The face you sculpted is SO cute!! I definitely agree with you on sharing techniques, I love to share and teach others what I've learned! I have learned so much from others, who freely shared their techniques and tips, I wish to do the same. Keeping some trade secrets is quite alright, I do not feel that I need to do so. Even if someone sat next to me and copied everything I did, the end product would still look different, because everyone has their own style and ideas. That's one thing I really love about art. I live in the USA, and I watched Art Attack on television as a kid! (:
Even if someone sat next to me and copied everything I did, the end product would still look different, because everyone has their own style and ideas. - EXACTLY! Thanks for the kind words.
I agree to ! I'm also sharing my work on youtube because I've been happy to learn how to make artdolls with other's tutorials ! And you've totally right. Even creatuers are copied, the end result is not the same ! I'm "hating" people who keep secrets or requiest paiement for share techniques..
I am very grateful that you're sharing your techniques, sculpting art dolls and creating creatures is what I want to do but I really had no idea where to start, thank you so much. I agree with you 100 percent, even if two people were using the exact same materials and techniques they would make two different items., that's another great thing about art, it's individual.
Your kindness and views on this craft are absolutely uplifting. Several years ago I was deterred from the craft by another artist, but your pleasant chatter during your wonderful videos have encouraged me to begin my journey in this craft. Thank you for your works and videos. It has been very encouraging and enjoyable! ❤
I did my first dragon this way but only after several failed approaches. This video would have made it easy. Thanks for sharing this joyful creation process for those of us that learn from watching.
Thank you for sharing something that many won't. This is something that I want to do and self learning can be great, but when people who have done it encourage others with their tips and tricks to make us better or inspire us more. That's a blessing. Thank you.
I make creatures myself and I found out that fuzzy pipecleaners work just as good for helping to shape the legs along with using the stuffing that you use to wrap around the wire body. Before I made creatures I always made them out of pipecleaners I started at a young age but then about a year ago I learned how to make these dolls and I loved this new way better. And thank you for sharing how you make these it really does help.
I remember Art Attack! I just stumbled on your video as I love the idea of one day making some art dolls of my own and you have a lovely attitude to sharing skills, which is super invaluable. Do you remember "The Head" from Art Attack? "Hello, it's Me, The Head." He could never do any art right, poor chap.
Hey there! You said that you'd like ideas on things you could try to help with our own project-y things right? I'm currently working on making an armature stop motion doll at the moment and I'm racking my brain on how to go about it..do you think this is something you'd maybe want to try? Your techniques seem very familiar to that of how they build up bodies for stop motion films so I just thought it might be something that would be somewhat interesting for you to try (as in human figures, opposed to animals which seems to be what you usually do) without diverging too far from what you already know :) Thank you! x
I am loving your tutorials. I had a question, I have heard some art doll artists say the doll is "weighed down" to give a more realistic feel when held. I am wondering what they use to give the art doll the weight and how they apply it. Thanks!! :) Again you are awesome for doing these tutorials.
What batting do you use and where from if you don't mind me asking? 😊 the stuff I get I cant needle felt it into shape so I feel like I cant get a decent shaped body from my art dolls
I am allergic to something in clay idk what so could you suggest something that I could use in place of the clay for head and feet that is cheap or homemade? Or is the clay not needed?
Hi! Thank you for your beautiful videos so helpful! I am looking forward to finish my first art doll, just wondering if you have ever made a furry spider?
Can you use stuffing? Ive seen people use stuffing and wrap it with embroidery thread so it doesn't fall apart, but I want to know which material is better for an art doll!
I didn't know this method before I made my first art doll so I made a layer of aluminum foil and sculpted it the best i could and then wrapped it in masking tape to add another layer and secure it better. This method seems way easier though lol
I have just discovered your videos and have been watching them every spare moment I have. Your attitude and teaching style is amazing. On this tutorial where you are felting on a wire armature, is it difficult to not hit the wire with your needle? This has always intimidated me from felting on an armature.
Thankyou - and yes, it is, I have broken a few needles by striking the wire. I don't have any advice about that apart from to be careful and not hit too hard. Maybe someone who is more experienced with felting can help?

Ya great tutorial I really appreciate the idea of needle felting the polyester on the body.

Is there anything to substitute quit batting?
Do you have any alternatives to connecting the pass and head to the armature?
Why don't you make any more videos? I love seeing and learning from you.

What is the green material that help to hold the clay to the wires? I didn't catch it
It's two part apoxy putty, easy to find in either craft stores or department stores.
Can you do a video on how to mmake the head and maby different head types like wolf cat dragon ect. That would really help
What is your filling material
It's wadding/quilt batting, cut into strips.
Yes! Fur the face! I am very perplexed by the furry faces!
I dont have black clay or eyes
Go get some
OMG QUIT DOING THAT SOUND INBETWEEN EACH SENTENCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS ANOING
mynameis Mudd so youre saying she can't breathe?
