As a 2022 S1000R owner, I was pretty excited to see this video. I'm so glad you liked it! You captured its essence, it's an insane supersport with precise handling when you want to let loose, and super docile and refined when you just want to go out and ride or tour. It's an amazing all-rounder that just grows on you the more you ride it.
In 2 days I will get my s1000r 2022 and am so excited I had very hard decision to decide between street fighter v4 or v2 and this bike and it end up with BMW I hope that it’s the right decision
I’ve got a 2018 with all the mods. It’s absolutely hilarious to ride around. I couldn’t imagine it being more agile. It feels like a wide body 250 at speed. But it teleports. Absolute time travel. Electronic suspension makes it feel like a dual sport. It’s wonderful. Definitely a buzzy bee though.
2022 S1kR owner here. Chase, this review just about hit the nail on the head brother, but you definitely got just the tip of the iceberg for this bike -- this thing is a BEAST!! You had the bike in Dynamic mode, but on the M package you also have the option for Dynamic Pro mode, which allows you to fine tune the individual settings manually. This gives you a little more control of the power delivery, engine braking, etc. You have to enable this feature manually in Vehicle Settings deep within the menu, though, probably why it was overlooked. I hope you get one on loan man, I know you will love this bike even more once you are able to familiarize yourself with the interface!
I have had a S1000R Sport in Racing Red with a black frame and red pinstripe on the tyres for the last 12 months and having travelled approx. 3,900 miles, the main take I can make on owning the bike is how easy it is to ride in town having faultless throttle control and an excellent turning circle. The added value of the self cancelling turn signals and cornering and automatic LED lights help make riding in traffic a breeze. In addition the stability and sure footedness you find when riding on twisty roads as it holds the line without fault allied to the power of the low, mid and upper torque / power band is exhilerating. Once you have completed the initial service you can explore the Dynamic Pro power mode which Chase you were not able to use, here the exhaust exhibits pops and crackles on the overrun and down shifting using the blipper which always brings a smile to my face. Power starts to come on from 3,500 revs all the way up to 11,250 in every gear resulting in the S1000R being faster 0-62 mph than the S1000RR. You are never wanting more from the engine which in standard, sport or M Sport models as all have the same engine installed. It is an excellent motorbike which will deliver.
I am 185cms tall and do not have a screen for me I have no problems, there is no turbulent air at all at any speed I tend to cruise between 70- 80 mph on the motorway (UK) Highway (US) in fact not having a screen helps reduce any pressure on your wrists you may have when riding. On a straight road or in an average speed camera zone set the cruise and relax. I hope that helps.
Gen2 Mt09 sp if I didn't pull the trigger on a gen2 bmw s1000r so basically if I couldn't get the, s1k I'd settle for the Mt09 sp however issue was in used market the yamaha owners wanted bmw money for thier Mt09s
I got my 2022 Hockenheim gray s1000r few weeks ago and i’m still in break in process. After the first service we’ll unlock the beast mode and install a SC project exhaust, so excited 😎
Good friend of mine, (Y-tuber AmenCornerRider) swore by the S1000R....until it began to hurt her wrists and shoulders. She swapped the seat and bars, but just couldn't find the combo for comfort. After trying other models and makes, she finally found the R 9T fit her like a glove.
Did buy that for the forged wheels, bang for bucks wise awesome bike. But not getting what u meant with heavy bike... it is 197kg (434lbs?) for a liter bike with that wheels and the lightweight battery (430 with the carbons).
okay seeing you excited about a beemer, now i wanna see you first ride an s1000XR, not as agile or nervous as this one but the best i can describe it... the comfort and practicallity of a GS combined with the sportiness and the race-dna of the s1000rr.
OC: BMW really knocked it outta the park with the new S1000R. Really wanted to test ride one before getting my MT09 SP. The Ducati Streetfighter might really be it's only true competition as far as being a premium hyper naked bike. The fact that someone got it then traded it in at Mountain really baffles me. As it seemingly checks every box for a naked bike.
