It’s actually OK. Better than expected. As i’ve said before our shape & lights is the one i will always regard as the classic EV6. That’s the shape i fell in love with & still love to this day.
Yeah I agree. I'm a big fan of the current design. The new one might grow on me though. Seeing the video of the actual vehicle it does look better than the renderings.
Can't tell from the photo's but I'm guessing they got rid of the piano black center console finish, but it appears that they kept the buttons at the end of the center console which are easy to accidentally touch. I agree about headlights, not sure I'm a fan of the redesign but would like to know more about the differences/benefits of a projector-type of light. Perhaps a future episode?
Yeah I believe they got rid of the piano black. For the headlights, projector headlights provide much better and even light output. They are brighter and more uniform, and illuminate the road better as well as to the sides of the vehicle. They also in many vehicles are adaptive and are able to move.
Hate the redesigned front. Current model design is way more cohesive front to back. This feels disjointed. But the range and efficiency improvements are nice. Hope the new ADAS features are much improved. Maybe hands free like GM Supercruise.
We have the Kia EV6 GT line and have been enjoying it since we purchased it in August of 2022. Like others mentioned, maybe the new headlight design will grow on us but will have to see in person. The digital rear view mirror and wireless CarPlay is a nice addition. Happy to see Kia making improvements and coming out with more EV’s!
It looks okay. I'm not a fan of the new headlight design or the wheels. The new steering wheel looks decent. The bigger battery doesn't offer enough of a range improvement to make me jealous. Hopefully the next generation will be a substantial jump.
Yeah the headlights I'll need to see in person I think. They look better in real video vs the renderings. The steering wheel does look good. The battery I'm with you, not really enough of a change to make me jealous. Definitely a refresh, not a redesign. In a few more years we'll probably get some substantial changes.
I'm fairly certain it will have the NACS port. The USA version will be revealed a little later in the year. I'd think it'd be revealed several months before it's available and by then, Kia/Hyundai will have access to superchargers, so NACS makes sense.
I like the refresh, design language and all. Do the updates apply to only the 2025 or still there be a mid year/2024.5? I'm asking because earlier reporting often pointed to a mid cycle.
Yeah the new infotainment is one of the most significant changes, and a positive one. I doubt they put a cooling fan on the wireless charger though unfortunately. Automakers tend to just leave it in the open and hope it cools phones enough.
I like the new front end, looks modern but those new wheels are HORRENDOUS!!!! I love the wheels on my GTline but thse new Kia wheels are ridiculous... they would fit well on Hyundais lol These new wheels would be a deal breaker for me, I would not want to spend $1.5k to fix those wheels with some descent ones..
Haha I get that. You may be able to negotiate something with the dealership though to purchase a new one and then swap the wheels from the old to the new one.
My wishlist for the new EV6 refresh, even though I don't know if any would get me to upgrade from my 2023 AWD GT-Line... - Refreshed chemistry 84kWh battery from the 2025 Ioniq 5 - Manual pre-conditioning button from the EV9 - Matrix projector-beam headlights (though I don't love the new design) - Amber progressive turn signals front & rear - charge port illumination - Add a NACS port on the left without removing the CCS port on the right - cooling for the wireless charger - OEM bin organizers for the center consoles / sunglasses storage. - Better audio system
Yeah I think we'll get some of that in the USA except the amber lights, NACS on the left with CCS on the right (I think we'll just get NACS), cooling for wireless charger, oem organizers, and I think they'll probably stick with the same audio system.
Looks like they are keeping the controls that double as climate and the stereo. I’d have liked to see that changed. The refresh on the Ioniq 5 looks to be much more beneficial. I’d like to see NACS on both.
@@TechnicallyJeff Yea, makes sense to prefer leaning over and looking for a touch point to change inputs/channel/track/volume rather than just using buttons right in front of you…
So far i don’t really like the new look. Out current model looks more agressive 😅 However i would like to upgrade the rear view mirror to LCD … I guess there is also a wireless CarPlay. Finally i’m curious to see if they updated the interior colors.
