I’m in the middle of my 1K emergency fund. Right here is where I started. I did just like you said. Download all that stuff. There’s a lot of important information. Whether you know all the fancy terminology or not as long as you understand the process you’re IN! I had to watch and read everything a couple of times to wrap my head completely around it. I used envelopes just for saving since I was younger, my mother taught me. I am SO EXTREMELY HAPPY that I found your channel. RIGHT HERE is where I transformed my world. The progress I’ve seen is incredible. It’s also helping me save faster to purchase our forever home ( we’re in our mid 50’s). ANYONE can do this. Money is money no matter the denomination. Just remember that everyone’s circumstances are different so don’t compare yourself to anyone else, you’ll only discourage yourself out of financial freedom. Good luck everyone, this is a wonderful community filled with encouragement. Tfs. Have a wonderful afternoon.🤗

Less than a year ago, my hubby and I were in line at the Costco returns booth returning a pack of aluminum foil and Starbucks K-pods. It may not have been a huge to deal to anyone else around us but on the inside I felt so humiliated that we had to return such household staples because we couldn't afford it. We only had $400 in our emergency fund at the time. Fast forward to today, with the help of meticulous expense tracking and saving, our emergency fund has grown to $4,000 which we have compounding in a HYSA, with 0 credit card debt.
It's amazing how much time and consistency can change one's life. If you're reading this, please keep having hope and remember that small changes will eventually lead to astounding results

I started budgeting the end of March and worked hard and made it $500 in my emergency fund and making slow progress on bills then this month life happened and I had to draw my emergency fund out and I’m trying really hard to work it out with my budget so I don’t have to use my credit cards again. Next paycheck I start over again. In the past I would have said I give up and ended up in deeper debt. This time I’ve had a taste of what budgeting can do so I’m not giving up. Thank you Jenn, unfortunately I'm the first person in my family to really care about how to use their money functionally not just live paycheck to paycheck. Its a struggle to even get my family to understand that the money I have saved isn't meant to be used until my goals are reached and when they need something they come begging me for help instead of taking responsibility for themselves. Also unfortunately i was blessed with a heart and it's been my biggest set back in my journey to being debt free.

How awful for you! I’ve learned to keep my financial wins and goals to myself. If anyone says anything to me, I just tell them that since my husband just retired, we are on a fixed income and I can’t afford it. 🤐 Even though, we are actually way better off then we’ve ever been!
Only my husband knows exactly how much money we have and I guarantee he doesn’t even remember! 😂

I had a similar situation. I offered to help them get started with their own cash freedom journey. If they turned me down, then I simply explained that I was sorry what they really wanted was not my help, only my money; and I'm already using it.
I have one family member that is working on his own journey now, and even a coworker. They both tell me thanks for the info on cash stuffing, but I tell them having them call to ask for advice instead of money is all the thanks I need.

    • @lisadearing5960

@@amandahaggan7062 that’s awesome! Some people just want others to bail them out so they don’t have to do the work themselves. Of course, some people just don’t know where to start.
My best friend is on the verge of asking me to help her to start budgeting. She’s just not ready to face her total expenses yet! She wants to get her finances under control before she retires in 6 years. She’s never asked me for money but things were really tight for her recently so I gave her a $50.00 VISA gift card that I wasn’t using. I know she’s embarrassed for me to see her expenses. I just want to help get her on track. I would never judge her and I’ve told her that.

I love the advice that the two who commented have given you. I have actually been watching a lot of videos on “The importance of looking poor”. I know that sounds crazy but search that term on YT and watch some of the videos.
Jason and I have recently taken a significant pay cut and it’s been hard for us to say no to the kids and/or tell them they have to pay us back for things but it’s a boundary.
I would also recommend that you read the book, Set Boundaries, Find Peace.
This book was a HUGE eye opener for me. It made me realize the tactics that others had been using on me and how to combat it. It’s a game changer.
I hope you can find some strength and some ways to just say no - for yourself and for your future self. You are important! 💛💛💛

I've been cash stuffing for a little over 2 months. I have my 1,000 emergency fund already and I'm working on 3 months living expenses and several savings challenges.
I use cash wherever I can and it's made me realize that I wasn't paying attention to the cost of things when I was using my debit card. Parting with cash is very difficult compared to swiping or tapping that card!!! It's a sobering experience!!!

I tried to do it on Excel and I was just having a hard time to Mapping & Charting down the in & out cash flow. Maybe I wasn’t doing it right but I was onto something! I just needed guidance. I went on youtube to find a system that would work for me & I like how detailed this is because I am very detailed & organized. I like that this is in writing tho as opposed to typing it out & formulating on Excel. Just feels simple & easier to track down even tho it seems like a process. But ya gotta fall in love with the process or so they say! Thank you so much 💜

I love how kind you are in your videos, it reminds me to be kind to myself too. My realization was that my savings were stagnant for about a year. I also watched a ton of videos about overconsumption and emotional spending and realized that's what I was doing and I really want to improve. I don't do cash stuffing but I am tracking all my expenses in a notebook since it works better for me than just using a budget app, which was too passive for me.

This was so helpful! I’ve been kind of half heartedly budgeting with an app, but I wanted a much more hands on approach, so I really like your way of doing things! I’m going to give it a try. I do have my emergency fund saved up, now I need to work on paying down that dreaded credit card debt. Ugh. Thank you for the cute resources!

Hi Jenn! Thank you so much for these informative videos. I know I need them. I have saved my 1st round $1K emergency fund and starting my 2nd round. I have also started saving for my 3 months ahead. I still have some consumer debt to pay off, but these videos help me to keep going. I truly appreciate the free-bees (so cute & clever by the way), I am definitely going to start writing everything down. Currently I use a notebook, but these free-bees are so much better!! I also took your advice and I'm going to start detashing some stuff very soon. I am disabled and get paid monthly so any little bit helps. I have so many Binders that are brand new and a few packs of envelopes to go with them, plus lots of planner stuff and misc things as well. I'm so Excited for this journey and hubby is definitely on board to help me clean things out and add to our emergency fund, my consumer debt and 3 months ahead fund. It's truly all because of You and your sister April, that I am able to save and have fun doing it responsibly 💜💜!! Thank you both for all you help the Hive with, it means so much to myself and all of us!!! Big thank you Jenn & April for all you both do!!! ❤❤
P.S. Looking forward to Sunday Save Day playing HH tomorrow!! 🍯🐝💛

Do you have curly hair? Just asking that one because mine went curly after menopause and it is EXPENSIVE to maintain. I understand that number, 😝

I'm still trying to save for my emergency fund. I've been using my Hello Honey money and No Spend Challenge to save for it. I have almost $400 saved. I'm also trying to pay off my debt. I'm getting married in September and I'm trying to pay as I go because I had nothing saved for it. Trying really hard not to use my credit card for it. I'm hoping next year I'll be able to knock out the debt and save a few thousand in my emergency fund. 🤞🏻

We can all be debt free. I truly believe that.
I think, for me, I really believe it because I was forced to live debt free for most of my adult life. After my first divorce, my credit was ruined. I couldn’t get a $100 loan to save my life. 😂
I did fix my credit after about 10 years of bad credit because I wanted to buy a home. I succeeded in that and bought a home after a year of fixing my credit.
The problem came when Jason and I had a bad case of lifestyle inflation.
Credit can be used responsibly- paying off balances before interest accrues. I just think that for most people, this is not as easy as it sounds- including me. Sometimes when we have it, we still don’t want to pay the full balance. I’ve been guilty of this so many times.
All this to say- debt free is the way to go. It’s stress free and saves a TON of money in the long run. 💛