OC: I love this thing, it looks beautiful. I think if I were going to buy one though, I would go for the XR. Just the ability to have some extra touring capability is right up my alley. 😎
The grips look like what was on my BMX S1000XR. I rolled off the sponge grips because they were too big for my grip. Much better. Not sure if they were stock or not but I like it without them.
weird that you keep saying "heavy" when it is lighter than even the Duc Streetfighter v4 by about 10 lbs. And the weight you are quoting is without the M package with M Lithium Batter, M Forged Wheels, M Endurance Chain and more....So it is even lighter than claimed. The RR with M package is also lighter than std wet weight.
OC: dude, did I miss it? How did u get through the whole first ride without comparing it to the 2022 xsr900??? Would u consider this bike over that one?
Great video footage and coverage brother! Thanks ! When I can’t ride my 2005 Hayabusa anymore due to my aging body I’ll for sure be looking into a super naked and have never ruled out the BMW
I had a carbon cross country bike with carbon rims and what you are saying lines up with carbon. The story of carbon isn't in looks and weight it's in its handling properties. The area I road in was rough and technical, but that bike was like being on a rollercoaster ride the way it handled the technical rock gardens and the agility. The best upgrade for a mountain bike was carbon wheels. I tried my wheels on the same model aluminum bike that was like riding a block of cheese compared to my bike and they brought it up handling wise. My bike was a 2018 Trek Top Fuel 9.8 SL. The demo bike was a Trek Top Fuel 8. The wheels were 29" Bontrager (Treks house brand) Kovees I think. I am glad to hear it because I am in the market for a motorcycle, but don't want a super sport.
hey @chaseontwowheels ! let me start off by saying you seem like a super chill ,humble dude. i love your videos, been watching them for quite some time now. i do have a question though, if you were to choose between the BMW S1000R, a Ducati streetfighter or a triumph speed triple RS, what would be your choice and why ? :)
if you had to choose just 1 of those 3 for a lifetime ? it's a tough call to take, ... even i am confused, ... inline-4 (sports & sport-tourer) versus Boxer-2 (Adv., torque-monster, but less power, 25% bigger engine) looks-wise i like GS the best, then XR
I rode an '18 Triumph Street Triple RS in the recent past and I'm looking for the next premium bike to take it's place. Might take a look at an S1000R at the end of the season or next season.
Do they have S1000r with sport package only i think it’s $ 1350 added to the bases price of $ 14,995? I’m not looking on taking to the track and race. But to ride in the weekends with friends and relax.
Hey Dustin. Just gotta let you hear from me on this topic. i had Brembos on my first GS. Now I have the Hays. I love the Hays. The first bite is weak. Get a full hand on them and Grab them with all you've got and .....Oh Shit! You're anchored! (My Personal Thought)
The bike looks apsolutly amazing, i am going tomorow to BMW dealer and i am doing test drive and try to loan bike for couple days, and drive it as much i can.Right now i have Honda cb650r i am seriosly thinking to sell my honda wich i apdolutly loving it put it over 33000 km.O man cant wait to ride BMW.

Hi what should I go for the s1000r or the s1000rr. I am confused I would like to have a 200ps monster but I am not that healthy that I can ride a supersports comfortably and if I go for the s1000r I can have a comfortable riding position but not that top speed. I usually ride in cities and highways. What should I go for ? I currently ride a street triple rs
Hey Chase love your content! Here’s a question. BMW S1000R, Yamaha MT-10 or Triumph Street Triple RS? (3rd bike, owned two 600cc sport bikes in the past).
I have Sport version and have Dynamic-Pro mode. I love those pops and bangs everytime I release the throttle at around 4k rpm. My is close to 20000km and sadly handle bar started vibrating like crazy, I can't feel my fingers after 1-2 hrs of riding. I hope they find the reason what's happening.
