Travelers' Guide from a fellow Turk: 1) In cities with verified water sources(lakes and mountains) there are drinkable tap waters available in most locations you may find, i would recommend drinking bottled water in city centers tho. 2) You can tell people that you're already full if you don't want to eat what they are offering. If you are visiting someone's house though you shouldn't directly refuse the food they are offering cuz they'll get sad. 3) Don't mess around and stay safe; Turkish people often get at least middle school level english education and will understand partially what you're trying to say. They won't want to communicate with you only if speaking is hard for their education level so don't be fooled and speak/act carefully and respectfully around people. Also there may break out some fights due to misunderstanding and language barrier. We are estimated to have the most stressed out and hotheaded population out of the entire Europe, and fights wont be chivalrous since everyone has some sort of weaponary in these days. Other than all that Turkish locals are some of the friendliest people you can ever meet and will be more tolerant to foreigners than they are to each other. 4) Don't take the taxi cuz they like to scam tourists and even worse. Why? Cuz they are simply assholes. 5)Do your shopping carefully and travel with a guide/ local friend if you wanna buy stuff in local areas. They will know if something isn't right. 6)Don't be afraid of soldiers and policemen, they are in your side against terrorism, theft and everything else. If you break a rule/law by accident you can explain yourself and get out of the trouble stressing that you just don't know how stuff works here respectfully. 6) Wait till the light is green whenever you are crossing the road and never cross the road without attention where there are no lights because Turkish drivers aren't the most distinguished and respectful ones. 7) Never get involved in road rage bc you might get shot. 8) Never bother getting into a fight in the Blacksea region. You'll get shot. 9) Stay clear of the rural areas and ghettos and always remember we have 10+ million refugees mostly from war thorn countries. Be careful at night time where it doesn't feel very secure(bc it probably isn't) 10) There is estimated to be over 10mn stray dogs in our country. Most of these animals are well fed and. chill but some of them might consider attacking you. You have every right to defend yourself in that scenario so if an unsupervised dog attacks you; - Grab something - Don't swing that thing carelessly and lose it bc that would be the end - You ain't outrunning a dog - Stand your ground, make eye contact and fight back - Pray to whatever deity you beleive in - Make yourself appear strong and predetor-like so the dog might want to reconsider tasting your meat 🥩 - Shout for help but don't sound too scared - Slowly retreat to safety eighter inside a building or you may even consider climbing a tree if you have time - Go see a doctor if you survive - Travel with life insurance and write your will before tryna fight off a Kangal dog( 700lbs bite force, 56kmh speed)
@@h4m2_ i misread that completely. Marmaris is a city built around tourism. There are hundereds of ancient Ionic buildings, kings' tombs litterally carved into hills, Doric sepulchres etc. It has one of the most beautiful seas you can get. Prices will be kinda high and the temperature will be even higher if you're willing to go at the summertime. Spring in my opinion is the best season to go there when it's not crowded nor burning. Other than tourist scams and flies there will be no problem travelling Marmaris.
Turkey is such an amazing county. They have many religions people but they are able to live in peace they belong to Europe with no problem and for EU citizens Turkey is such an amazing exotic destination and it's also safe! I tottaly respect and love Your country Turkey. Bye bye from Czech

