I have been watching your videos all morning. I have learned quite a bit from your videos. I am a mechanic by trade but my small engine skills were lacking.... that is the reason I decided to check out your videos. I'm sold, your knowledge is awsome.
Hey Stella! I just found your channel after watching you on Micks live video yesterday. What an awesome channel you have, excellent video quality, audio quality, camera angles and way of conveying your content. Really enjoyed it all, thanks for sharing - I’ve just subscribed! Regards, Tom from Australia.
I love your videos!! At first I thought you were just another woman for show working on mowers. I soon realized that man she knows what she is talking about!!! I love it!! Your videos are awesome and very thorough! Thank you! Watching from Falkville Al.
Thank you for this video…I don’t do a lot of 2 stroke. My repair was unsuccessful for what I think is the diaphragm being a little too hard. I ended up ordering a new aftermarket carb for cost reasons. I’m contemplating on just robbing the gaskets from the aftermarket carb
The whole time I was thinking, “Why is Stella doing all that stuff instead of dumping all the old fuel first and running the correct mix through it until it clears up the smoking?” In the end I’m grateful you did the rest or I never would have discovered my next toy to purchase - that really nice tach! Thanks so much for all the work you put into this, especially all the details in the description. 🙏👍🔧🧰
There’s a link in the description for that tach. Sort of overkill for lawnmowers. I purchased it for motorcycles, but it’s handy all around. I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
The Lawnmower Lady Oh, I’ve already followed the link and bookmarked it! I got a remote tach a few months ago and it works just fine, but it’s kind of small and doesn’t have nearly the capabilities of yours. Being able to retain measurements as well as measuring ignition voltage are strong selling points. I was wondering if that tool could do a better job of determining fault with coils and plugs than inline spark testers. Have you used it for that at all? I work on all kinds of small engine equipment so a more capable tach would be well used.
@@Rein_Ciarfella interesting, I have not used it for that, I should next time I’m testing for spark. Sometimes it’s difficult to find a good ground that still allows me to see the tester while pulling on the starter. The proximity of how far the probe can detect is pretty large. The only thing that confused me at first was many small engine systems use a wasted spark ignition. So I have to set the tester for two cylinders instead of one. I guess I could just do the math…
The Lawnmower Lady That proximity would be very valuable, especially on things like mowers and chainsaws (where I need two hands)! Now I’m gonna have to go down another learning rabbit hole and teach myself what a wasted spark system is. 😉😂👍🔧🧰

I have two of those exact same weed eaters. Had em for over 6 years now never had a problem with them. Husqvarna is my favorite and go to brand. They've been reliable to me. The Smoke could be to much oil in the fuel or it is running rich. Pump diaphragm could also be the problem.

Just want to tell you thanks for saving my honda mower. Now its the new to me Husqvarna weed eater purchased like 5 yrs ago at lowes, don't know the model, but the one that takes the attachments. Now I had to run it for say like 12 mins in 1/2 choke as otherwise dies out on me. As time went on, I could move the handle further toward full run but If I went to far would just die. Think I switched the inlet and outlet fuel lines, something else, maybe carb needs a cleaning? Think I can get away with just a fuel additive cleaner?
Happy to help. Probably need to clean out the fuel inlet screen on that carb, new fuel filter as well, and check the spark arrestor screen is not clogged. Thanks for watching. Many of the videos in this playlist show how to clean that style of carb: ruclips.net/p/PLscwXOlCLzlxo_dEcDTBgzz_2l1Hw-N6u Cheers!
Definitely sounds like a fuel delivery issue. Either the tank fuel filter is clogged or the tiny fuel inlet screen inside the carburetor might be clogged. I don’t suspect a bad tank vent. Those carbs are very similar, so the same procedure I showed in this video. Thanks for watching. Cheers!
You can find parts easily typing the model number and the words "parts diagram" in google or another search engine. You should get multiple hits at several parts houses. I'd call first to ensure the part is on the shelf ready to ship. Some don't list real time inventory online. Hope this helps!

Thanks JB! I had a Miti-Vac brake bleeder kit already, bought the fuel pressure gauge at autoparts store. ruclips.net/video/HbSbugUHTxA/видео.html I appreciate you watching!
I just bought a kit for my 128 husky on Amazon for 15 dollars. The kit is comprised of a carburetor, spark plug, air filter, fuel filter, fuel lines, gasket, adjustment tool. and an additional primer bulb. Unbelievable eh. Before I got the kit, I got it running by cleaning the screen filter in the carburetor.
I always have Fel-Pro 3157 gasket material on hand for various projects. I probably would have cut that gasket with scissors, exacto knife, & punches rather than forking out $15 for a new one. I must admit, though, some gaskets are easy to cut but that one is a bear, probably would take a half hour. For me as basically a hobbyist that's okay. For you as a business person, maybe not.
Unfortunately, diagnosing over the internet is difficult. That said, start with the basics: spark, fuel, and air. Each of those entail other issues: air is more than a clean air filter. What is the compression? Have you checked for crank vacuum and/or pressure leaks? Another channel @VintageEngineRepairs he does a lot more 2-stroke repairs and diagnosis. I hope you get it sorted out. Thanks for watching.
My Husqvarna 128ld starts good, runs good but idles bad, even after adjusting the idling the mixture screws. It starts perfect on a cold start, it runs perfect at full throttle, but it's idling between 3800 and 4200 rpms. When I adjust the idle screw and L screw to the manufacturer idle speed (which is 2300-3200 and I try to keep between 2800 and 3200 rpms) it idles for about 15 seconds then shuts off. I have purchased three different carburetors, "New spark plug, replaced the fuel filter, fuel lines and air filter. I like to keep my lawn equipment in great running condition so if anyone could help me troubleshoot or diagnose this problem it would be highly appreciated.
You don't say where you are buying carbs. If aftermarket, the quality is hit/miss. Beyond that, you might be chasing down air leaks from bad seals, or impulse circuit. I would pressure and vacuum test the crankcase, to eliminate bad crank seals.
@@TheLawnmowerLady Thank you for responding, but I think I figured out the problem. I had been running it too lean, so I added a little extra oil to the fuel mixture then purchased a compression tester and got a 140psi. So from now on I'll drop down from a 50:1 to a 30:1 then eventually go up to 40:1 fuel mixture. I'd rather have a clogged spark arrestor than a scored piston......
@@Thomas-nz4uh Careful there, if it is indeed running lean, adding more oil only makes the fuel mix leaner. More oil = less fuel = scored piston. Fuel is cooling. If running lean, adjust the high speed screw to allow more fuel into the mix, but use the recommended fuel/oil ratio.
@@TheLawnmowerLady That's where I get confused, adjusting the H/L screws to make it run rich or lean. I have a digital tachometer and the max rpm's required for this model trimmer is 8000 (H screw) and the idle mixture is between 2300-3200. So should I adjust the H screw above or below 8000rpms, and the idle mixture screw (L) I try to keep at 3000, should I adjust the L screw above or below 3000rpm's?

I'm always amazed at the abuse these thing take and keep on running.