Yeah I agree, the current model looks more aggressive in my opinion. The headlights just look great, but need projectors in the USA. The LCD mirror is nice and the wireless Carplay/Android Auto. I did see a brown interior color. I don't think the EV6 has that now does it?
@@TechnicallyJeff i completely agree. Projectors need to come to the US. I have the first edition EV6 with full black interior. This is not offered on the website for GT Lines (yet? ;p) Hopefully the color blind designer has been moved to another department and we get nice interior colors this year 😅
CCNC is definitely something that I had hoped for in my 2023 EV6 GT. BTW Jeff, as you were the owner of EV6 GT Line before, is there a noticeable difference in the ride quality between GT and GT Line? I feel like the only thing that I don't really like about my GT is the ride quality, as I can feel every little bump and pebble on the ground. I am thinking of changing my wheel size to 19" as I heard from people on Reddit that it gives better range and ride quality to the GT. Do you think changing down to 19" inch will help with that and is it worth it for comfort?
I had a wind before. But honestly no, not much if a difference in ride quality. What are your tire pressures? Going to a 19" with a ticket sidewall can definitely help
In regard to the GT, it’s meant to be for folks which like a more sporty type of car.. there for also the bucket seats and as the adaptive suspension which is to give you more grip and a sporty feel.. In different words you picked the wrong type of the EV6 .. lowering the pressure in the tires will not help you at all, especially if ur on the 21 inch wheels If you really like a more SUV feeling and hate that sportish - responsive type of driving, than i would suggest you switch to 19inch wheels instead, with tires which have a higher profile .. alternatively don’t switch in to the sport mode
I am not a fan of that new front end. Ome of the things that attracted me to the current EV6 is the clean sleak lines. In an age of cars that look like they were penned by 7 different people, it looks cohesive. This new one does not.
I saw Motograph's video, and I do think the 2025 GT-Line looks quite nice when it comes to the exterior. I prefer the rear, right now the front I'm a bit mixed, but I feel like it will grow on me and probably others. The reason I say this is because I have the 2024 EV6, and that vehicle is a lot nicer in person in my opinion, so I think this might look nicer in person too.
I'm like you Jeff, don't know if I like the headlights yet but still love the EV6. BTW Safford Kia can't get me in until June to do my ICCU recall. That sucks but looking forward to it. Great video brother keep up the awesome content. (Have you put the GT on the track yet)
Yep exactly. And yeah same here, my date is June 4th haha. I appreciate it! No trakc time yet. Hopefully going to take it drag racing soon. And then out on the road course at Dominion whenever I get a chance with @evresource
I too… Need to see changes in person on “ what lands in the US”. Enjoy your KiA EV 6 GT! BTW I digress … I only owned one EV, our EV 6 Gt Line… I like how once you plug in to charge “ She tells me with a loud voice “ Charging “ or “ Charging Scheduled” Do most EVs have that audible confirmation ? Little things… I never use the fob Self Park and pull in / out of tight parking…
Yeah we'll see how I feel in person haha. Thank you! Regarding the voice confirmation of charging, no I don't think many others do that. It is pretty cool haha. I have used the key fob for parking though. That's nice when it's tight.
I’ve been researching MSRP ON new 2024 Ev6’s. I have discovered that I can purchase a 2020,2021 used Tesla Model “S” Long Range Dual Motor or Performance Model for the price of a new Kia EV6. Seems like a no brainer! Already NACS compliant, faster, more Luxury, better software, FSD ETC.
Yeah I didn't see a rear wiper. I don't really have a problem there though. My 2022 had no issues in 2 years. For the amber signals, I doubt that's coming. That's usually an overseas thing. You can swap them in though.