@@FlipTekk23 Turkish people are known for their hospitality and kindness. Therefore they are, by extension, also a very respectful and tolerating people. However, due to the: 1. Insane political & economic & cultural & religious unrest in these past 10 years, 2. 200% yearly inflation rate since 2020, 3. Millions of illegal immigrants causing the crime rate to skyrocket, 4. Millions of stray dogs attacking hundreds of people every day and many people still lobbying against any potential solutions, so tl;dr having new problems every day and none of them getting solved... Xenophobia, racism, anger, stress, depression, and all sorts of other terrible conditions have increased SIGNIFICANTLY. And I cannot stress this enough. Turkey is no longer that safe, lovely country. It has changed too much.
Hello, 1-Yep it is allowed to smoke everywhere outside. 2-Actually, you had bad luck while choosing the restaurant. You are right, turkish families love to have diner with children, but there are still places that are not for children. For me, there are places where i can go with my friends, also there are other places i should go with my family. It is up to you. The place you gone was for families with children i guess. 3- DO NOT USE TAXIS in Turkey. We , as a citizen, are also facing problems with them.
4- For musque, yeah you should be wearing appropriate clothes, but i dont think you should cover your hairs. The respect to the mosques is different than what you expect.
5- the red color on the flag comes from the blood of the soldiers. So we took it, it did not give us for free. So, the flag represents the every turkish soldier who were died for our country.
7 - if you need shop. DO NOT use the shops on the streets. Their workers can tell more prices than the actual just cuz of yo re tourist. You can use mall’s. Their products are real-original and the prices are static.
Lastly, Turkey is a part of the World. You need to see it. For general recommendations, if you can come the normal places like not popular. No one can touch you. You seem like a benefit to our country. And small businesses are the main part of our culture. When you go those places, you all are welcome, you are not lied. I remember a number of memories that the people of Turkey were saving the tourist from any bad situation. If you go the most populer streets like Istiklal, you will be welcome by the people seeing you like a mine 😂

Nice video but let me correct a little mistake. Marmaris and Bodrum aren't big cities. They are Muğla's towns. Big cities are İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Konya, Bursa, Antalya, Adana etc.

Turkey has many different cultures so every place’s culture and trafition are much more different than others in there… But I agree with you about smokers because I can not sit everywhere as a non-smoker. Nowadays Turkish economy is extremly bad so many Turkish people can not buy new things , can not travel easily everything is much expensive… İstanbul is very cosmopolitic place where is like a different country so you can see many different people in there and there is sometimes very daingrous for us if you do not knot well there in İstanbul! Many times we can not book any hotel in Marmaris, Bodrum and those kind of turistik places because those hotels much more expensive for Turkish people! Hello, I am Turkish and I would like to share my views on some parts of the video. 2:16 Refusing the offer of food in Turkey, leaving that food on the plate, etc. it's considered disrespectful because we think you don't like that food :) 5:16 You can't do this in metropolises, but there are places where you can do it in small cities, especially in villages. For example, although it is in the same district, you can easily drink water from the tap in some villages of Lüleburgaz, while in the center you can't. but you can still make tea with this water or use it in your meals. I'm Turkish, I've been drinking tea made in this way since I was little, I haven't had any problems with it. Just don't drink directly. 6:20 Turks are perhaps the most nationalistic and patriotic nation. If you disrespect national values even if you criticize you might be beaten.
You can wear whatever clothes you want in Turkey. Mini shorts, skirts, dresses with rope straps... You can easily pet stray animals. You can cool off in its deep blue waters and wonderful beaches. 🇹🇷❤️
8:14 Avoid packs of dogs especially near open fields. They tend to get protective and attack you. Lots of kids die each year. It is a new problem. I hope it gets resolved soon.
@@brazilbiba6671 stay away from groups of dogs. lone ones will not be a problem. and groups of dogs don't do anything in crowded areas. basically, do not get close to multiple dogs if you are alone.
I lived in Istanbul for 9 years, as well as in 16 different countries, and travelled in 53. I think all these rules are common sense. Of course you tell a taxi driver to use the meter, of course you don’t refuse food that is offered to you, of course you dress appropriately in any religious location, including churches, temples etc, and of course you don’t disrespect a country’s flag! My only different opinion here is that tap water in Istanbul is perfectly drinkable! I always drank it and never got sick! I would like to add that you must check menu prices in restaurants carefully and when you get the bill, make sure you’re not being overcharged. If you are, just say ‘There’s been a mistake’ and refuse to pay any more than what it says on the menu. Never sit down in a place where you can’t see a menu with prices!
Came back from Turkey 5 days ago. Visited Istanbul, Antalya, pamukkale, Konya, Cappadocia in 7 days. amazing place and what you say is so true. so many place that we missed. wish i could say longer
Just traveled in Istanbul. Spent 4 days there. I'm an American that was with a tour group. Istanbul is a beautiful city, mixing old and new buildings, stores etc. Traffic is insane and makes NYC look like a small village. Forget about driving. It can take 2 hrs to go 3 miles. 1) take the tram whenever possible. It's easy to use and safe. 2) if you MUST travel by car, no, do NOT use a taxi off the street. Call a car service, like Al's Taxi. We used them and they were sensational. (not affiliated with them other than a highly satisfied customer.) 3) very friendly and accommodating people. But be prepared for a hard sell at any shops you visit. Also, bumping into you and pushing you as they try and pass you on the street is normal. Get over it and don't be like you might be in the US and start a problem if someone "seems" rude 4) Almost all merchants prefer credit cards, euros or US dollars. No one wants Lira. As in, no one. 5) Stray dogs abound. steer clear of them. Cats roam too. They are not your pets so stay away from them as well. 6) stay in reputable hotels, and bring a sound machine 7) hire a private guide (look for 5 star rated) for the day to tour you around, especially for #8 below and mosque visits. (see Toursbylocals or GetYourGuide etc) 8) visit the Grand Bazaar and Spice Market for a once in a lifetime experience. 9) bargain for anything that you want 10) be nice to people and they will reciprocate
My lasting first impression on first arriving in Istanbul were the Hotel cats, - This was a 4 star hotel, and I was very moved at how highly these creatures were regarded, and the kindness shown toward them as they hung out in and around the hotel reception. Go Turkey!!!!!!

