It won't last long. His soberness is only temporary.
He won't be able to live a drug free or alcohol life for long.

I’ve been alcohol and drug free since 05’. Weed, shrooms and a bit of acid led me to bipolar disorder. My friends continued on to doing coke. You see that your family are the only ones that care when you are institutionalized in a psych ward. Go to the gym 3-4 times a week and love my wife and kids. Dark days are behind me for now. My strength will be tested when I lose my parents. I hope I can be strong for my wife and kids.

Family is all you have at the end of the day. Friends come and go, it don't matter how long you've known them, adulthood especially young guys go through the same shit which in turn leads to a drug-depending friendship, where all you like to do is get fucked up together, take the drugs out and you have no friends. Sad truth.

I remember when Jackass first appeared on TV, I was finishing school. Being barely 12 back then, I just couldn´t believe the stuff those guys were willing to do just for the sake of entertainment, and Steve O was by far the one who did some of the gnarliest shit my eyes have witnessed to this day. So, having that in mind, It´s reasonable to say he was the one anyone could say would end up getting fucked up to death. But now he got his shit together, and that´s truly remarkable. If he managed to reach sobriety, anybody can. Also, huge kudos to Knoxville for having the initiative to get Steve O´s ass inside that psychiatric ward. Speaks lots of him.

My doctor was a parishioner of mine. I have since gotten clean but I am no longer a priest. I do go to a local hospital's drug rehab once a week as part of NA, have a meeting and talk to the people there. If you pray, please pray for me and know that I do for you, as well. (On what could be called a side note: I met and am in a very cool "serious" relationship with a Doctor of Osteopathy, which is an M.D. but with more study involved. Anyway, as one who went through the living Hell that I went through, it's an interesting place to end up.)

There isn’t a one size fits all for recovery, but you’ll never know what is going to keep you sober until you give yourself up and try, let others help you and help others.

I'm SO proud of my man steve-o! I have no pack (boo-hoo). My success (or lack-there-of) has been due to a lack of trust in those around me. I think Steve may have been speaking of AA/NA programs, but we all know he also has many friends at least I would assume. Wonderful to hear him talk about this and that he is still sober! Thanks, Steve-O!! We all hope to see you in many projects to come, in front of or behind the scenes, congrats on your engagement!

NA meetings are better if you're in the millenial category, AA meetings people are too soft if you're a heavier drinker, if you just have a problem with a few drinks and never did multiple different substances, you'll probably fit right in (not saying you're soft, just saying they're a little more kind and forgiving which can be a little much for people who have serious issues).

There’s other recovery than 12 step too. Smart recovery meetings, also speak to your local drug and alcohol services and see what support is out there. Social media can be good for finding local sober meet ups and stuff as well.

I love showing someone the THE WAY. I tell all the "old friends" that I can help them when ever. I know the struggles it's real living Homeless on the streets of Skid Row Los Angeles. I even got love from hella people in skid row shoot. I love helping people! It gives us purpose & really just spreads goodness throughout a life with such dark areas that need shined on for sure! I just hit my 5 years!!!

Isn't living life on life's terms without having to alter your state of mind an awesome thing.
It still amazes me all those years I had to have some kind of substance, drink, to "enjoy, relax, have a good time"
Makes me realize how weak I actually was.
    Great job SteveO

    • @johnnybravo5962
      @johnnybravo5962 4 года назад +1

To me it’s about the level of self control a person has. If you can take two hits of pot (bowl or bong and no FAT RIPS) or drink 2 beers and then call it quits for the rest of the night you don’t need to be sober.
If you however have to smoke pot until you sleep and when you wake up, or need to drink 8 beers at night you NEED to be sober.
This is why many people have normal lives while also doing some drugs, while some are better off never touching the stuff. It’s all individual. I drink once every few weeks socially but can’t imagine being loaded every night, I’d have trouble keeping my life together.
Weed is much less damaging as alcohol tho.... I wish alcohol didn’t exist.