@TechnicallyJeff I've seen the forum posting on the wire harness to use for the rear amber turn signal installation on US spec EV6 and the install videos to swap them out. If they make the initial illumination of the rear amber turn signal large enough then the US can get them. I was trying to find the regulation but I couldn't.
@@TechnicallyJeff I think I found it. The rear turn signal size requirements are in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) No. 108 and if I read it correctly then it requires 2200 sq mm for a compartment of the rear turn signal lamp with a total of 5000 sq mm. So I think the rear amber turn signals could possibly be made to comply with US regulations. I guess we'll find out soon. 😀
Yeah I could too haha. 240v though is in the EV6 outside the USA though since that's how the rest of the world operates. It's just 120v in the USA because for it to have appliances plugged into it, it'd need to be 120v.
What I’ve seen so far does not make me want to replace my 2022 model EV6 with a 2025. Looks more like a cosmetic refresh. Kia took the cheap way out. Kia is missing opportunities to make this an outstanding vehicle. This is what I feared. I hope Kia gives us a version of the Hyundai “N” model. If not Kia EV6 fanboys sales will be killed off. Too much competition-got to keep it fresh. Also interested in what pricing will be! Also all the ICCU problems , will that be addressed. Guess time will tell!
Yeah definitely not a major refresh. Minor body and light changes. Minor interior changes. They are changes for the better on the interior though. For the GT, I feel like they will be bringing some features from the Ioniq 5 N. The current EV6 GT honestly is solid. So for the GT I'm expecting the new body changes and interior upgrades, slightly bigger battery, new wheels (and hopefully new tires), and maybe some of the trick tech from the N (simulated shifting, fake engine sound, etc). As for the ICCU, I'm sure they'll be using updated hardware there. At least I hope haha.
Not a fan. I love the headlights on our current EV6 way better. IMO they look more aggressive currently which I like, however I really wish they were projector... The new wheels are horrible. The new steering wheel is nice and the gauge looks like its curved which is nice. Would've loved to see them add a sentry mode like the Teslas since we have all those cameras, but oh well.
Yeah I do like the current headlights more, but I'm hopeful the new ones will grow on me. I wish more manufacturers would do the sentry mode thing. It would be really nice to have.
I'll write the same comment I wrote on the Korean gal's channel: the exterior is definitely _looking_ like a complete downgrade for the sake of brand homogeneity. They needed to reel this car in to make it look more like the rest of the lineup, which is a net negative when the EV6 was your best looking car since discontinuing the Stinger. I don't like how they opted to keep the original tail light housing but use less *of* it. It would seem the bulk of the light in there now, is for braking rather than design. I don't like that those segmented lights can be seen in the housing when not in use and given that they're just brake lights now, when they were on full-time with the last car, they will of course see less use. The whole front end is something that, when I look at it, I can sort of tell its one of those things that probably just looks better in person than it does on camera? The front end looks fatter to me which is not a good thing. I liked the black space between the lights mimicking an air intake and they've shortened the _height_ of the lower grille in favor of making it wider which just means more body color space in the front which is helping create that 'fatter' look. Inside is an improvement overall. The ambient lighting pattern looks worse but this video didn't do a wonderful job of showing it so that's just a guess. The two things I hated the most about the EV6 got fixed. They dumped the gloss black plastic and they added power-adjusting steering wheel. Two things that this car should've come like the first time. There's also other QOL updates. The much-needed addition of wireless phone projection will be coming along. Owners of the pre face-lift are *STILL* waiting for an update from Kia to get that. Another downgrade would be the front trunk. Looks like they've made it even smaller than before, probably lending to them having a bigger battery than the first time and presumably different/revised drive motors that are eating up more space. I guess people who are wanting power-opening hoods with actually usable frunk space are going to keep waiting. Then again, I can't be livid about it. It is a refresh after all. I like the new wheel designs more than the outgoing models. I'll be looking to swap to those, probably, once I can confirm that in person. Other than that though I guess I can be happy, because this refresh doesn't make me feel shit about my EV6, cuz mine still looks better than this one.
