want to find something in the back footwell without light at night good luck!

I had to replace two already 😒. Idk what made Infiniti think those tires would be great. That was a dumb decision. I'm disappointed in the car because my tires are so sensitive. It don't take the road well. I have popped 2 tires just going over bumps. I had to rent out another car to go out of state because of the fear of the tires. Luckily, I was able to get a Infiniti QX50. Love that SUV.
The Q50 May be discontinued instead of being replaced. The Q50 sales are abysmal this year but their large SUV sales are quite good. Next year they will introduce a new small SUV (Think QX40) and not necessarily a new Q50.
I don't think so. You know the G35 coupe/sedan helps save the Infiniti brand not to long ago right? And then they change the name from the "G" to the "Q" so I highly doubt that Infiniti will not make a replacement. I belief Infiniti will make a replacement for the Q50 but I could be wrong. Late to the party but...; My car has smart entry on the back doors as well so I can get into the car through either door, back, front, left, right. Also, my AC is plenty cold. I mean on very hot days, I have to crank the blower speed a little higher, like level 4 & above. I agree that the Infotainment is a little slow and not very functional.

You can honestly go to autozone and buy the akebono calipers remanufactured for $232 each. That’s just the front. That’s what I did last year. They bolt right up once you buy the bigger rotors
They did the 2 step because of safety. They didn't want it so as youre getting in the car someone hiding on the other side can hop in to the back or passengers

I've been following the Telsa aftermarket unit it has gotten better through its versions but they still other devices that can perform just as good or even better

LOOKS POWER HANDLING, I came from a Maxima as well, before my G35XS. You can't even start to compare them. Like Boost I have a few little tricks for next to no money and you are in the high 3s 0-60 and and as Johnny points out A CVT. Slap me silly if I ever by a car with a CVT. Also think you are off on the money when talking Red Sport 400, way more than 20K dif but oh so worth it.
IMHO the Bose system is lacking. The "equalizer" only has bass and treble. No midrange adjustment. It is bright and to much base. I've tried every setting to boost midrange to no avail. My bitch is i don't like recirculate as the hot default. It also defaults in auto to upper vents only. I prefer outside air and both feet and vents at the same time. Doors not all unlocking at the same time is a safety for keeping undesirable "folks" from getting in your car. The courtesy lightning handle is NBD to me as the interior lights go on when the front opens.. a double click on the unlock button on the key fob also opens all 4 doors. I have a RS so got the BBK. The 2018 Silver Sport has them. I thought the S had them too but am wrong. Humm. I'm getting the BBK AP Radi-Cal II's so will be selling my RS brakes and Z1 rotors shortly. Going to 6 piston front, 4 piston rear. 😁😎 Google access & Car play in the infotainment would be very nice too, but I just use my smartphone and use XM. So NBD. If I could bluetooth my phone to the infotainment system and have full access that would be nice. The top button is a PITA I often bump it when manually shifting and mess up my top screen. They should have had more force to depress the button! Uggg. That one really gets me. Royal PITA.
Wish this car has a LSD, with traction control off when i shift at 5500rpm, from 1st to 2nd car just wants to go sideways. Very hesitant to turn traction control off nowadays, do you ever have this issue.

I actually loved the Q50S 3.0T with a Burger JB4 tune I drove. It spooled faster then I expected. However put you in the same RPM range the the G37 had(Same Trans) I absolutly hated the huge double screens in center of the dash. Hated the fact the steering colum did not move like the G. But the Speedo looked more like a cockpit. I really hated the seats. I hate the fake leather/cloth look. The interior just looked cheap not only to compared the G series but also any other car in the class. My old Toyota Camry XLE was better. You were spot on with the HVAC. I hate it with a passion. My G stays on what I put it on.

I can get 40 MPG on the highway with my Q50 hypermiling. The Q50 actually has one of the best drag coefficients on the market.

I love my Q50/2015! The things i don't like is the small trunk, the small glove box and thesmall back seats and they lack of fold in mirrors!

The a/c on my 2017 is ice cold, I bought a spare belt for 20 bucks on rock auto and keep it in my trunk just in case.

You can honestly go to autozone and buy the akebono calipers remanufactured for $232 each. That’s just the front. That’s what I did last year. They bolt right up once you buy the bigger rotors
If you had to pick, art pipes or muffler delete which would you choose ? I hear art pipes smell horrible and all I care about a deeper sound
They did the 2 step because of safety. They didn't want it so as youre getting in the car someone hiding on the other side can hop in to the back or passengers

I've been following the Telsa aftermarket unit it has gotten better through its versions but they still other devices that can perform just as good or even better

@@Us3r_404 I have a neighbor with a turbo set up on his G35 but he complains of issues, He has the GTR Fuel pump and Uprev and single exhaust, The Stillen Supercharger is more reliable IMO

About the AC, I thought it was just mine, I've a premium 3.7 2015 and the AC is not cold enough either.
I have the same car, the 2015 3.7 premium and I thought it was just me. I even had the AC serviced and it still doesn't get cold enough
oil change 10k is not crazy. bmw does 15k for oil change. i had 2 335XI COUPE BOTH OF THEM ARE JUST FINE
The same spare tires from any G37 with work with any Q50 Q60 out there dealer say no because they sells the spare for $300 plus....you can get on ebay for $100

LOOKS POWER HANDLING, I came from a Maxima as well, before my G35XS. You can't even start to compare them. Like Boost I have a few little tricks for next to no money and you are in the high 3s 0-60 and and as Johnny points out A CVT. Slap me silly if I ever by a car with a CVT. Also think you are off on the money when talking Red Sport 400, way more than 20K dif but oh so worth it.
IMHO the Bose system is lacking. The "equalizer" only has bass and treble. No midrange adjustment. It is bright and to much base. I've tried every setting to boost midrange to no avail. My bitch is i don't like recirculate as the hot default. It also defaults in auto to upper vents only. I prefer outside air and both feet and vents at the same time.
Doors not all unlocking at the same time is a safety for keeping undesirable "folks" from getting in your car. The courtesy lightning handle is NBD to me as the interior lights go on when the front opens.. a double click on the unlock button on the key fob also opens all 4 doors.
I have a RS so got the BBK. The 2018 Silver Sport has them. I thought the S had them too but am wrong. Humm. I'm getting the BBK AP Radi-Cal II's so will be selling my RS brakes and Z1 rotors shortly. Going to 6 piston front, 4 piston rear. 😁😎
Google access & Car play in the infotainment would be very nice too, but I just use my smartphone and use XM. So NBD. If I could bluetooth my phone to the infotainment system and have full access that would be nice.
The top button is a PITA I often bump it when manually shifting and mess up my top screen. They should have had more force to depress the button! Uggg. That one really gets me. Royal PITA.

Wish this car has a LSD, with traction control off when i shift at 5500rpm, from 1st to 2nd car just wants to go sideways. Very hesitant to turn traction control off nowadays, do you ever have this issue.

I actually loved the Q50S 3.0T with a Burger JB4 tune I drove. It spooled faster then I expected. However put you in the same RPM range the the G37 had(Same Trans)
I absolutly hated the huge double screens in center of the dash. Hated the fact the steering colum did not move like the G. But the Speedo looked more like a cockpit. I really hated the seats. I hate the fake leather/cloth look.
The interior just looked cheap not only to compared the G series but also any other car in the class. My old Toyota Camry XLE was better.
You were spot on with the HVAC. I hate it with a passion. My G stays on what I put it on.
