Why do you defend jeeps behavior. You are paying a premium for jeep and they are selling crap that falls apart breaks or leaks right of the dealers lot.?

This isn't about my JK, but in 1986 I bought a new IROC Z28 & with in 6 months the clear coat was peeling off 7 panels & I had to go thru hell to get the whole car repainted, they just wanted to repaint the 7 that were peeling & there was only 10 panels total, got my way, but have never owned a Chevy since.

JL is a joke. Paint/corrosion issues,faulty chassis welds, common to have infotainment problems/freezing. FAD looks like it would weaken front axle housing. TJ is terrible on gas my 04 rubi 5spd gets 12.9mpg, bad for rusting out if exposed to salt. JK has some electrical issues like the JL, both of them have the 3.6 rocker arms that wear out and destroy cams to best of my knowledge. I have had 2 TJ's and they are great but they are getting old, if you are looking at one with any rust, especially in a salted roads in winter state, I would pass. The TJ frames rot out from the inside, and same with body. Have seen multiple rotted out TJ frames and tubs, 0 JK's, and the JK is way more common in my region. I think the JK is best value for most people. I would love a 2.0 turbo engine, 8speed auto or 6spd manual, tj body, on jk frame suspension and axles!

Thank you for this great video. I'm the original owner of a 2020 Sport S Gladiator, which was registered 8/24/2019. I'm in VT. It didn't get driven much on winter roads because of lockdowns/ work from home/ family caregiving and then some health issues. It did get carefully lanolin (fluid film) undercoated in 2019 before its first exposure to road salt. But it has lived its whole life outdoors. I haven't noticed corrosion yet but life's been kinda nutty and I will examine it carefully during the next week or so. If I'm lucky enough to NOT have corrosion at/around the hinges yet, is there a "prophylactic" measure that I could do like trying to "wick" FluidFilm (lanolin in mild light petroleum spirits) in/around the hinge perimeters and hope that the lanolin creeps into any open space and repels water from seeping into any open space? I'd rather have smudgy-looking hinges than corroded hinges and I'm right about to go off the 5 year cliff in barely a month. Thank you again and I'm going to try to look for the Facebook group, though I have, before now, totally avoided Facebook groups. Thank you so much for sharing the alert and info on this!

The TJ isn't great for an only vehicle, it's more of an RV imo. I've own mine (97) 26 years and it's still going strong. I have more comfortable SUV's (Subaru / Nissan ) but my 97 Sahara and 2005 LJ Rubicon are just plan and simple open air fun.

I have the Skytop and it is great. Only drawback is it is louder when highway driving.

Thanks for the video. Unfortunately I bought the alien for my 2024 before it was a known issue. They refunded me no problem though. I’m wondering if the 2 piece spiderweb would solve some of the flapping issues, particularly over the sound bar.

I have a 2024 Bikini Blue Rubicon X. I bought the Mopar sunbonnet and it does not fit the 2024. The holes have been relocated from 23 to 24. Why? Because JEEP. Just Empty Every Pocket. 😂 So far, zero sun shades on market work with the 24 and up Wranglers. My dealership told me it would fit, the wording on Mopar site suggests it works too. Nope, not happening. I couldn’t get it on, then two deal mechanics tried, and the dealer principal (Owner of dealership) and yeah, no fits.

I don't know. From the start it was JL...JL....JL. Not really a comparison, but more of a "look at this JL." My JKU is awesome driver both highway and city and isnt a brick. And the benefits you are saying are automatic jeeps and not manual jeeps. Nice selling the JL video, but not a comparison video.

It's caused by the steel hinges reacting with bare aluminum - a catalytic reaction. All the brands are affected by this to some degree or another.

How many miles do you have now? Any problem so far with engine or transmission? I own a 2020 but i upgraded the engine turbos intercooler etc i have about 900hp, i dont hammer it all the time but so far its great no problem at all

My 2020 rubicon is in process now. They are replacing the hood and doors completely and repainting the tailgate. They said jeep fixed the hinge issue in 24 but didn't say anything about the door and hood. It's garage kept, washed all the time and has 34000 miles. I asked about trading up and they want 33000. My 3rd and last jeep.

Talk about how JL wrangler bumpers are made with a soybean-based product and are being chewed/eaten by Squirrels!

Do you happen to know a good car wash service here where they wash cars by hand without those pressure washers? P.S. loooove all your videos, binged in two days :D My lovely 2003 Acura CL Type-S is dying, well not the car - this thing is immortal, but the transmission, which is the same price as the car >_< Couples days ago, got stuck in the middle of the desert on the way to LA and understood, that this car is not reliable anymore for long drives, especially in the heat. And so I am getting ready to finally allow myself my dream car - Wrangler! I am considering leasing for a couple of reasons - since I had only one and very old car - I really want to experience all those luxury add-ons that Jeep offers, plus a brand-new car feel :) Leasing is cheaper, and all the repairs will be covered by it, which is good while I am getting to know a completely new car!

What if you don't have any corrosion at this time but will have it at some point in the future due to this issue? Is Jeep covering preventive corrosion issues?

blame it on your fine government. they are forcing automakers to meet a MPG rating. Jeeps are heavy because of the full axles front and rear, so they had to put an aluminum body and doors to keep the weight down but keep steel hinges which cause Galvanic Corrosion from Dissimilar Metals (steel/aluminum) contacting each other. I have a 2018 JLUR and live in a wet climate but I haven't had a problem with mine.

Good information. I knew about this before watching your video but since I live in the Arizona desert I didn't think much of it. I have a roof rack on the Wrangler so I don't take it to a car wash. I wash it by hand. So, maybe it will be a non issue for me but now I know about running my finger along the panels by the hinge so thanks.

Thank you for this information. Every time I hear about this issue, I wonder what kind of company this is. I own a Jeep, but this issue makes me nervous. Even if it's covered under warranty, it's a waste of time. They knew about the issue but made zero effort to remediate it. Coverage under warranty is not enough; it should be covered for at least 10 years, if not more.

My hinges started corroding on my 2014 JKUR. I pulled them apart, cleaned them up and masked and primed the unpainted door panels. I primed and repainted the hinges with flat black epoxy paint, added a gasket layer and sealed with clear silicone. 5 years later they still look great.

Let's admit it the factory knew about all these problems with the Jeeps by not preparing these surfaces properly to begin with Cause and all of these corrosion issues !! Which is unacceptable from the factory of them being cheaply built !!! Even a good body shop can tell you about these problems !! Its a GALVANIC CORROSION problem with the mating of dissimilar metals. If you electrically isolate the alum from the carbon steel, the corrosion stops; a nonmetallic gasket between the hinge and the door and nonmetallic bolts or some way to isolate the bolt holes (electrically).

That is not corrosion, that is a smart product, green recycling composition "save the earth" activated design.
