    solid video, great job. One note is that I usually take the oil filler cap off before loosening the drain plug on the theory that the oil will flow better. Also, oil changes are easier if the car is warmed up.

    To be fair as a GTR owner, I love the easy access filter and plug, honestly the most annoying part of the oil change is the makeshift ramp part. Its good to see other owners utalizing the good ole wood block/planks that I do.

    Thank you for providing the torque spec on the drain bolt with crush washer. A dealer overtightened ours on a 2017 GT-R and we had a bad leak so doing this job ourselves now.

    Actually, you have the copper crush washer upside down. In the service manual on the page you showed in the video with the torque spec for the drain bolt, in the upper left there is a diagram showing the correct orientation of the crush washer (this part was cut off and not displayed on the screen).

    So I cut an open on the undertray for the easy access and use body clips to keep the piece in place. And for the oil filter, the filter itself has an instruction if no torque measurement is available, usually it's something like 3/4-1 turn after the rubber touches the seat.

    On 09 / 10 - you have to remove entire front lip :) because 4 bolts are under the tray. Next Time I'm going to modify it so I Dont have to remove it all. :) easy peasy

    I be wasting alot to change my oil at dealer ship my is a 2017 gtr. I'm afraid if I try and sell it they'll pick on the oh you havent taken it to dealer to get oil change I'll offer you 5k less then if you would take it to dealer for oil change etc.do you plan to sell your gtr ? Do you fear they'll bring issues up cause you changed your own oil and yes I knw keep receipts but that's no excuse to low ball you of you try to sell it well the dealer didn't do it ..you feel where I'm going ? Thxs

      So I think you would be good unless you have something like a nismo, we don't to my knowledge (check your manual) have a stamps section where the dealer stamps oil changes or service so I would just worst case do 1 of the oil changes you do a year at the dealership so the carfax has a record on it for the year.

    Do you bother taking your car in for a service at a dealer or specialist? Do you just keep your own record of the changes you've done etc for resale?

    • @dragorocky2

      2012 Black Edition here. Hopefully, I can clear up this question. As owners, we avoid the Nissan dealerships. Why? GT-R tax, we joke about it. But it stands true, smallest example. I went to the dealer to get nitrogen (OEM) in the tires, now all nitrogen arguments aside. I was missing 1 tire valve stem cap, I ordered the matching one from Nissan. Now when the parts guy laughs you know it's bad, $20 for ONE single cap. I do all my own oil changes, and record it for my own purpose. I do not do nothing different then the dealer, same OEM oil and performance rated oil filter, and this is on almost permanent garage queen. Also resale is tough 80% of people modify or drive GTR'S hard anyways. Keeping one in, a non or low launched control showroom status with all OEM parts is how you keep resale value. This was all confirmed by my hagerty appraisal.

      Thanks mate, but if you don't get a dealer or specialist stamp in the service book for oil changes etc does this effect resale value? Does this matter so much on a 2012?

    • @dragorocky2
      @dragorocky2 10 месяцев назад +1

      @@cb8491 Nope made my purchase at 90k cad 7 years ago, it's at 130k-140k evaluation, without the official Nissan log and current milage. If anything you can take the vehicle to the dealership and they can tell you how many times it's been launched. It's honestly really hard to find these without any launches or modifications done. The service logs are the least of ones worries In the used GTR market. The ones who don't do oil changes on their GT-R's are indivuals with busy lives and time constraints and the willingness to spend $250 on a oil change. Basically, the long and short you could get Nissan stamped oil changes, then that same indivual takes it to the track and pounds the hell out of it. Honestly, it's meant to be driven and driven hard and always pushed to it's limits. Only a few us that keep in what Hagerty calls "collector status".

      No no it’s 34.3nm which is 3.5kg.m which is 25ftlbs… make sure you go double check your torque so you don’t leak all your oil out, GTR motors ain’t cheap 👍
