It's worth pointing out that a new alien race was added since this video came out called the Leagues of Votann. A group space dwarves that strip mine planets and worship ancient supercomputers. Basically, it's what happens if you took Deep Rock Galactic and made it a 40K army.

I found myself laughing at the idea of orcs or tyranids wanting to band together or the eldar wanting to get rid of the only race keeping chaos not completely focused on them. Yeah she has much to learn
@@MrPsych77 Honestly eldars deserve everything that is coming at them. All this shit is their fault to begin with, even orcs as they did nothing to erase them completely for entire millions of years being a major player in galaxy.
They turn and move at whatever speed is convenient to the hack author writing the plot, like every other aspect of 40k.
And of course we can't forget THE most important part of 40k:
"Welcome to Hell, we accept payment in paper or plastic."
i still get sad that bricky did this before the podcast about angron, he is probably the saddest primarch story as he didnt want to be this angry monster, his ability took pain away from the people around him so whenever he kills he feels it himself
and bricky didnt know that at the time, he just assumed (like many others have) that angron just was that angry

This is one of my favorite 40k videos on youtube. So happy you loved it. Bricky is amazing at selling you on a hobby and his excitement is infectious.
I love what brick has done for the community, i do wish he was a little more accurate on lore sometimes. There's room for embellishment for entertainment's sake but i feel at times he just gets stuff wrong, which is a shame because the lore is confusing enough as it is already. That said, he's a great entertainer and fun to watch.
Great job chat we got her to fall into the Warhammer rabbit hole, it's deep as heck and a bit intimidating to dive in but is also amazing and fun so I'm glad we got her to check it 😊

One thing I love about 40k is how it wears its inspirations on their sleeve and does their own thing with them like Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein, Dune by Frank Herbert, and the Foundation books by Isaac Asimov. And that’s not including the inspirations they carried over from Warhammer Fantasy too. It’s like a collage of fiction that comes together to form this badass and over the top story.
LOL, one guy in chat said "The Emperor is a horrible person and I would die for him." That's honestly a good way to put it.

I really hope you watch the other two parts, alongside finishing this video. Bricky's energy is great and is a great resource for anyone looking for a quick overview of the franchise.
If you want to start binging a series based on 40K after watching Bricky's videos, I highly recommend you watch If The Emperor Had a Text-To-Speech Device. It's the most entertaining way to get to know the characters of this universe.
Also the position of Rat God is already taken (in the Fantasy version of Warhammer) and he's a big douche lol.

He did the space marines dirty. So many chapters within the space marine legions that are so iconic. Like how the blood angels rage comes from the psychic imprint of their primachs final battle and death at the hands of Horrus. They literally relive the final moments of their Primarch's death.
I've been waiting for this,I love that warhammer is becoming more popular for react content seeing people get into it reminds me when i was getting into it
100% you gotta check out If The Emperor had a Text-to-Speech Device if you're going to deep dive Warhammer 40k. The series is increasingly hilarious the further into it you go, and as an added incentive you'll get some damn good JoJo's Bizarre Adventure references amongst others. The creators have also split off into other series, Half-Life: Zero Viscosity, and Hunter: The Parenting (based in the White Wolf tabletop franchise flagshipped by Vampire: The Masquerade). TTS and HTP got me into their respective franchises properly, for which I couldn't be happier. If you enjoy creators having passion for their work as well as generally having a goofy fun time with it, you'll love these guys and all that they do.
I will make a simple analogy for the astronomicon. You are holding up a lightbulb that pets everyone, friends and enemies alike, see the minefield they have to walk around. The lightbulb also burns you. You cant really direct it or block it from anyone because you are also holding back a putbull trying to savage some babies. Those babies are also holding up the platform you are standing on. You and the babies need to suffer so everyone doesn't die.
The Imperial Guard's tactics are basically just "Apes together strong"

Fun fact for the Mordian Iron Guard, the ones who focus more on making their shoes shine? They repelled an entire Nurglite Chaos invasion by themselves with no Space Marines as support, the Mordian Iron Guard are just famous for following protocol to a LUDICROUS degree, they will march shoulder to shoulder, fight shoulder to shoulder, never breaking ranks. Oh and the forces of Nurgle? They are the most durable of the forces of Chaos, multiple bombs to kill them and they leave corrupting diseases where ever they march, and the Mordian Iron Guard survived and booted them off the planet

