- I was a commercial pilot in my younger days and in this video I tell a couple of old flying stories about emergency landings and Lucky Sand Dollars. I managed the airport in Childress Texas in the late 70's and operated a aircraft repair service, flight school and usually had an airplane or two for sale. I loved flying and flew anywhere between Oaxaca Mexico to Fairbanks Alaska all in search of making a living with my flying,
These are great stories! Keep your videos coming!!
Thanks Peggy, glad you enjoyed the stories and I am hoping to share some more soon.
Pretty neat stories!!
OH MY GOSH! What great stories! And now we know why Pearl drives the RV!!!
Darn It Tom, now our secret is out, although i'm guessing it isn't much of a secret on who is the better driver on the Next Exit Team. Look forward to seeing you two down in Yuma here in a couple of months
Love your flying stories Bob. Makes me miss flying. I still say you should write a book. 🚌😊✈️
Hi Charles, love telling and hearing old flying stories, I haven't been in a private aircraft since 1979 so my stories all seem to be different every time I tell one but at my age, I guess that is to be expected. We look forward to seeing you two in a week or two in Florence.
We love to see your videos.
This one was especially great since I'm a former AF Navigator and prior to that a private pilot in Cessna's and Pipers. We're glad that you are having fun with your family!
Looking forward to your next posting! ✈️ 👍
Hi John and thanks for your comment. I am a little concerned about some of the stories upsetting some of the more safety conscious aviators and I certainly don't want to do that. I was pretty young and full of testosterone back then and ocassionally made some bad decisions and do not want to encourage any pilots to do something that they may not have the skill set for as the results could be devastating. Many stories are more suited for sitting around the campfire vs RUclips (LOL).
Loved the stories!!!
More flying stories please!❤
Flying stories are the best. Please do more. In another life time freight pilot and skydiving instructor here.
Hi Rob, I am guessing we would have an enjoyable evening sitting around a campfire and sharing some old stories. I even have one story about a skydiving instructor rushing into my office wanting to get on the Unicom radio to confirm some kind of safety check on one of the skydivers that apparently did not get checked off. All ended well but he was fairly nervous until he got to talk to the folks up in the plane fixing to jump out.
Yup, would be fun. If you all ever get to Florida give a hollar. Usta fly freight outa Flint in a C310R and C404. Freight business fell off and became a tandem skydiving instructor. Retired after 10,000 jumps while all my parts still moved freely.@@JustPassingThru
Love the flying stories, Bob.
Thanks Laurie, Hope you and Jeff got a good site there in Chehalis, we will see you in a couple of days at Whalers Rest. Look forward to playing some more Mexican Train with you two
A really good one today Bob. I for one would appreciate hearing more of your diverse airplane life experiences. Dangerous, maybe too exciting at times but you were either good or lucky. LOL. You had lots of knowledge in your profession and you were obviously good at. Thanks Much!
I love those stories. We missed Oregon this, but have had a great time back east. We will be back up there next year. Hope to see you in Arizona.
Howdy Ted & Nancy, we were hoping to find you up here in PNW but I remember you said you were going to be a little more east this year. We will defiantly plan to hook up back in Yuma.
Love the stories, Bob. Quite the adventures. Good seeing you are doing well. Rosie and I are going to boondock out by the proving grounds this winter. You and Pearl will have to visit us and tour our new Brinkley. We have done several nice modifications I think you'll like. This is Burlington Bill busking on the road and here on you Tube.
Hi Bill and Rosie, im sure you're both loving the new 5th wheel, with a little luck we might be able to run into you out around Imperial Dam this winter.
Please tell us more flying stories
Hey Bob and Pearl, we sure missed the coast this year. Looks like it's going well up there seeing family and friends, again another great video, when will you be back in Yuma? Hope to see you guys there!
Hi Craig, we will probably hit Yuma in late November sometime. We leave Seaside Tuesday headed for 3 weeks in Whalers Rest on Tuesday. I forgot their names again but one of the 2 couples you brought to breakfast with us in Florence last year (with the Hawaiian wife) has a seasonal site here and we have got to visit with them a couple of times this trip. Great people.
@@JustPassingThru yes Brandon and June, great people,we have another couple that got a site there as well, Jerry and Sylvia, we will be in Yuma in two weeks for only two weeks then in January for a few months, so I’m thinking spaghetti dinner 🥘 while we’re there!😃
Very much like the stories. Please share more.
