    Guilty Gear is not a Fighting Game
    Guilty Gear is a Banger Album that comes with a Free Fighting game
    Mirror of the World and Let me Carve your way are so long that you can't even listen to the full song in game
    Find your One Way makes every fight feel like a literal brawl
    and Drift will literally make you stop fighting to listen to that sweet sweet disney song part

    In A Moments Time and Moonsiders are probably two of my favorite songs ever, even though I haven’t touched the game for the latter. You’d think fighting games would be the last genre to do it, but these two songs have made me feel more emotion than almost anything else. It’s a strange, almost sad emotion, but it’s a special one.

    one thing I wished you would mention was versus themes. stuff like Under Heaven Destruction (Ragna vs Jin) from Blazblue, Keep the Flag Flying (Order Sol vs Ky) from Guilty Gear, Way to the Horizon (Rock vs Geese) from KOF and so much more. there is so much you can say about these songs and how they not only have to encapsulate 2 different characters, but also their dynamics and relationships in musical format. (and Strive not having any versus themes is yet another proof that it's not a Guilty Gear game)

    Music for fighting games is extremely important. This video randomly appeared on my feed since I hear a lot of music (and play fighting games who knew). I have to agree. As a kid I didn't pay that much attention (besides MvC2 chara select that was great). It wasn't until I started getting into more games like Guilty Gear R2, Blazblue (specially this one) that made me realize how amazing the OSTs for these games was. Skullgirls ost have been living kinda rent free on my head too for quite a while, specially the character select theme. I love how bombastic Guilty Gear music is, I love the lyrics. One day, my old anime fighter newbie and Xrd fan self decided to buy this "Under Night" game it seemed pretty sick. My expectations weren't particularly high, and Xrd's character select is hype so I didn't expect to be blown away or anything when I clicked the "Training" menu option. And then Gathers Under Night's first few notes played. I spend about 5 mins just there staring at the character select screen and listening to that shit. I still get hype every time I open the UNI character select screen for any reason. Absolutely insane character select theme.

    I find a fighting games that have a strong soundtrack don't just build hype for the players, but any spectators as well. One soundtrack that is just absolutely incredible is Killer Instinct 2013. It's dynamic music makes even more exciting. Fight slows down, the music is more subdued. Fight intensifies and the music explodes with energy. If there is one song I always love to highlight in the game it's Maya's theme City of Dawn.
    As for other awesome fighting game songs, I gotta mention Moonlit Wilderness from Tekken 5. It's intense and makes any fight on that stage feel like a climactic showdown between two rivals in an action movie or anime.
    As for boss themes, the one that has recently been stuck in my head is Crawl from the Guilty Gear Strive soundtrack.
    I can't believe I almost forgot to mention the awesomeness that is The King of Fighters XIII soundtrack I don't think there's any song in that game that I even remotely dislike. But the highlight song for me there is Each Promise which is Team Elizabeth's theme.

    • @VirtualMementos
      @VirtualMementos  2 года назад

      Moonlit Wilderness is one I didn't think of before the video aaaa! That one is up there for me too. But as someone who used to just watch a lot of matches, the music can help build up so much hype and tension. Some soundtracks go WAYYYYYY beyond what's needed to like Guilty Gear and the game gets even better for it.
      Will look into the KOF games soon too since I never played any aside from a tiny bit of XV :)

      @@VirtualMementos Moonlit Wilderness is definitely in like the top 3 reasons why Tekken 5 is my favourite Tekken. And if you end up checking out KOF I recommend either 98, 2002 UM and XIII.

    It might sound weird, but fighting games having great music is a huge reason why I get into them at all. Not that I can't get into games without their songs being out of the park, but they really help set the overall mood. KOF13/14, Melty Blood CC, Under Night, SF3/4, BBTAG, stuff with amazing tracks can get me to check a game out, let alone spend hours labbing out with said themes playing. It extends to games like Hotline Miami, VA-11 HALL-A, osts can make me buy a game if it's *that* good. Not that they're the only ones that I like, but still.
    FighterZ is lucky it's so enjoyable, it's the only fighter I turn music off for with how mediocre it is imo. It's not bad per say, but nothing I'd listen to during a match, practice, or anything beyond that over whatever I can pull up on YT.