4:00 I think you explain it a bit of disorganized you could wear like you want but some place could have dress rules you can look for if place has dress code or not 5:22 you could ask owner of house if you are in hotel you could ask some worker if water is drinkable or not (in my house tap water is drinkable)
I'm a nonsmoker, but I'm just going to go with the idea that I'm going to get some 2nd hand smoke there. Surly getting some 2nd hand smoke periodically for a few days won't kill me.
What to avoid in Istanbul: 1- never take taxi from the street, you will pay even 10 times more!!! Always use ap Bi Taksi - you will pay according to taxmeter , you know you driver , always you can make complaint. 2- avoid fake watches, every seller has same crap from same Chinese factory. They might look good but mechanisms as crap . Seller give you warranty but you have to back to Turkey to fix watch. Is it worth it? 3- avoid Grand Baazar, totally overpriced, in shops around grand baazar you can get much better deals 4- before go to restaurant ask for menu with prices, otherwise you might get very high bill

That Taxi scam it's all over Europe I guess. In my Czech Republic we had many causes about this problem in our capital city of Prague. The internet and media do so much to reveal them. I guess those scammers usually met the law and be charged! This problem is gotten so much better

Hi, I live in the Türkiye, when I have seen this video title I felt like something might be wrong, so I just came here to fix any incorrect claims, but guess what, nothing is wrong about those warnings lol, all of them true, I just wanna say well done for your correct observations.
I have watched several of your videos and other You Tubers, did not have an idea how big Antalya is. We rented Airbnb thinking it will be close to City Center but it was in Belek and 45 min from City Center which was a big mistake. We are glad we rented a car. Turkey drivers are crazy, I actually saw a fight right in front of us while we were at stop light but I was amazed that some people got out of their cars to break the fight. We did not have a problem with taxi drivers from airport to hotel and back. It only cost us $25 one way with the meter but we gave them 100 TL for tip. We loved Capadoccia and Kas the most. Istanbul was packed with tourists and traffic was really bad. Lines to Mosque and the Top Kami was so long. I could not get a ticket to the train because it was hard to understand and someone said you need to have a card for the machine. We did not have a chance to go to Galata tower. We enjoyed staying at Sultanahmet as everything is walking distance.
DON'T EVER DO NUMBER 9!!! listen i worked at a liquior store at a touristic place when i was young and all tourists tried to bargain over liquior prices because they read that guides online that says "bargain before shopping". But in Turkey at lots of places has fixed prices and you can't cut prices because you are just working there! you do not own the shop. Lots of tourists tried to buy luqiors cheap from me and it was exhausting!.
Sorry you had so much trouble with tourists! These days it’s probably even worse because of inflation and the prices always changing. In a foreign country it’s hard to know what’s what quickly :) But in small shops it can happen that the owner also works in the store and can actually offer a lower price. Although I personally wouldn’t bargain at the liquor store or a grocery. And basically everywhere where the price is on display for every item it’s usually a fixed price.
Word of warning regarding Fake Brand name items - it might seem like there is no problem as long as you know it's fake and you pay an appropriate price, BUT BEWARE! When you arrive in some countries, if the customs officers find them, you can be fined for bringing such items into the country - and they will be confiscated. In extreme cases, you could be arrested and prosecuted for it. Be careful.

