I’m getting the wartime big band vibes of the original & I can hear you’ve listened a lot to John Coltrane’s playing of this tune too mixed in with that whole Hawaiian thing, Santo & Johnny & of course a whole lot of blues & just the sound of these things always makes me think of Don Helms. Sounding good dude. Not sure if you knew this, but my late grandfather on my mom's side James Arthur Gay was a professional steel guitar player in Los Angeles way back in the day. Need to see if Memaw has any recordings.
