- Very often, during our home inspections, we find slow draining or clogged sinks; especially in the bathrooms. Under the sink, the drain has a loop at the bottom called a P-Trap that often get filled up with debris that prevents the water from draining out. In this video, we will show how to clean the trap and unclog your sink. In most cases, no tools are required.
Dude! The bathroom sink in my apartment has been clogged for about two months, and after getting tired of waiting for the building handyman to get to it, I decided to call a plumber for the job. But then I ran into your video first and set my mind to giving it a go myself. I did everything you did only I also removed the small section of pipe behind the P-trap because it needed cleaning as well. Just for good measure I used a small-job hand powered snake and went about six feet in. Then I put everything back together and PRESTO! No clog! All I can say is THANKS, MAN! You saved me some money and I got my bathroom sink back! 👍👍👍
So happy to hear this, thank you.
Great tutorial!!! I will check all my traps in my newly purchased home and feel confident doing so!😊
I now know why the pipe is S shaped. There was a purpose. Very informative 👏 👏👏 Thank you for for video. The debris is. Yukk!!!

Very helpful tutorial. Got er’ flowing again. Thank you my friend!
make sure to check the stopper mechanism, debris will collect around that, unscrew the nut, pull out the stopper rod, pull out the stopper, and see what you find.
Thank you ! Fantastic video so helpful 😀
Thank you
You are such a good teacher. I managed to get the drain to work but I cant get the metal plug to come out. What now just in case there is still gunk stuck in there.

im having the same problem. i did the same thing except that i disconnected the plastic pipe that goes into the wall and there was nasty black gunk in the metal pipe thats in the wall. i tried cleaning it out as best i can, but when i put everything back together the water started backing up after about a minute or so. Any advice, need a lil help
Great video!
Very informative, thank you! I tried this today everything was clean and clear. I pulled out all of the gunk and hair but it’s still clogged once I put the pea trap back on. I do have another bathroom sink on the other side of the wall and now when that sink is in use the water fills up the first sink I was working on! Do I need to clean out the other sink too? They’re both connected I think.
Hi looks like it might be clogged down the line. You may need to contact a plumber to unclog the drain unless you have drain auger. You can get one for cheap at any home hardware store.
I did everything you did in your video. I also used baking soda and white vinegar. Alot of gunk came out and I was sure I had corrected the problem. However, the bathroom sink still drains slowly. What else can I do without calling a plumber?
Hi Jim, sorry for the late reply. There could be many other reasons why your sink is slow draining. It may be clogged down the line. Please consider hiring a plumber. Thanks for watching our videos.
Hiii...the bathroom sink is my house is clogged and after watching your video i tried to fix it but i couldnt unscrew the stopper....what do you think i should do?
Hi I need help with my kitchen sink
What I don't understand is why I gotta do this every 4-6 months. The pipe keeps getting clogged up with nasty looking stuff
You can buy little filter that goes on the sink drain. Easy to clean once in a while and should keep your trap clean.
Did all of that and the water still not draining properly.
Then it is likely clogged deeper in the system. Probably best to get a plumber to check it out or buy yourself an auger and do it yourself. Best of luck
