  • Hey guys, here are my thoughts on the Sirui 50mm Anamorphic Lens.
    I've had this lens since February. I've been waiting for it for 3 months when the campaign started on Indiegogo. I was really excited to get my hands on it. The portability, weight, and simplicity of not rigging different parts and waiting months for delivery off eBay makes this a must-have for shooters and anamorphic enthusiasts alike, not to mention at an affordable price. Sirui is really on to something. I hope they explore this avenue in the future and create a line up of anamorphic lens.
    The wide angle converter I used is the 16x9 INC .7x Wide Angle Adapter (16x9inc.com/).
    The front thread of the converter is 95mm and the back thread is 72mm.
    I used this 95mm to 82mm step-down ring to put in front of my converter so I can put my filters and mattebox I have in front of it: (amzn.to/37ve3Gi)

    I mean do I even need to buy a 35mm version if all I have to do I throw on a wide angle adapter to get about the same focal length?

    I see the same like every review: loose lot of sharpness with wide adapter. Middle spot is sharp (but not the same like without adapter) all around is blurry. Plus you get greenish yellowish tint with the adapter (3:50). I don't like it. But my problem is the same: If I use this in MFT sensor, I get 100mm. Why don't make Sirui this lens with Canon ef mount (or 25mm to MFT)? With that mount I could use GH5s+Meta XL+this lens. :(
    Anyway, thanks.

    Thanks for the upload. Could you also please upload your set up and rig for the LOMO... I am really interested to see that as there is not much info on YT in that regards.

    I just got mine , today I shot some building but I think its useless without 16x9 Inc. EX II 0.6X Wide Angle Adapter as I have to go far back to get good competition :(

    Sir, I went through your link and saw converters adapters $ 199. They have different threads. 37.43.46. What is right for Sirui

    • @houseofintent
      @houseofintent  4 года назад +1

      Hey, Sirui thread is 67mm. If you can find a converter with a 67mm, get that. If not, get a larger threaded adapter and use a step up ring to thread it to your sirui. I have a 72mm converter so I use a 67-72mm step-up ring.

    Just got my Surui Friday and made my own 3printed gears on my printer. The IRIS took some extra work to get the outer surface wider but only grip on the thinner grip texture of about 5mm. I played with it today on my pocket 4k but really wanting some way to see wider and this should help a lot. I will order the wide angle adapter an may even try the fisheye adapter just to see what happens since I am on a mft sensor.

    Do you think 0.8x wide angle adapter would have been better to take care of some of those edges?

      Use Clear Zoom 1.2X or shoot 30 Fps 4K which has 1.2X crop

    Hi,
    thanks for a nice video.
    What would you say comparing quality LOMO lense to Sirui lense

  • @billzidis2656
    @billzidis2656 4 года назад

    Thinking of buying this lens for my A7iii.
    My ways of working with this lens would be :
    4K 25 Fps with clear zoom 1.2X
    OR
    4K 30 Fps which has already 1.2 Crop.
    Did you try any of these methods?

    Thanks for the vid love the info, but could you or someone help me? I got essentially the same package but the wide angle adapter makes everything out of focus. I have the Sirui anamorphic 50mm lens, which looks great. But when I attach a 16x9 0.6x Wide Angle Adapter, everything is out of focus and can't focus. I figured it would be easy to look up but nobody seems to be talking about what happens when a wide angle lens attachment makes the image blurry? Is it that uncommon? I found one forum that essentially ended with "it's cheap shitty glass". Which doesn't help too much. I bought it for 86 bucks on B&H. I use an sony a7s if that helps.
    Thanks for any help guys! I'm only asking here because a literally can't find answers anywhere and this is the only video I can find where you did essentially exactly what I'm look for.

      @redlaurieyellow 4 года назад +3

      hey! I have the exact same problem! I've been looking all over to find solutions. But you're right nobody seems to be talking about it! I was thinking that close-up filters may work? Because that wide angle filter needs to be used with a macro setting on your camera. My camera doesn't have that. It might have to be an experiment. I will let you know what I find, and let me know if you find a fix too!

    Please, i am wainting my Sirui and i would try it with the same adapt converter: may you write the exact diameter of the 16x9 and the diameter of the ring for it? Thanks a lot...

    Hey man did you figure out the thread? What size?

    • @houseofintent
      @houseofintent  4 года назад +1

      Hey the front thread size of the converter is 95mm and the back thread is 72mm. I used a 95mm to 82mm step-down ring to put in front of my converter so I can put filter and my matter box in front of it: amzn.to/37ve3Gi.

      It's just the adapter, not the lens. It's completely natural due to the physics of the adapter.
      You could zoom the lens with clear zoom when shooting 4K with no optical loss

    the wide degrades the quality of the camera

    • @houseofintent
      @houseofintent  Год назад

      Anamorphic is already is degraded by nature. They’re called anamorphic characters but they’re pretty much “flaws”. I also don’t shoot for my camera. I shoot for what I’m trying to achieve and the look that I want 😊

    what about teleconverter on the back so it covers full frame and then wide angle to make it normal 50mm again. would be dope to have full sensor

    I am patiently waiting for my Sirui to ship, and I just bought the wide angle converter and a 95mm variable ND to go along with it.
    Looking forward to testing it all out!

    5:19 Obviously by stopping down to f8, it makes the soft edges with the wide adaptor more usable for wide shots.
    For certain subjects, like florals and portraits, the soft edges are more acceptable, almost a "soft vignette" effect.
    Thanks for this effort to bring this very useful content!

    Every RUclipsr doing a Wide angle lens on the Sirui Anamorphic Lens but arent giving credit to Mathieu Stern who kind of did it first. TBH you couldve had this idea independently but... There are too many RUclipsrs doing it after him that is seems fishy

    • @houseofintent
      @houseofintent  4 года назад +2

      Hello, yeah he's definitely informative and was the first to post it up. More props to him but if you're into anamorphic builds, it's a DIY platform so naturally, a lot of people will try things with the lens. Putting a wide angle in front of a lens isn't a new concept, specially with anamorphic lenses. I did comment on his video that I was doing the same thing. I was also going to trying other things like putting an anamorphic adapter in front of sirui to see what'd I get but I've been working on this video since I got the lens back in February so I didn't want to keep postponing. Either way, it's all about experimenting and sharing :)