@@TechnicallyJeff there are covers you can buy but you knew that I'm sure. Some existing ones look like what they opted to go as standard for 2025. I wish I could upgrade to power-adjusting wheel.
@@TechnicallyJeff ah, well. That's the unfortunate part about being a small RUclipsr that brands send cars to. Me? I've never experienced it, so idk what I'm missing. I hardly interact with my screen at all other than to mess with Google Maps. But I don't mind the current system. Everything is where I'd expect it to be.
Tbh the EV6 Infotainment System isn't bad at all. I use my tbox plus all the time and it works fine with it. I just would prefer the ccNC because it enables OTA updates for everything, including vehicle systems.
I'm not a fan of the new headlights. Everything else seems find or even an upgrade. I like the digital rear camera and think that will likely make it to the US, at least on the GT-line trim. I wish Kia would bring the rear turn signals to the US but imagine my hopes will be crushed again. And I love getting rid of the piano black inside! I'll be looking forward to the announcement of what the US versions will look like.
Don't hold your breath if I'm being honest. I only want the rear turn signals to come to the US so that it will be cheaper to do this mod on my current 23 GT. That rear digital mirror probably won't make it as honestly the EV6 doesn't really need it vs the pre-refresh Ioniq 5. The announcement for the US should come in Fall with the cars being ready by early next year.
Liked the video but don't like the revision at all. They changed way too much for no reason whatsoever. The front is ugly imo. All they had to do was make a new bumper if anything. Same goes with the rear which the GT-line bumper now looks like a 10th gen CTR. I just got my 23 GT earlier this year and I'm sure glad that I did and yes I saw the spy shots prior to getting it. That was one of the reason for me getting it now vs waiting for the revised one. No more gloss black! I'm glad they finally realized this. Here is to hoping that they bring the over those rear turn signals so that I could do this mod for a lot cheaper. The asking price for those turn signals are crazy right now. I would still pay for them but I don't want to. 😊
Yeah I get they want their EVs to have the same general look, but I wish they had kept the same headlights we have now, or similar. Who knows though, in person it might be okay. And yeah one of the reasons I got my 2023 GT too was I wasn't the biggest fan of the spy shots styling lol. I don't think we'll get those amber signals though. They seem to always be an overseas thing.
The Kia and the Hyundai are so gd ugly, though. Seriously hideous, reminds me of Merkur from the 80s. I can't drive a car that literally makes me laugh out loud and shake my head simultaneously.

Yeah I love my 2023 GT front end and wheels - front end on this just doesn’t do it for me - cant get past those terrible lights !
Yeah I agree, though I think it will look better in person
Love allmost all updates but the old front lights are better
Agreed
THEY SHOULD DO A TWO DOOR VERSION??
That would be cool
I'll write the same comment I wrote on the Korean gal's channel:
the exterior is definitely _looking_ like a complete downgrade for the sake of brand homogeneity.
I wish there was a way to upgrade our current model interiors.
@@TechnicallyJeff there are covers you can buy but you knew that I'm sure. Some existing ones look like what they opted to go as standard for 2025. I wish I could upgrade to power-adjusting wheel.
I mean to the ccNC system
I think the digital mirror will come as well, likely as you said maybe on the GT-Line. I don't think we'll get the amber signals though.
Yeah I don't think we'll get the amber signals in the USA.
Heaven help us if they still use the reflector headlights AGAIN in the US
Haha I know right. I highly doubt they make that mistake again though.
Hmm steering wheel swap in my future
Me too haha
Not a fan, don't like the ights, the wheels the dash and the steering wheel.
I like the steering wheel, though I do wish the Kia logo was centered. Who thinks off center looks good? lol
The Kia and the Hyundai are so gd ugly, though. Seriously hideous, reminds me of Merkur from the 80s. I can't drive a car that literally makes me laugh out loud and shake my head simultaneously.
Yeah? Even current gen?
