    LC1 allowed a launch of 4500 rpms with a harsh clutch drop. Not 4100.

      Sam corrected his written facebook post with the on-camera interview, saying it dumped the clutch at 4,500 rpm's. Thanks for clarifying though !!

    2017 gtr owner. about 45000km. never launched. transmission error(p0777) in december. took it to dealer and was told replacement is only option. cost of work $48000cdn. well maintained, regularly serviced and not driven often(apologies to the car gods)

      That sucks so hard. Take it to Jacks or Shep Transmission. Get it rebuilt. Better than OEM>

      I’m really curious as to how this situation resolved, that looks like a stuck solenoid code wise. Shouldn’t be a terribly expensive fix, although the dealers are notorious for not fixing and only replacing gearboxes.

    • @davidwong2
      @davidwong2 2 месяца назад +1

      @@HateAndFlame it is exactly as you said. basically it was a faulty solenoid that needs to be replaced. dealers wont tear apart the transmission to fix/replace the part(s) which would cost maybe 1500 for parts and labor to do. i asked at transmission repair shops in my city and none had experience working on gtr transmission. though they were willing to try, they werent willing to make any guarantees. in the end, i swallowed the cost and had a full transmission replacement done.

    Is there a way to reset the transmission fault code?

    • @The.Garage.Studio
      @The.Garage.Studio  Месяц назад +1

      Any scan tool will allow you to reset it or just unplug the battery.

      I have a new video coming out with Jack McGee from Jacks Transmissions. Excessive use of Launch Control is terrible for the GR6's longevity. Glad i've never used it !! My Transmission is still running strong with over 120K miles !! It's plenty fast enough. The new video with Jack's interview is going to be awesome !! He busted a lot more myth's !!

    What shop you goto in Las Vegas for your Maintenance thanks

      Yeah, I haven't found a really great shop. I was going to Paladin. They know GT-R's pretty well, but had a timing chain issue.. and they couldn't properly replace it after like 3 tries.. so not sure i'm gong back there. The Centenial Nissan Dealer has a really good tech "Mike" that I trust. But it's pricey to go there. Also heard the Nissan dealer on West Sahara has a good tech, and the rep is a nice guy and doesn't mind mods.. so may try that shop out. But it's limited.

    Sir will a person earning 250k a year or 15k a month able to maintain a GT-R?
    Riding 2k miles a month

    • @The.Garage.Studio
      @The.Garage.Studio  Год назад +2

      GT-R "really" doesn't cost that much more to maintain than your average sports car. The oil changes cost a little more, but you can do it yourself for cheap. The transmission/differential need to be replaced every 36K, and that is a little costly. The only really costly item thus far was the differential that went out at around 75K mileage, and the timing chain at 110K mileage.

    Get any mechanical parts hot enough and things break. It’s the software that caused the early failures.
    Now make a video about the bellhousing rattle lol.

      Yep.. that's coming !! I'm pretty lucky.. I've got a 2012 with 120K miles... and still no rattle.. Gotta be a first for sure.