Wow! 05:48: You mentioned the heavy hitters in the Hyper-Naked Bike category, without mentioning my bike, the KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo; which barely takes a backseat to the Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory (also not mentioned) and the named, Ducati Streetfighter V4. The SDR will eat the MT-10 SP and the Honda CB1000R's lunches; not to mention the featured, BMW S100R-M.
Nice review! I love my 22' S1KR, I just put the full Akra and Brentune on it and wow does it add so much power and character to the already awesome bike. Side note, I also thought I had carbon wheels till I saw an RR with the carbon wheels lol.
I just bought a 2022 S1kr in red, I put the akra headers on, have the brentune stage 1 ready with the open flappers upgrade ready to go. I just to get the bike broken in. So my question to you, you definitely noticed a difference with brentune on the S1kr? I know on my double r, it was very noticeable
@@CrayzJohnny It was definitely noticeable. So much so, that I have done nothing else to the bike. Seems perfect to me, even without the flapper delete.
These bike do EXTREMELY well with tuning.... they tend to have unusually high gains compared to other bikes when tuned. Wich is another huge plus for this bike I'm talking like 25hp gains from a tune... take you from 150 wheel hp to 180(179 is what I've seen on the dyno) wheel hp its nuts how much these bikes uncorke with a tune and exhaust. That's seriously like 200hp at the engine if you're getting 179hp at the wheel....Ugh I want this bike so bad 🥲😭
as a rider and commuter the hill lock sounds very appealing but as someone who buys only used stuff im SURE thats the kind of thing thats going to be riddled with issues or cause them
If you roll the throttle forward, it cancels the cruise. Super convenient, so you don't have to slide that rocker switch ever. Just leave the cruise switched on.
OC: S1000 R or RR, I'd love one, but don't need a dedicated track bike right now. If I was going street riding maybe the R, but more likely an XR. Still, it showed one hell of a 40 - 80 pull. And that sound check, sweeeet.
I owned a 2018 s1000r with the dynamic package but had the base rims I absolutely loved the bike tons of miles on it bike loved to be rode hard it wanted to move it move it the tech spoiled me as a rider and I crave it again
I love this review ❤ u did a great job this bike deserves more recognition The only thing that I wish it has more torque and hp i don’t know why bmw keep this low with power while street fighter v2 still ahead and can’t compare it with street fighter v4 But still good bike am stil waiting to get it next week
Dynamic mode is the LEAST intrusive which means the Fastest throttle response, RAIN is the most intrusive with slower throttle response opposite of your explanation. Also the M model is over 20 thousand and wheels are forged not carbon fiber on the M model
Great review chase this is a great bike you also need to check out the xr model I tried both this and the xr and choose the xr more comfortable with the same power , looks and great tech
I only have a few minor gripes with this bike, and one of them being the key fob…IMO, if you’re going to offer one on a bike, it absolutely has to do everything, or nothing. Why does BMW supply this bike with a key fob that turns the bike on, locks the steering lock, but NOT the fuel filler cap?? Like all of their other bikes with the fob do this. There has to have been some sort of design complication along the way that prevented this capability to explain the omission.
That road work on highway 9 ain't helping those test rides is it? LOL!! Still Roswell is a beautiful little area but aint quit as nice as it is up here in Dawson and Dahlonga.
I so want one in the garage next to my GS! There’s actually not a huge difference to the previous (arguably more distinctive) model other than the instruments, some plastics and headlight assembly. I hope you can get hold of one long term. I look forward to the content if you do.
Chase, you referred to this bike as heavy a few times. I think it weighs the same as my SV650 and has more than twice the power, twice the torque, refined suspension, good brakes…?
the reason carbon fiber wheels do so much is because it reduces mass by allot. you can actualy try out the principle of how it works. if you take a fidget spinner and spin it upp and then while it's spinning you try to just flip it around in your hand. you will feel the forces in play then :). makes it little more understandable why lighter wheels make such a big difference.