If you are wearing a fake designer watch or carrying a fake designer handbag for example, as you enter a country with strong copywrite laws, you can be stopped and prosecuted for illegally importing fake goods. The top designer brands have such stringent manufacturing details that it will be easy for a trained person to identify them as fake. You end up with the items being siezed and a large fine at best and at worst it could be a court case with the potential of a prison sentence. The tougher penalties are going to be where there is evidence that you're doing it to sell them on ~ so, if you get caught coming into the UK wearing a fake Rolex on your wrist, but nothing else fake in your luggage, they might just confiscate and destroy the watch and give you a fine; but if they find 20 fake Rolex watches in your suitcase, it's likely to be arrest and a court case. Just don't do it eh.
Of course, the capitalist western countries would be heartbroken if they knew you bought a high quality, good fitting polo shirt from Turkey for £8 which costs a disturbingly extortionate £75 in the UK.
Uber didn’t work so good for us in Istanbul unfortunately, didn’t even come during rush hours. but also in other cities (like Antalya) there is no Uber or bitaxi

Covering the body in accordance with Islam is not a strict rule. It is like a shield to control the body, which Allah gave to man as a test to gain heaven, against the impulses given to man as a test, and for a single or married person to live with a sense of loyalty. Dressing revealingly is a psychological cruelty to man's impulses. It is rigidity because God created emotions and impulses as a test for humans, but it is a good thing to pass the test successfully and not to oppress someone else's feelings. Also, another issue, for example, going to bed full while your neighbor is hungry is selfishness. It is described as modern ignorance that has not reached the high civilization of Islam.

10. if you want to live in Türkiye, don't pick a random building who just has a nice view, take a government approved or toki building even though it maybe doesn't have a view. You do not need to risk your live in earthquake situations just for a nice view 👍

As a Turkish person i can just give few VERY important warnings 1- don't disrespect Atatürk 2-don't treat stray animals badly 3-don't be overly aggressive towards people and look for fights, people here can be really aggressive and you might get hurt or even killed 4-don't try to hit on someone's girlfriend or wife, you'll get mobbed 5-don't make it very obvious that you are not aware of your surroundings, people can try to take advantage of it, especially to a taxi driver or a seller, bring a turkish friend with you and make them ask the price first before buying it if you can, this will avoid getting scammed! 6-don't be afraid to ask for help, turks love helping out but always be on the watch, make sure you don't follow anyone into very dark and quiet streets, 7-lastly, always remember that you are a visitor here, don't do anything that will go against people's culture and beliefs. This goes for every country and every human being. Visitors should behave like visitors. Just follow the rules and enjoy your trip!
Its a good advice to wear earplugs when you swim in the beach, so you dont get very fine sands in you'r ears. You can get sick from it. Happend to me in Alanya, other than that it was a good trip :)

