when color mixing with paint its best to not use "traditional" primaries because they tend to make secondary colors look bland and muddy, for purple mix pinks with blues instead of reds for a more vibrant purple :) 💕💙 not 🔵🔴
Or fabric paint but textile medium is smarter if you already have acrylics. I'm just dumb and didn't know about that before so I got fabric paint instead.

Purple is an annoyingly specific colour, you need 2 perfect hues of red and blue so I just mix purple by doing blue and pink (like magenta pink), it works better than red and blue
to mix purple try using magenta/pink paint and blue, and in general if you wanna get better at mixing different colors just look up some color theory vids cause they're rlly helpful.

I know this is a bit late, but mix magenta with cyan and you get a nicer purple than cad. red and straight blue. Like, look for colors like Ultramarine blue, and Alizarin crimson, or cyan with permanent rose. the result will be much better. I know that mixing pain as a painter.

I think textile medium actually creates a film within the binding of the paint to adhere it better to fabrics and prevent chipping 👽

Actually it's because red is magenta+yellow. Of course purple will look brown if it has yellow on it

Fun tip, you can mix water into the acrylic paint, it will make the acrylic paint soak into the fabric and also help it not be so stiff!

for PURPLE, try using WHITE as a base then add appropriate amount of BLUE and RED.

When making purple I always always ALWAYS use pink instead of red to mix with blue. It makes a perfect purple and doesn't make a doo doo shade.

something you could also do as opposed to freehanding is printing on paper then making a template. Came out great either way tho!!
The fabric medium also helps with the paint cracking if you don't want it to!
