I made something similar a while ago where the legs fold inwards to form an arca swiss plate when not in use. With my crappy surface finish it's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun
Every Chris Borge video is an instant click. I love you, man. Every project better than the last. I already know this one's going to wow me. Keep it up, don't stop posting, I'll watch every time.
im curious if mirrors would work. then you could get 1cm to 5mm off the ground or better. High speed cameras that track projectiles (like a shell fired out of a tank) are tracked using a quickly rotating mirror instead of yeeting the camera around which would probably damage the mirror who knows what a little creativity can bring
Not to bag on your great design, but I "hang" my camera from my tripod by inserting the mounting rod in upside down, and then using the tilt out screen. That way I can choose ANY angle I need, including having the camera basically on the ground, but angled upward toward my subject. Just a hot tip.
Chris you have a bright future ahead of you in engineering or product design/manufacturing, should you wish to pursue it. Full credit to you, your designs are fantastic
Nice project and efficient design - professional low profile camera mounts are called hi-hats. You might find some interesting examples/ design elements online.
Very very cool! I wonder if those front legs could be replaced with a lobe shaped cam of some kind to keep the legs entirely below the lens deck, not sure how much in the way they would be currently using manual lenses.
Nice work! Would love to see (instead of bolts) a rotating arm on either side with a friction clamp - works great on my bicycle seat and my tripod head!
You could get even lower if you attach from the top instead of the bottom. They make a 1/4" hot shoe adapter that you could use to grab it from the top. This will result in less straightforward center of gravity sceanrios but if you make it out of concrete it shouldn't be a problem.
That's an excellent design and I look forward to making myself one. A thought I have for a possible improvement is putting a level vial on the back so you can easily get it horizontal from side to side, since I find that difficult when I'm not looking through the viewfinder.
I'm doing industrial design at uni right now and this just seems like the entire design process: from sketches to design. Maybe showing your iterations would be nice in future
I poorly articulated it here, but the bolts are not threaded at all it was just a convenient source of rod, the knobs on the size allow for quick adjustment.
I've been developing a 3D printable camera mounting system. It's super modular and versatile and I think it even gets the camera closer to the ground if you want. Hit me up if you wanna try it :)
I love your videos they are so cinematic. I also want to start my own yt channel and you’ve been a big inspiration keep up the great work man!!!❤ what camera do you use btw?
That orange filament is getting iconic
Someone should give him a brand deal lol
Wish it wasn't Prusa tho
Y
It's almost... Borgeois..
borgey orange babyyyy

I totally agree. Just turned notifications on for the channel because I hadn't already for whatever reason.
Print your own bolts with a bigger thread pitch for quick adjustment.
Very cool, I’ve often run into the same issue and do the same annoying balancing on rocks. Love to see solutions to this.
Great work

Yet another cool 3D printed tool. We shared this video on our homemade tool forum last week 😎
Very tasteful background music👍
Amazing work! Thank you for your commitment to sharing your work!

Need some handles for those leveling bolts. e.g. Leichter grenatwerfer
no concrete -> unsub. I'm sorry thats the rules
Lol I got a good laugh out of that😂
👍👍👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ill try do better im sorry

very nice idea, likely nobody thought of solving your problem as you did :)
Very very cool! I wonder if those front legs could be replaced with a lobe shaped cam of some kind to keep the legs entirely below the lens deck, not sure how much in the way they would be currently using manual lenses.
One thing you could do if that's a problem is carry bolts of a few different lengths, and swap them out as needed.
Nice work! Would love to see (instead of bolts) a rotating arm on either side with a friction clamp - works great on my bicycle seat and my tripod head!
That is legit. Good job.

It might be worth to make a hollow place up front and place an led light there so in dificult lighting you still have a light source.
this is exactly why i need to get a 3D printer! great job👌🏻

Level is a good idea for sure

cool thingie.... another option you might explore is a sandbag.
very impressive, good job!
This looks super useful, I think I'll print one!
Back in the day, I used to carry a bean bag (probably polystyrene balls) - good for the camera and and sitting on (just).
What a coincidence! This time you appear in my search “3d printer camera gear” and it was just 7h agor, not in my feed first what happy coincidence
Such a good idea
That’s a pretty neat bit of kit, but it’s lacking that je ne sais quoi of concrete
20kg v2 for extra stability
Quick release for the bolts would make it faster to adjust
I poorly articulated it here, but the bolts are not threaded at all it was just a convenient source of rod, the knobs on the size allow for quick adjustment.
@@Borgedesignsoh, I see, thanks!
2:20 ITS A LITTLE GUY
this dude putting masterpiece on masterpice , we need to stop him !!!
You need to do a v2 with some concrete in it.

More video of the lizaed!! Oh cool thingy you made
I just use my tripod, but this is a cool solution as well!
You are a great inventor of our time.
Bro ur a genius 👏
Add a spirit level to it.
Epic invention + collab
Thankyou bananna beecher please dont expose me
Cool stuff. Also thanks for using (old) Minecraft music in every video, it’s nice.
Manfrotto MP3-BK Pocket tripod?
Hey thats what he looks like 👍
I think in the future, all vlogger cameras will have built-in mounts like this, and I’ll be able to say I saw it first on Chris Borge's channel 😎
It’s manfrotto pocket tripod, but cheaper )
Another banger from the Borge

This video was shot mostly (all the outdoors stuff) on my D3400, really great beginner DSLR. The studio stuff is on my more expensive Zcam e2c.
I live in Australia too what state do you live in?
There are rugged beanbags with tripod spuds, which are pretty similar and probably less fussy to adjust.
I'm not much of a photo/video taker, but this would take up so little space, and uses barely any resources, that I might have to give this one a crack
I think we should all reach out to a brand to ask for a custom orange for him.
Zigzag jumpscare
face reveal 🤫🧏♂️
No, that is geuguessr player zi8gzag. I definitely didn't expect that collab
Isn't this just a hi-hat?
Not quiet, Hi hats still need a ball head of some kind and cant actually get that low
:3
zi8gzag mentioned
uhhh this is denver
