My husband and I bought our first home recently and all three sinks in the bathrooms kept draining slowly. My husband is in the military so he’s at work more often than not and when he does have time at home it’s hard to get everything done. I decided to take matters into my own hands and found this video and got all 3 sinks cleaned out. Much needed because what you got out of the sink you cleaned was nothing compared to what our sinks had 🤢. Thank you so much!

@@MrKistel u and i both lol.and ur welcome. Alot of people dont seem to understand that its not always just the knowledge, but also in ur presentation. Especially in my line of work.I work in a hospital and youd be surprised how many times i worked with doctors who have no clue how to talk to another human being, yet they are intimidatingly intelligent..I always tell them, sometimes the answers arent in the books...sometimes people just want comfort...to be told theyre safe.not 'medical terms' etc...anyways good luck and ty again

I've been dealing with a slow draining bathroom sink for about a year and a half now, and Draino didn't help at all. I just assumed something was wrong with the plumbing. Today, I finally had enough of it and got on RUclips University in hopes of finding a solution. Thanks to your simple tutorial, I now have a normal sink that drains as it should have all along. @@MrKistel The downstairs sink trap was a breeze to clean but the stopper assembly + drainpipe is an old-style metal fixture that I didn't try to take apart, it's pretty well rusted and I didn't want to chance breaking it. Fortunately that sink's drainpipe is short and was relatively clear, so it was still easy to get out the gunk that was there. It's draining freely now. Thanks again !

Thanks! Even though I’d assembled this sink a few years before, I had no idea the upper piece linked to the drain stop could get so gunked up. I’d already torn apart the p-trap looking for the clog and that wasn’t it, so I sat down and watched your video. thank you!! i’m in college and share a bathroom with one other roommate, and our sink started to not only not drain, but also started backing up gross stuff that was stuck in the pipe. it’s a saturday, so i would have to wait until monday for maintenance. luckily i found this video and it was a super easy fix!!
turns out there was this sludge in the U pipe AND a huge blockage of hair like yours shown in the video. it was disgusting and smelled awful but at least it works now! plus i showed my roommate and hopefully she stops leaving her hair in the sink… because i do not want to do that again! 😭😂 thanks again for the video, it was super helpful.

That's true. I live in an old place and the u pipe is practically rusted on so it's alot tougher to remove as compared to what is shown here in the video. Still very informative

This is the reason I changed my sink fittings. After many years of having to dismantle , clean, reinstall these pop up lever type outlets and their gunge gathering workings restricting the flow, I decided to change to the pop up , mushroom click type. Much better , there is another type of plug which is good also. The plug swivels about its horizontal axis and therefore is the only thing in the outlet so no obstruction to gather matter. Had them installed when I lived in UK but not seen in North America.

I am a caveman or an ape when it comes to being handy-and that is an insult to cavemen and apes. But while my piping is slightly different, I was able to take things apart, clean them, and reinstall them a/o a problem, at least for now! Thanks, Joe. Please always keep Neanderthals like me in mind when you do videos. Thank you!

Gonna try this right NOW! I’m scared but u make it look so easy! Will come back to let u know how this worked for me! Fingers crossed!
Edit: I’m sad to report I couldn’t undo the curved pipe cuz my parts are metal, not plastic as shown in the video. Tried to remove the stopper part but that part is also metal and it doesn’t turn as in the video. Looks like I have to call a plumber for this