I loved hearing your airplane stories! Now I know where you get the mechanical skills to repair your RV!
Hi Patty, yes lots of similarly issues with maintaining a small private aircraft and a RV but it seems the RV breaks down more. Glad you enjoyed the video
Keep the stories coming. Enjoyed them lots.
Thanks Tom, we appreciate your comment
Flying stories!! So interesting!
Bob, I know the area well. Learned to fly in Wichita Falls at Kickapoo airport, and flew for 38 years for a living, I knew Bill Cook and his brother well. We still pass through Childress on hwy 287 going to different parts of the country. Keep the stories coming.
I'm a pilot .... Like more flying adventures. Thanks, Bob
Good to see things are going well.
Hi Bob and Pearl. Bob, I think you had a more interesting life then I did. LOL I only raced motocross. Yes, I like the stories. Safe travels.
Hi Don, I have heard you tell some good stories from your motorcycle racing days and look forward to sitting around the campfire with you again one day and hearing more.
@@JustPassingThru Hi Bob, I am looking forward to it.
Looks like great family fun-always great to see friends again-say hello to Jeff,Laurie,Charles and Abby and Pearl and Tink 😊
Hi Tammy, it will almost belike our first rally when we get to Whalers Rest in Florence Oregon. All we need is You & Scott, Terry & Cindy and Pat & Chris. Hope you two had a great summer travel season
Great stories !
Love the flying stories Bob! Remember the story of you landing on the freeway and also the story of your obe-way trip to MEXICO!!!
Hi Jim, glad you enjoyed the flying stories, im guessing you have some good ones from the Railroad up in Canada, hope to hear more of those next time we meet up.
Great stories! I flew some but decided that it was way too expensive as I was still a college student. Never picked it up again.
Amazing stories! I had no idea you were a pilot!!!
Great stories Bob, don't stay up there to long or we'll be hearing stories about getting south lol
Hi Dave, we might be a little late in arriving back in Arizona but the plan is to get out of Oregon in Late October or early November and arrive in Yuma in November once the temps get down to the low 80s or hi 70s. Enjoy your Balloon Fest and hope to see you down south in a month or two.
Hey Bob, Safe travels, watch that weather and see you guys then!@@JustPassingThru
Bob, I really enjoyed the flying stories and the history of your flying service. I would like to hear more, when you are able to share them. Hope you haven't had any more overheating problems with your coach. Safe travels to you and Pearl.
Hi Keith, glad you enjoyed the stories and luckily we have not had any issues with our overheating so far this year. We haven't traveled on any hot days but we have climbed a few mountains and no issues so far. That is a big relief to not have to worry about overheating in the coach. Thanks for asking
Ok Bob! I watched this twice but am still missing the reason Pearl drives! (“Hat Girl” here)
Hi Bob - we enjoyed hearing about your flying experiences. We had no clue. You are a man of many talents! We are in Albuquerque for the Balloon Fiesta. We will be here until next Saturday, October 14th. We will then head out to Palm Desert for a few weeks. We will be in Yuma after, if you’re back home we would love to hear about your travels since we saw you and Pearl this summer.
Safe travels - tell Pearl hi! 😊❤
Hi Janice, we’re back at Seaside for a couple more weeks but plan to be back in Yuma by late November or early December. We are looking forward to catching up with you and Larry in the not too distant future
When I was becoming a pilot my flight instructor told me that flying is great and all, but it’s the people you’ll meet that makes it so great. He also told me if you’re lucky enough to fly, you’re lucky enough. He was right on both counts. Thanks for the video.
Do you two ever stay at our P.C. park just south of Tillamook?? We love that park. Next time your in Seaside check out the elephant ear guy he has the best Elephant ears I've ever had. If you ever get through McMinnville, they have a awesome air museum Evergreen Aviation.
Howdy..! My wife and I are staying in AZ this winter.. We’re planning on going to Quartzsite for a few weeks.. Are y’all planning to come to Quartzsite..?
We will probably boondock a few days around Quartzsite in January but not sure where. One thing for sure, there is always plenty of room to find a good site in desert around Quartzsite.
What became of the little wifey??
Duchess and Pearl are good friends and she and her husband are retired and traveling around the country on Motorcycles and ocassionally living a little Vanlife and visiting the kids and grandkids.