No offence Sean Bud !I dissagree. The shift Cam would give the Bike toooooo much GoGoGo, maki'n it a rocket launcher instead of an allround good every day bike with enough grunt. (my Personal opinion)
@@PutOnYourLid I totally get where your coming from and I do agree with you for the most part bc the bike does already have 165 crank HP. Hell my 09 FZ1 has 150 crank HP and it's far more then fast enough lol. Why I suggested putting the shift cam in it is that I think it would help the bike rise back up into the top 3 of best super naked's and it would be a very easy transition to the system as the RR already has it. I also don't think it would necessarily kill the every day driveability of the bike as shift cams are supposed to help create power much higher in the rev range. I have watched countless reviews on super naked's and they say the tuono albeit has 200 crank and 175ish whp is is very rideable just moseying around. This is just fully my opinion though bc I have never had the chance to ride any of those motorcycles. Me personally I'm saving up for a super duke evo bc I'm a L twin super fan boy
@@seanc6754 Hey Sean thanks for that. What about the DUC Streetfighter. I've ridden them both (2+4). Hell it blew my mind!I dont have enought footage to share a review on YT but I recon the'll invite me again. Cheers
@@Accurize2 Convenience and safety…you don’t have to hold either your front or back brake, and can take off from an incline/decline smoother, no chance of roll back for those less versed in managing hills.
I just want to address some concerns about Beau and all the equipment he has on his knees. In the event of a crash in which the airbag would deploy, he’s gonna get said equipment launched at his face 🤕🤕🤕
I'm a 2019 s1000r model owner & wouldn't change it. Having said that, in my opinion, BMW missed a huge opportunity with the revision of the s1000r. It's utterly under-powered for its category of a "super naked/hyper-naked". This bike should have had a *minimum* of 185bhp _not_ 160bhp, the other is the poor torque which should have been much higher. BMW should have stepped up to compete against Ducati, Aprilia and Yamaha in this class. They did not & have lost a-lot of ground.
A misconception is that the M model and sport model are different in many ways and they really are not. Other than the wheels and track stuff maybe the Akra silencer. I have the 2022 and you can still flick it in dynamic pro and it’s extremely flickable without the forged or carbon wheels. Only draw back is the power being at the 6k rpm and over
@@LucasSantos-cb1fh honestly went in a completely different direction. Test drove a Sportster S and fell in love with it. Local BMW dealership wanted way more than I was willing to pay.

My z1000 gained a solid 25 hp on the dyno although fully tuned it’s just shy of what this makes stock lol
Chase its such a shame you can't test these bikes on some twisty roads. Hard to say it handles well with one corner. Good video anyway and nice bike👍
as a rider and commuter the hill lock sounds very appealing but as someone who buys only used stuff im SURE thats the kind of thing thats going to be riddled with issues or cause them
If you roll the throttle forward, it cancels the cruise. Super convenient, so you don't have to slide that rocker switch ever. Just leave the cruise switched on.
I don't understand how "playing with it" will help you understand the controls but you do you Chase.
OC: S1000 R or RR, I'd love one, but don't need a dedicated track bike right now. If I was going street riding maybe the R, but more likely an XR. Still, it showed one hell of a 40 - 80 pull. And that sound check, sweeeet.
So how much is this BMW S1000r you testing? Thanks again for your informative review and insight. Will update you when i get my own S1000R.
I owned a 2018 s1000r with the dynamic package but had the base rims I absolutely loved the bike tons of miles on it bike loved to be rode hard it wanted to move it move it the tech spoiled me as a rider and I crave it again
one of the cleanest bikes on the market
OC: that's a pretty bike. I definitely think it's the best BMW I've seen
does it come with passenger seat cover or seat cowl?
