Great video showing clearly the steps. Love seeing you getting in there and fixing something on such an expensive car. I'm sure there's people out there thinking like what are these guys doing or just going bonkers because it's an expensive car to be working on it yourself. At the same time one shouldn't be too intimidated as long as you have the proper tools and instructions to do it.
Totally agree. I don't know why people make this car out to be that way, so I've documented along the way to help decrease the fear. At the end of the day, it's just mechanical parts moving like every other car....just more technically advanced 🤓

@@GTContentAt 3:36. No, sorry, the paperclip when you had the valvebody on the table. When you were dangling the clip and it would stick to the housing. What was the point of that? Is that doing some internally?
@@Mikey6048 I used the paperclip to find the location of the magnet in the side of the actuator so that I can align it. The GTR shifting issue is caused by the actuator getting out of alignment.

Herakles quite far from a nightmare. These cars are amazing hand-built machines and the quality is unmatched by many other manufactures. They’ve worked a lot of little quirks out over the years.

Yeah, mine got it at 48k luckily I bought a drive train warranty when i bought the car so I don't have to mess with it. Its currently at the shop and so far the bill is $24,000.
hey sir , just wanted to ask is it normal to downshift and tapped the rev limiter basically downshift during high rpm and tapped the rev limiter , i have asked a few of gtr owners they said that they have tapped the rev limiter a couple of times on the track but i would like to personally ask you since you know more about these stuff ... thank you

@@VILLAINSSQUAD im always downshifting above 6k rpm, and not having any problem after that... my gtr is 2012 model... the main purpose for downshifting is to gain engine braking and stopping,.. i dont think the ecu transmission can let you downshift to more than the rpm limit because i have try do it one try to tap the downshift paddle while im in 3rd gear and at 6.5k rpm and it do not engage the downshift until im reach 4k rpm...
What would You suggest for a 2014 GTR having the same issues. Wont shift into odd gears tm light came on then went off check engine light stayed. Now tm on all the time. No recall is this still a tsb clip issue

Hello! I have a 2015 Nissan GTR and I can hear my gears switching and hear a little grinding noise when I let off the gas in first gear. Also I can hear my bellhousing knock! Would you recommend doing this on my 2015? Thank you, Erik
Nissan does some dumb stuff like having all those electrical connections and solenoids swimming in fluid. They also had the tcu in the transmission fluid pan in a couple of g35s and 350z.
My 2010 GTR's transmission "failed" in this manner. Only shifting in odd gears (skipping gears) I Actually just paid 12k to fix it. I wished I would have seen this video sooner.
great video, but if u have opened the trans, u should clean the pistons, the metal on the magnets can destroy the pistons, because they got scratched and leak... where u get the nissan service bulletin? here in austria u got NOTHING from Nissan..... i have done this year also a maintenance on my gr6 with install clips, cleaning, add additional Magnets, replacing the Linefilter und fill Motul DCTF (like u do on yours) :)
The service bulletin states not to clean any metal shavings/debris. The stuff we found on the pistons looked and felt like grease with very little shavings. Of course, we cleaned them with a soft towel anyways. lol The bulletin can be found online. I'm not sure if it's specific to the USA only.
That's why all my cars are manual with an actual clutch pedal. So much more satisfying to drive, but most guys don't know how to drive a manual equipped car properly.
If you plan to not go above 800TQ, then it's fine. I believe Jack's uses Albins gears which are quieter. Shep uses Dodson which are slightly noiser, but stronger. Just words from others as I have no personal experience.
I’m literally looking at a 2016 GTR that has two owners with 20k miles and this makes me not want to buy this car and wait for the 400Z NISMO!! What are your thoughts and yes I know they aren’t the same but I can definitely dump some money into the 400z aftermarket wise before I could the GTR?!?! This way I can get it close to a monster RwD TT 6sp MaN 🏎🏎🏎!!
IMO if you're just looking for performance and best bang for buck then you should definitely hold off for the 400z. Cost wise, it would just make more sense. At the end of the day it depends on what you're looking for. You have to be really passionate about the GT-R to put up with the maintenance throughout its ownership. It's reliable when taken care of but isn't bulletproof. Like every car, things happen when they're DRIVEN and if you don't absolutely love the platform then it may not be worth it to you. Hypothetical flipside, one could dump 30k into 400z and build something crazy but still not be satisfied because... well.. it isn't a GT-R. It all comes down to what you want.
True that’s what I was thinking as well. I like the GTR but after doing more research I think it’s in my best interest to move forward with the 400z. I was gona ask about newer models seems this and thw bell houseimg was looked at and improved sofar the newer grt models seem to be slightly better am looking at the chnace of geting a 21 gtr :) so these videos do help alot
Love your videos. You make me feel more confident in owning a GTR (which I am now picking up in a few days). QQ- would it be okay to do the clips on a 2010 with no current shifting issues? Ie, do not have to take anything apart but just shove some clips in there? The GTR I am picking up just had a ShepTrans rebuild stage 1 on it so no idea if it even will have the same problem. if it has a sheps tran in it, it will come with these already, if it's the stock trans doing this will negate any future issues and is a good thing to do even with no current issues.

I believe the 4th one wan't necessary because it wasn't an issue.

I don't fully understand what you are doing with the paperclip and magnets on the accuators.
The paperclips will prevent the actuators from rotating.

I have a cousin in Hong Kong that went from a Mercedes C300 to a Honda S2k in 2013 then he just got a 2017 R35 GTR very recently. He is only 28

How do i clear tcm code PO729? Long story short had same problem your buddy had. Fixed myself. I just don't know how to clear that code
I believe you can clear codes with a Cobb tuner.

You should be fine as long as you don't notice any unfamiliar noises or weird shift issues.

@@princenero1212 I can't say exactly, but you're symptoms are similar to the GTR owner whom I helped fix his transmission shift issue.

The transmissions were updated for 2012 and newer.
The TSB clip issue is a hit or miss just like the bellhousing.

TE37’s don’t suit the R35 imo, they look perfect on all Skyline GTR’s but not the 35. So many better looking 20” wheels out there for it.
