      That's exactly what I say about myself, at one stage I was a hopeless junkie bad, really bad. I'd rob you as soon as look at you. Yet I'm clean now and importantly I'm legit happy took years, even after cleaning up. I did something dumb af, came off methadone straight onto a blocker. I'm tough, it nearly killed me truly awful. To be specific I dropped to the floor and layer in my own shit and vomit and drugs seem so glamorous let me tell you tbry are far from it. I have some very heavy croses to bear, there mine, I'll carry them. Unfortunately with all the help In the world most have to reach a point of true despair. I've never felt so bad, no respect no family love it was very, very hard and I'm tough as stated. Funny thing I used to think I was weak mentally, am I fuck you don't go through all that and come put without some real mental resilience. Not tk mention other health problems a stroke in 17 brain bleed in 20. Been very, very lucky. Nobody can hurt you as much as yourself. After long thinking about it all, I honestly think it was a kinda weird self punishment situation. I didn't deserve all that I put myself through. Please people, for the love of God, stsy tf Away from cocaine and opiates, your no different to anyone else, it will get you eventually. If you don't know how something feels, you can't use it as a crutch.

    I'm 6 years sober from alcohol. I smoke weed occasionally but alcohol is my DOC. Been to rehab 2x. First time was 30 days, second time was 90 days.. 2009 and 2012. Both times in rehab revolved around AA and NA. I didn't buy into the brainwashing then, and now. As others have stated, it works for some but not all. AA is good for the first year of sobriety. I don't feel it's necessary to keep going for your entire life. I don't make my sobriety/recovery path part of my personality. Anyhow, if you're reading this and struggling.. try going to a meeting and see what it's like. It might help.. but I don't feel it's necessary to disclose your entire life history to a group of other drunks/murderers/etc. at the meeting. Just realize there's people out there who are willing to help if you want it. BUT IT'S UP TO YOU TO MAKE THE DECISION.

      Solid take man! This is as someone who goes currently. It's definitely not for everyone and majority of people dont end up sticking around even of those who get long term time. Some people just need some years away from the lifestyle before they can drink or smoke weed again.

      I have 12 years sober from heroin/coke. AA/NA has a place and its actually required for an insurance to pay for a rehab facility but its antiquated. The community works for some but once you get your life together hearing everyone's horror stories and constant relapses isn't sane. In addition if you want to escape addiction you have to escape the life which includes AA/NA. Good for you on staying clean.

    I got 13th stepped and almost lost life. I just got 6 months sober for the first time after 5 years of trying. The man has 3 years sober and had been going to that group for 8.
    The group refused to acknowledge that this man raped me and assaulted me. He followed me around.
    I was told it was my "accountability" because they tell women not to talk to the men. I was told to keep coming back because I shouldn't run from my problems. They expected me to sit in a room with this man and act normal. Then his sponsor offered me $300 to have sex. I have never, would never. I was about to be evicted and I still told him to get fucked. I was told that was my fault too for even talking to the sponsor (who I had met before the man who raped me, and considered a friend.)
    It was one of the worst experiences of my life

      @@theeevolone I got that vibe at first. The “recovery” happens between the meetings anyway. The 12 steps have worked for me but there are definitely other ways to stay clean. Hope you’ve found what works for you!

    AA is the least effective way to get sober. If it works for you great. But for the 95% of people it doesn't work for you end up putting them on the wrong path of self-blaming and guilt and shame. Some people need to identify themselves as a victim and spend every day talking about it for the rest of their lives and making it their identity. If that's you then AA is your ticket.

    • @ShannonFreng
      @ShannonFreng Месяц назад

      Exactly. They don't like the truth spoken. That must have been a good scene, when Bill Wilson tried to convince the AA board of trustees, that AA should endorse the use of LSD, to overcome alcoholism.They basically told him he was fucked, then hushed it all up. That's the real AA for you. People just believe all this bullshit propaganda about it. The head office didn't give a fuck that women were getting raped, going there.

    Man I'm happy Steve o turned his life around but he acts like such a white knight now. It's like he is obsessed with being clean. It's all he ever talks about. I'm 6 years clean but I don't make that my identity.

    Lots of quality information regarding addiction at those meetings, it wasn't for me personally. People I don't know trying to hug me, nope. I don't like that shit, unless I know you properly. I will big them up though kept a friend dry for 10 years sadly gone now. Fuck i miss him. RIP bro.

    Getting sober is EASY. Staying sober is difficult. That is where the 12 steps come in. The problem is me not the drink or drug. Those are the solutions. The problem is ALWAYS me

    AA has a reported less than 10% success rate. But it is talked about as if it's the best and ONLY(cult behavior) way to get clean.
    As a person raise Jehovah's witness, the tactics are very similar.
