I really love that Samsung went with the symmetrical square edges. Every foldable up to this point looked asymmetrical because of the hinge side always being squared off while the other side was curved. That alone makes me lean towards the Fold. That said, I'm still gonna wait another year for the Fold 7, they need to fix that crease and put in a bigger battery, hope they keep the design and the matte finish.
Samsung is on purpose keeping the bigger battery for the upcoming Fold Ultra. They do the same trick with their candybar phones and their watches. The so-called standard "flagship" has a battery that can last you a day but then there are plenty of days where you will face some anxiety as you're out and about at 11PM and really you hit 20%. So Samsung also offers the S24 Ultra and now the Galaxy Watch Ultra as well. The downside being about a 350 to 400 dollar mark-up.
You might be waiting for a while, I kept saying the same thing for 4, 5 and now 6.... I gave up waiting for them to get their act together. Sold my 3 and bought an open
Samsung lost a long time customer when they released the same cameras for the third year in a row. I have zero regrets getting the Open. Cheaper, bigger, thinner, lighter, longer lasting, faster charging, etc.
Ok fair enough, however: - Samsung's software has had multiple generations to grow. This includes the fact that you can have a separate setup in the cover screen than the inner screen, you have a fully customizable sidebar and a bottom drawer, can fit more apps in a single row, Good Lock massively improves all the features including notifications and the AOD, you got Routines and just a massive amount of customization. - Speaking of software, it wasn't mentioned how RUclips cannot be a floating window on top of split screen apps, whereas it works on Samsung. While the Open Canvas is indeed a cool design, the Fold can stack multiple apps on the same screen and each one can turn in a full screen version or be a floating window. As a disclaimer, I am currently a Fold 2 user and I actually would prefer to buy the Open, rather than the Fold 6. My Fold 2 had its battery inflated, the inner screen has cracks on the folding part and the hinge does not allow the phone to open fully, it stops me a bit before it becomes flat. That being said, Samsung phones are always the safest option to go for. They're easier to repair cause I can just take it to a Samsung store and they'll simply order the part, they get probably the most peripherals out of any android phone, they get many updates and the Fold has been through so many iterations that the small incremental updates have started to add up.
@@carver9312 I also did and I just sent the fold 6 back . Front screen is still unusable , short battery life ,slow charging ,worse cameras .what are you high on ?
I don't understand how everyone complains that the Fold pen doesn't work on the small screen when no other foldable even has any pen support at all. I didn't even get a foldable until the Fold 3 when Samsung introduced pen support. Now I have the Fold 6 and love it.
I had an open and it was a nice device. The outer screen is still much better than the fold 6 and the cameras are better especially the zoom. I did not like the huge camera on the back and found it really ruined the in hand feel and not being able to have different home screens on the outer and inner screens drove me crazy. Also had some 5g connectivity issues with it so got rid of it.

i would love the one plus but they ruined it for me personally with the camera whole in the corner like that. wish it was under the display like the sammy

one plus open stylus support on both inner and outer screen, wider front display, ir blaster, open canvas seems better as well, better camera. Samsung just lucky one plus open 2 not coming out yet
Samsung is the new Apple. All marketing. All Hype. Tricking users that they are buying the latest and greatest when they clearly are not. They make small updates and call it a new version. This is what happens where there are no competition. If One Plus advertises in the US, they would dominate the phone market. But they are still a relatively unknown.
I have an S24 Ultra, but it's sitting in a drawer collecting dust. So using the Open as my daily. Samsung actually REMOVED being able to manually customize the AOD brightness like was available on previous versions. There are literally hundreds, if not, thousands of posts about it on Reddit, and their own forums, about not being able to adjust AOD brightness. It's too damn dim (they have it on auto-brightness). I use AOD notifications on the screen instead of annoying sounds. Plus, slab phones are just boring. I will not buy Samsung again anytime soon. Sticking with my Open until OnePlus comes out with the Open 2. Not interested in Google's phones so long as they keep using their in-house SoC that never seem to be on par with Snapdragon.
The both are the best Folds for the clientele each one is targeting. The external screen of the Fold 6 is wider than that of the iPhones Mini, and narrower than that of the iPhone 11 Pro by 3mm, and for some people, is actually perfect (not for me), except that, the internal screen of a Fold is not 100% safe and you are not immune to unpleasant surprises. The advantage of Folds like the OnePlus Open, Xiaomi Mix Fold 4, Honor Magic V3, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, is that in case of accidents with the internal screen, you have a completely and normally usable smartphone. For me, the perfect Galaxy Fold would be a Fold with the form factor of the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, with 2cm more in height (to have a rectangular internal screen and not a square one), with 5000-5500mAh battery 🔋capacity and better camera sensor. For the moment, my Galaxy S Ultra + Tab S standard combo is perfect for me. 🙏🏽
