If it were me, real talk, I'd get the R1. We don't know how much longer it will be for sale in the US beyond 2025. The R9 looks nice on paper and cannot wait to pick mine up, but most dealerships are only getting 1 initially and have price increases on them. Hate when they do this. Anyway after more are available i suspect the pricing will come back down and be more palpable.
@mikasihite5346 I think that is what the OP was saying. Go for the more practical R9 or iconic R1. R9 was never intended to be a replacement for the R9 or R6. It simply slots in between the R7 and the R1 as there was a void in the line up.
@@aressimbamt0959 its max power is at 13500 rpm so I dont know what you are talking about. Also compared to a v4 it isnt as powerful anywhere. Sure its an under square engine. But it still pulls on the top end.
Great video, you always have useful info that is very accurate. I agree 100% about the practicality of superbikes on the street. I'm in my 60's, but other bike types just don't excite me as much. On an R1 I feel like I'm on a racebike. On a more upright bike I feel like I'm flying around on a very fast chair😅. It just doesn't do it as well for me. My love for the riding experience trumps the pain!
I love my 2019 Yamaha R1 but this maybe my last supersport motorcycle hence I’m getting older (39 years old) maybe when I’m 45 ish I’ll be getting a BMW GS1250 or something in the adventure bike that can do everything and feel more comfortable 💪🏼
You can always get risers. If it’s too much of a hassle for you to install, get a shop to do it. You can raise the clipons 1-3inches. Only limit is if the stock brake lines can extend that far and if the front fairing has enough clearance - both can still be adjusted and managed
Wimp..... I have ridden from 200 miles to a ferry port in the UK then when we arrived in France rode then 800 miles to Monza on my R1... Ridden from the UK to the Nurburgring in Germany a few times too on the R1. I rode from John O'Groats in Scotland to Lands End in England which is the the length of the whole country in 14 hours on a Ducati (OK I got paid by a Magazine to do it so I had to ride from the magazine HQ to John O'Groats then for following day to the end to end ride and ride back home on the 3rd day so I did trip effectively twice in 3 days.)
@@SignatureAuto_ I think the R9 would be a better upgrade for you coming from an R7, but if you feel you are ready for a liter bike... don't let anyone talk you out of it. Remember to respect the throttle. Easy to get in over your head as things happen ALOT quicker on any of the liter bikes. 😉
@@SignatureAuto_ if you’re use to the position then you’re fine. Like guy above said it’s throttle control, if you’re not mature enough to know when and where to use it, it’s gonna be dangerous. But R1 always a good choice. Yamaha make great bikes especially their naked imho.
How does the clutch lever feel to you? Specifically the friction zone. For me it's far easier to stall my R1 vs my 10R or my 6R. Pretty sure it's clutch adjustment? The initial bite it almost as soon as you start to release the clutch lever. Love the bike. (Mine is brand new, just got it. 2024)
I somehow don't understand that you with an experience, are assessing brakes which are not even seated correctly yet. In addition, you are in on Brembo marketing bandwagon. Very strange.
@@badgerman23 like Yamaha should ride the bike few tens of km's to let pads seat? Come on. Second its much more about feeling. That bike can brake exactly same as other, just its not biting. Which is much better for smooth fast ride....

Contemplating R9 or R1 as R9 more practical than R1 but R1 is just iconic.

The r9 nd r1 arent even in the same conversation
R9 comparison is an R6. R9 vs R1 is night and day.

R1 all the way 💪🏼
R1s are so cool. Cross plane crank and good looks. Also killer top end.
Top end is not r1 cp4 thing its low and midlle power
@@ChrisVanMiddelkoop the power on em is out of this world especially coming from OEM

Getting the exact same bike next week :D
the R1M is my dream bike , nice vid 🤙
Hey Greg!! Nice to see you doing these reviews...it's all about honesty and integrity and you just say it like it is. Nothing wrong with that.
Yeah the R1 brakes stock does feel spongy but once you change the brakes pads/fluids it’s night and day
When i was younger i always wanted an R1 because my R6 just didn't feel powerful enough.

Because a R1 is a race bike !
Background music, awesome Greg! 👍
Hello, is this bike still for sale? I went to Del Amo 's page but I could only find the 2025 models
I guess you’ll have to give Chris a call! 😎🏍️💨🇺🇸✌️

Cool music 🎶 😂
500k + subs you can definitely ask to be included in press days and get loaners. Well done.
38, 38, 39, 40 is not old, maybe wiser but definitely not old. I agree R1's are pretty.
Definitely love that CP4.
Is it a good upgrade to sell my r7 for this or not worth it

R1 is the only other Japanese bike I'd buy besides a fireblade sp.
Is this your new favorite sport bike??

Mine is same. I stalled it 4-5 times when i got it. Now its ok just need more gas and more clutch.

I'm not seeing that in their inventory
What a beauty.
I don't ride sportbikes for comfort. I ride them for thrill. Just buy a golf cart and review that.
About to be banned in Australia shortly. All the litre sportbikes are going on the hit list for importation bans.
I heard they will only stop selling them in Europe because of emission standards. Haven't heard anything about Australia.
Only took Yamaha 10 years to listen and finally put brembos on the 2025 model 😂😂
Isn't as bad as you thought? You got spoiled brah

The Yamaha brakes are trash out of the dealership. Many don’t have that and are incredible.