Travelers' Guide from a fellow Turk:
1) In cities with verified water sources(lakes and mountains) there are drinkable tap waters available in most locations you may find, i would recommend drinking bottled water in city centers tho.
2) You can tell people that you're already full if you don't want to eat what they are offering. If you are visiting someone's house though you shouldn't directly refuse the food they are offering cuz they'll get sad.
3) Don't mess around and stay safe; Turkish people often get at least middle school level english education and will understand partially what you're trying to say. They won't want to communicate with you only if speaking is hard for their education level so don't be fooled and speak/act carefully and respectfully around people. Also there may break out some fights due to misunderstanding and language barrier. We are estimated to have the most stressed out and hotheaded population out of the entire Europe, and fights wont be chivalrous since everyone has some sort of weaponary in these days. Other than all that Turkish locals are some of the friendliest people you can ever meet and will be more tolerant to foreigners than they are to each other.
4) Don't take the taxi cuz they like to scam tourists and even worse. Why? Cuz they are simply assholes.
5)Do your shopping carefully and travel with a guide/ local friend if you wanna buy stuff in local areas. They will know if something isn't right.
6)Don't be afraid of soldiers and policemen, they are in your side against terrorism, theft and everything else. If you break a rule/law by accident you can explain yourself and get out of the trouble stressing that you just don't know how stuff works here respectfully.
6) Wait till the light is green whenever you are crossing the road and never cross the road without attention where there are no lights because Turkish drivers aren't the most distinguished and respectful ones.
7) Never get involved in road rage bc you might get shot.
8) Never bother getting into a fight in the Blacksea region. You'll get shot.
9) Stay clear of the rural areas and ghettos and always remember we have 10+ million refugees mostly from war thorn countries. Be careful at night time where it doesn't feel very secure(bc it probably isn't)
10) There is estimated to be over 10mn stray dogs in our country. Most of these animals are well fed and. chill but some of them might consider attacking you. You have every right to defend yourself in that scenario so if an unsupervised dog attacks you;
- Grab something
- Don't swing that thing carelessly and lose it bc that would be the end
- You ain't outrunning a dog
- Stand your ground, make eye contact and fight back
- Pray to whatever deity you beleive in
- Make yourself appear strong and predetor-like so the dog might want to reconsider tasting your meat 🥩
- Shout for help but don't sound too scared
- Slowly retreat to safety eighter inside a building or you may even consider climbing a tree if you have time
- Go see a doctor if you survive
- Travel with life insurance and write your will before tryna fight off a Kangal dog( 700lbs bite force, 56kmh speed)

@@h4m2_ i misread that completely. Marmaris is a city built around tourism. There are hundereds of ancient Ionic buildings, kings' tombs litterally carved into hills, Doric sepulchres etc. It has one of the most beautiful seas you can get. Prices will be kinda high and the temperature will be even higher if you're willing to go at the summertime. Spring in my opinion is the best season to go there when it's not crowded nor burning. Other than tourist scams and flies there will be no problem travelling Marmaris.

However, due to the: 1. Insane political & economic & cultural & religious unrest in these past 10 years, 2. 200% yearly inflation rate since 2020, 3. Millions of illegal immigrants causing the crime rate to skyrocket, 4. Millions of stray dogs attacking hundreds of people every day and many people still lobbying against any potential solutions, so tl;dr having new problems every day and none of them getting solved... Xenophobia, racism, anger, stress, depression, and all sorts of other terrible conditions have increased SIGNIFICANTLY. And I cannot stress this enough. Turkey is no longer that safe, lovely country. It has changed too much.

1-Yep it is allowed to smoke everywhere outside.
2-Actually, you had bad luck while choosing the restaurant. You are right, turkish families love to have diner with children, but there are still places that are not for children. For me, there are places where i can go with my friends, also there are other places i should go with my family. It is up to you. The place you gone was for families with children i guess.
3- DO NOT USE TAXIS in Turkey. We , as a citizen, are also facing problems with them.
4- For musque, yeah you should be wearing appropriate clothes, but i dont think you should cover your hairs. The respect to the mosques is different than what you expect.
5- the red color on the flag comes from the blood of the soldiers. So we took it, it did not give us for free. So, the flag represents the every turkish soldier who were died for our country.
6 - the dogs and the cats are part of us 😊
7 - if you need shop. DO NOT use the shops on the streets. Their workers can tell more prices than the actual just cuz of yo re tourist. You can use mall’s. Their products are real-original and the prices are static.
Lastly, Turkey is a part of the World. You need to see it. For general recommendations, if you can come the normal places like not popular. No one can touch you. You seem like a benefit to our country. And small businesses are the main part of our culture. When you go those places, you all are welcome, you are not lied. I remember a number of memories that the people of Turkey were saving the tourist from any bad situation.
If you go the most populer streets like Istiklal, you will be welcome by the people seeing you like a mine 😂

Nowadays Turkish economy is extremly bad so many Turkish people can not buy new things , can not travel easily everything is much expensive… İstanbul is very cosmopolitic place where is like a different country so you can see many different people in there and there is sometimes very daingrous for us if you do not knot well there in İstanbul! 5:16 You can't do this in metropolises, but there are places where you can do it in small cities, especially in villages. For example, although it is in the same district, you can easily drink water from the tap in some villages of Lüleburgaz, while in the center you can't. but you can still make tea with this water or use it in your meals. I'm Turkish, I've been drinking tea made in this way since I was little, I haven't had any problems with it. Just don't drink directly.
6:20 Turks are perhaps the most nationalistic and patriotic nation. If you disrespect national values even if you criticize you might be beaten.

