You're amazing, thank you so much for showing how to do this, some artists refuse to show how this is done and it makes it hard for starters like myself! subscribed because of your in depth helpful guidance and incredible talent. Thank you
You can paint a base color on the white clay so it's harder to see under the fur. What a beautiful art doll, thanks for showing this! It seems people can be particularly stingy and secretive with this part.
I do paint the clay under the fur sometimes, especially if there's going to be markings so it acts as a guide, yeah. Just didn't on this one since it was a solid colour and no real need. I really haven't seen a lot of information on flocking. I learnt from a tutorial that's no longer available and it was the only time I'd ever seen anything about it. Not sure why.
Lunawolf44 right? Some artists will straight up refuse to tell you and it makes no sense, it’s like they want people to assume they have magical furring powers lol
Brilliant! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. To see you working in real time and not sped up with loud thumping music like in other videos on youtube (no offence to the other youtubers, just personal preference) really helps. I haven't been able to find any other videos showing how to put fur on the face and have been really nervous about doing it. The way you have shown how to do this, so patiently and step buy step has given me the courage and inspiration to try this myself. Thank you!
I want to thank you for sharing your knowledge with others! There are a lot of people out there who prefer to keep techniques to themselves. It's kind of you to share what you know! :)
Thank you so much! You have no idea how long ive been looking for this! This is a huge help! I will definitely try it out! On my 1st try I glued down all the fluff instead of just the end bits. It looks ok but this method looks alot better. Im so greatful thank you!! :)
You can actually glue down pieces of fur - sometimes I'll do that for large areas. But flocking is definitely best for an even covering around tight areas like faces.
Amazing! Thank you for these tutorials. I live in the Peruvian Amazon and I am working on a very realistic sloth art doll and really needed to know what the best technique to put the face hair on might be. This is my first attempt at an art doll
Thank you for this amazing tutorial! I wanna start making art dolls but i couldn't find a tutorial that i undershod so thank you so much! also it looks so awesome!
Thank you so much! I'm here from creatures of Nat and I'm pleased to say I'm satisfied with your work! I've been planning to do a fox for ages and now I finally can! Wow!
This is so awesome. Thank you very much for this tutorial :) Does this technique work on smaller ones too? I would love to try it on my artdoll but I'm a bit afraid of messing it up.
Thank you! theres a youtuber i watch but her tutorials she always says "pay for my patreon to learn how to make the fur on the face" and i get annoyed cause im paying alot for my doll supplies already
Thank you sooo much!!! Please, what kind of glue are you using? I tried tacky glue and it took so long to dry that it really didn't work. I'm worried that elmers glue wouldn't be long lasting.
This looks really good so far! I would recommend getting an electric razor, it's super helpful for cutting fur and if you can take the guards off it makes it easy to get really tight trims.
I attempted to do this with a glue gun but the glue harden with in seconds and was just a mess! Thanks for the pva glue tip, I'll try to buy some. We don't have pva name here but we have craft glue that is for fur, wood plastic etc. So hopefully that works
Thank you so much for your videoes! I learned a lot from them :) I hope I'm not stepping out of line, but I feel like your videoes would be even better, if you speed up some parts of the process. Like when your pour out the paint or when you glue the fur onto it. Obviously not all of it, it is really nice that you explain how and why you do it, but there are long periods when you don't say anything and you do the exact same thing over and over again. I really like your videoes, but 20 mins is a looong video, and I doubt I'm the only one who doesn't have the patience (or the time) to watch the entire thing. (which is a shame!) However! I subscribed and I am looking forward to following your journey as an artist! :) I really love how realistic and cute your Vulpix is! :D Do you by any chance have a Facebook page?
DeeDee I don't mind at all! I am working on some time lapses, would definitely want to do some of the full flocking process. My computer is a touch old and loves to overheat and crash when I edit video, but I don't want to let that stop me. Glad you like!
Hey there, I've just done a timelapse of the entire flocking process. It's about 13 minutes long, I hope that is not too much. ruclips.net/video/1XJHyQt1_r8/видео.html At the moment I'm a little limited in what I can do as I'm editing video on a seven year old laptop that loves to overheat and crash, but I am hoping to get a new one by the end of the year and get some better work out there. I don't use Facebook for privacy reasons, sorry.

Thanks so much and sorry this is a late reply. It means a lot to me to know I'm helping someone out there, that's why I love sharing how i work.
Agreed! Many make you pay on Patreon for it.

Finally! I thought I’d never find an artist who would share this. Thank you so much. 🤗🤗
So making fur requires copious amounts of patience in every medium. Got it. Thanks for the tutorial!

I'm making a Phoenix, so the paw part isn't that important, but the face definitely is for any artdoll!
Thanks for sharing! He's adorable! One guestion. What type of glue do you like working with best?
This is the most helpful video! I am going to be using the same technique but with permanent fabric glue instead of washable pva glue
I couldn't understand what type of glue you used to glue the fur, could you tell me what it is ??
They said pva, don't know if there are different types though
Thank you so much for such a detailed tutorial, it's really appreciated.

I love you TwT Thank you so much

Do you think this process would work for a stop motion puppet?
Maybe, I'm not sure - can't hurt to give it a try, though.
Thanks for this video other are charging to see this
What creature is the art doll? Species or TV or book or movie inspired character?
Grace From Glaur It’s Vulpix from Pokémon.