My favourite chapter is the Blood Angels but I feel like he didn't do explaining the basics of them credit. Blood Angels don't just thirst for blood and become angry, they all inevitably become mad with rage as their vision alters to see enemies, or even just other people, as Horus himself, and they enter the same fury that Sanguinius felt when he charged at and fell at the Warmaster's hands. It is inevitable, it is incurable and the kindest thing the Chapter can do for them is to paint their armour black, stick them with a Chaplain [he's kind of like a priest or morale officer of sorts] and send them on a suicide mission so they can die heroic deaths instead of lashing out at their own brothers.
Also, one method they have to hold back the Black Rage is mandatory art therapy sessions. They will make artworks of every kind, and of course since they're Space Marines, they are good at it.

My favorite lore, both Fanon and Canon, is the Orcs. They work off of Peter Pan magic logic. Their ships have rolldown windows for drive by shootings because they don't know there's no air in space. They paint things red to go faster and purple to make them sneaky. One orc went through a time rift and ended up seeing his younger self. He murdered him to get a second copy of his favorite weapon, and it was ok because nobody told him about time paradoxes. People speculate that the only reason why decapitation kills them is because someone was sufficiently convincing when threatening a group of orcs and the idea memetically spread through the species.
Bricky's overview is very memey. Its accurate to an extent but its mostly an intro to Warhammer 40k. To let you know how deep Warhammer can get; there is a 5 hour video on one character. But bricky is perfect for an intro.
The amount of lore is insane.
I bought almost 200 books over the last 15 years.
That's more than 25% of all Warhammer books from what I heard, impressive.
I have some old ones with retconned stuff in them like squats and an eldar embassy on terra.

You should also watch “Every 40k faction is bad and here’s why” by Arbitor Ian. It’s about moral badness btw not trashing the setting. It’s gives a lot of perspective and I think it’s be a good react.
Arbitor Ian is underrated in general. He has some cool videos about like the real world stuff like past editions and stuff.

Honestly, after this, i'd recommend looking at the chapters of space marines from bricky, then taking a listen to Cadian Blood (a song from HMkids i think) and Rylanor's last stand (another song)

Warhammer 40k is basically the final boss of fandoms. "Would [X] survive in the 40k Universe?" is a measurement every character inevitably comes up against.

As I always say, 1. Being gay for their Primarch is more of an Emperor's Children and Fulgrim thing and 2. Everyone was gay for this dude and wanted him on their team, Khorne and Slaanesh both made conscious efforts to get him but being best boy they failed.
But yeah Bricky's videos are a solid enough starter point for getting into 40k lore, granted it is best to take a fair amount of his explanation with a grain of salt as it is an older series and some lore might have changed or been explained. Also if you don't mind crass and crude language Majorkill is a good channel for quick lore videos.

The Imperial Guard is surprisingly robust. You would expect a force that sends hundreds of thousands of soldiers to need an overwhelming number advantage to win, but when fighting Orks and Tyrranids, they can often be outnumbered 10 - 1 and still win. Some of the Imperial Guard's military commanders are better tactical masterminds than most you would find in even the Space Marine chapters.
Watching everyone in the chat going "FOR THE EMPEROR!" and I'm over here like "WAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!"
so the reason that Bricky, when talking about the primarchs and said "The emperor created twenty... [pause] *EIGHTEEN*" is because canonically, the Emperor created twenty, but during the Great Crusade (the war where the emperor spread the imperium across the stars, reclaiming the lost settled worlds), two of them, seperately, betrayed/irreperably failed the emeror and he had them executed and their names expunged from history.
thats the canon reason. the real reason is so that players for both Loyalist and Chaos space marines can make armies that do not fit as successors to the other 18 named primarchs.
"What are they gonna do? Turn around real fast?" i mean... YEAH. Space marines are deceptively fast for their size... like, disturbingly so. Like, it triggers the brain of those who see it the way that the uncanny valley triggers the brain. Something of that humanoid shape being over 8 feet tall and with that bulk and in that armor SHOULD NOT LOGICALLY MOVE WITH THAT MUCH SPEED AND AGILITY IN THAT WAY! not to mention that they are excessively strong, can spit acid, have two hears, a third lung that can breathe in any environment, blood that clots almost immediately, wearing that bulky power armor like a second skin... they are a force to be reckoned with