8:14 Avoid packs of dogs especially near open fields. They tend to get protective and attack you. Lots of kids die each year. It is a new problem. I hope it gets resolved soon.

I lived in Istanbul for 9 years, as well as in 16 different countries, and travelled in 53. I think all these rules are common sense. Of course you tell a taxi driver to use the meter, of course you don’t refuse food that is offered to you, of course you dress appropriately in any religious location, including churches, temples etc, and of course you don’t disrespect a country’s flag! My only different opinion here is that tap water in Istanbul is perfectly drinkable! I always drank it and never got sick! I would like to add that you must check menu prices in restaurants carefully and when you get the bill, make sure you’re not being overcharged. If you are, just say ‘There’s been a mistake’ and refuse to pay any more than what it says on the menu. Never sit down in a place where you can’t see a menu with prices!
I'd rather sit with adult smokers outside than inside with a bunch of noisy kids. LOL.

Just traveled in Istanbul. Spent 4 days there. I'm an American that was with a tour group. Istanbul is a beautiful city, mixing old and new buildings, stores etc. Traffic is insane and makes NYC look like a small village. Forget about driving. It can take 2 hrs to go 3 miles.
1) take the tram whenever possible. It's easy to use and safe.
2) if you MUST travel by car, no, do NOT use a taxi off the street. Call a car service, like Al's Taxi. We used them and they were sensational. (not affiliated with them other than a highly satisfied customer.)
3) very friendly and accommodating people. But be prepared for a hard sell at any shops you visit. Also, bumping into you and pushing you as they try and pass you on the street is normal. Get over it and don't be like you might be in the US and start a problem if someone "seems" rude
4) Almost all merchants prefer credit cards, euros or US dollars. No one wants Lira. As in, no one.
5) Stray dogs abound. steer clear of them. Cats roam too. They are not your pets so stay away from them as well.
6) stay in reputable hotels, and bring a sound machine
7) hire a private guide (look for 5 star rated) for the day to tour you around, especially for #8 below and mosque visits. (see Toursbylocals or GetYourGuide etc)
8) visit the Grand Bazaar and Spice Market for a once in a lifetime experience.
9) bargain for anything that you want
10) be nice to people and they will reciprocate
My lasting first impression on first arriving in Istanbul were the Hotel cats, - This was a 4 star hotel, and I was very moved at how highly these creatures were regarded, and the kindness shown toward them as they hung out in and around the hotel reception.

I'm a nonsmoker, but I'm just going to go with the idea that I'm going to get some 2nd hand smoke there. Surly getting some 2nd hand smoke periodically for a few days won't kill me.
I had so much fun there. My 3 week vacation turned into 3 months. Way back then, it was 1 US Dollar = 2,200 Turkish Lira.
Our country is only good for tourists anyway.
What to avoid in Istanbul:
1- never take taxi from the street, you will pay even 10 times more!!! Always use ap Bi Taksi - you will pay according to taxmeter , you know you driver , always you can make complaint.
2- avoid fake watches, every seller has same crap from same Chinese factory. They might look good but mechanisms as crap . Seller give you warranty but you have to back to Turkey to fix watch. Is it worth it?
3- avoid Grand Baazar, totally overpriced, in shops around grand baazar you can get much better deals
4- before go to restaurant ask for menu with prices, otherwise you might get very high bill
but we can get gold from grand Bazaar?