Great review! Can you do one for the 2020+ BMW S1000XR. And perhaps a comparison video from gen 1 and gen 2. BMW makes great motorcycles!
Very cool bike, but I’ll take the Ducati SFV4 every day.
Great vid! I love my 2016 s1000r. Hyper nakeds are the best bikes.
How do you think this stacks up against the zh2?
I love this review ❤ u did a great job this bike deserves more recognition
The only thing that I wish it has more torque and hp i don’t know why bmw keep this low with power while street fighter v2 still ahead and can’t compare it with street fighter v4
But still good bike am stil waiting to get it next week
Dynamic mode is the LEAST intrusive which means the Fastest throttle response, RAIN is the most intrusive with slower throttle response opposite of your explanation. Also the M model is over 20 thousand and wheels are forged not carbon fiber on the M model
My dream bike, full stop.
Real question is how does it compare to the v4 street fighter
I got one…..in red. YEEEEAAAAAAAHHHHAAA!😎👍😎⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When are you going to do the Indian scout bobber!!!!!!
Come on really... thats THE BIKE I WANT... lucky. Love the videos..
what your favorite bike in general that you love to ride
Oc, this has to be the best 👏
Great review chase this is a great bike you also need to check out the xr model I tried both this and the xr and choose the xr more comfortable with the same power , looks and great tech
What did you have before the XR? I'm looking at the XR as well, currently on the RR. Ride safe!
OC: This is a dream bike for me.
could you review the s1000rr?
Chase, you referred to this bike as heavy a few times. I think it weighs the same as my SV650 and has more than twice the power, twice the torque, refined suspension, good brakes…?
the reason carbon fiber wheels do so much is because it reduces mass by allot. you can actualy try out the principle of how it works. if you take a fidget spinner and spin it upp and then while it's spinning you try to just flip it around in your hand. you will feel the forces in play then :). makes it little more understandable why lighter wheels make such a big difference.
Unsprung mass/weight.
chase great video!!!! and your missing the kawasaki zh2 a monster of the hypernakeds
The ONLY thing the S1000R needs is the shift cam engine the RR has and Wa-La
Cheers
Glad to see this bike. It's my dream bike!!!
It’s called Hill Hold, and, yes, it works well, very handy on both inclines and declines.
How is it any different than using the rear brake while stopped like you should be doing anyways?
@@Accurize2 Convenience and safety…you don’t have to hold either your front or back brake, and can take off from an incline/decline smoother, no chance of roll back for those less versed in managing hills.
can you do a review of CFMOTO 700CL? New bike from China.
Love this Bike Street fighter lifestyle ✊
They did not & have lost a-lot of ground.
i think your shortest 40-80 pull was the mt 09
Should rev-test the blue Kia out front 😂
What helmet is that
A misconception is that the M model and sport model are different in many ways and they really are not. Other than the wheels and track stuff maybe the Akra silencer.
I have the 2022 and you can still flick it in dynamic pro and it’s extremely flickable without the forged or carbon wheels. Only draw back is the power being at the 6k rpm and over
Hey guys love the content! Could you see if you could review the new Ducati Multistrada V2s
The M1000R is about to come about, OMG. OMG OMG.....200 hp naked...my god.
Trying to decide between this and the XR for my next commute/weekend bike. Love the looks and all the tech
Im in the same boat this or the xr which one have you decided to go with?
@@LucasSantos-cb1fh honestly went in a completely different direction. Test drove a Sportster S and fell in love with it. Local BMW dealership wanted way more than I was willing to pay.
@@mattstakeontheancients7594 oh wow! Yeah definitely a completely different route, I like that bike as well
Doesn’t wouldn’t suite me well I’m a little too tall for it would look like I’m in a kids pocket bike
@@LucasSantos-cb1fh I’m 5’6 so fits me well but if your tall can definitely understand. Honestly still like the 1SK especially the power and may try and get one used if the price goes down. Love sportbikes as well as cruisers.