That Taxi scam it's all over Europe I guess. In my Czech Republic we had many causes about this problem in our capital city of Prague. The internet and media do so much to reveal them. I guess those scammers usually met the law and be charged! This problem is gotten so much better

I have watched several of your videos and other You Tubers, did not have an idea how big Antalya is. We rented Airbnb thinking it will be close to City Center but it was in Belek and 45 min from City Center which was a big mistake. We are glad we rented a car. Turkey drivers are crazy, I actually saw a fight right in front of us while we were at stop light but I was amazed that some people got out of their cars to break the fight. We did not have a problem with taxi drivers from airport to hotel and back. It only cost us $25 one way with the meter but we gave them 100 TL for tip. We loved Capadoccia and Kas the most. Istanbul was packed with tourists and traffic was really bad. Lines to Mosque and the Top Kami was so long. I could not get a ticket to the train because it was hard to understand and someone said you need to have a card for the machine. We did not have a chance to go to Galata tower. We enjoyed staying at Sultanahmet as everything is walking distance.
DON'T EVER DO NUMBER 9!!! listen i worked at a liquior store at a touristic place when i was young and all tourists tried to bargain over liquior prices because they read that guides online that says "bargain before shopping". But in Turkey at lots of places has fixed prices and you can't cut prices because you are just working there! you do not own the shop. Lots of tourists tried to buy luqiors cheap from me and it was exhausting!.
Sorry you had so much trouble with tourists! These days it’s probably even worse because of inflation and the prices always changing. In a foreign country it’s hard to know what’s what quickly :)
But in small shops it can happen that the owner also works in the store and can actually offer a lower price. Although I personally wouldn’t bargain at the liquor store or a grocery. And basically everywhere where the price is on display for every item it’s usually a fixed price.

Word of warning regarding Fake Brand name items - it might seem like there is no problem as long as you know it's fake and you pay an appropriate price, BUT BEWARE! When you arrive in some countries, if the customs officers find them, you can be fined for bringing such items into the country - and they will be confiscated. In extreme cases, you could be arrested and prosecuted for it. Be careful.

If you are wearing a fake designer watch or carrying a fake designer handbag for example, as you enter a country with strong copywrite laws, you can be stopped and prosecuted for illegally importing fake goods. The top designer brands have such stringent manufacturing details that it will be easy for a trained person to identify them as fake. You end up with the items being siezed and a large fine at best and at worst it could be a court case with the potential of a prison sentence. The tougher penalties are going to be where there is evidence that you're doing it to sell them on ~ so, if you get caught coming into the UK wearing a fake Rolex on your wrist, but nothing else fake in your luggage, they might just confiscate and destroy the watch and give you a fine; but if they find 20 fake Rolex watches in your suitcase, it's likely to be arrest and a court case. Just don't do it eh.
Of course, the capitalist western countries would be heartbroken if they knew you bought a high quality, good fitting polo shirt from Turkey for £8 which costs a disturbingly extortionate £75 in the UK.

knk onlar için abartı değil biz artık yaşaya yaşaya bağışıklık kazanmışız ama onların bağışıklığı o kadar kuvvetli değil onların ülkesinde çeşmeden direkt olarak arıtma su akıyor gibi birşey
Merhabalar. Antalyada musluktan su içtim sadece 1 kere ve sadece yarım bardaktı. Dizinteri oldum 10 güne zar zor iyileştim. 4 kilo verdim hastalıktan😀

@@anar_shahverdiyev lol as a Turk living in a western country (Aus), whenever I visit Turkey the water never affects me. I think our immunity is naturally better and maybe mine was passed down from my parents 😂

One thing tap water in turkey is drinkable and completly safe but it tastes a bit rough
As a Turkish person i can just give few VERY important warnings
1- don't disrespect Atatürk
2-don't treat stray animals badly
3-don't be overly aggressive towards people and look for fights, people here can be really aggressive and you might get hurt or even killed
4-don't try to hit on someone's girlfriend or wife, you'll get mobbed
5-don't make it very obvious that you are not aware of your surroundings, people can try to take advantage of it, especially to a taxi driver or a seller, bring a turkish friend with you and make them ask the price first before buying it if you can, this will avoid getting scammed!
6-don't be afraid to ask for help, turks love helping out but always be on the watch, make sure you don't follow anyone into very dark and quiet streets,
7-lastly, always remember that you are a visitor here, don't do anything that will go against people's culture and beliefs. This goes for every country and every human being. Visitors should behave like visitors. Just follow the rules and enjoy your trip!
Number 7 here is a problem for us in The West.
Its a good advice to wear earplugs when you swim in the beach, so you dont get very fine sands in you'r ears. You can get sick from it. Happend to me in Alanya, other than that it was a good trip :)
