I was liking the framing on this one - you don't really need to see your feet for this takedown. But hey, you're probably the only grappling channel with actual camera work 😁
The camera was too close. RUclips videos can get into hundreds of thousands of views: theres always going to be people who need to see the feet and legs.
The only time ive been kod it started with this takedown done almost the same way except my guard was passed before I even hit the ground, it was a pretty high slam lol. Moral of story basic wrestling manuevers become advanced wrestling manuevers when done by an advanced guy. Also don't pick fights with guys who have cauliflour ear.
love the video, people need to know how to do a simple shot to the legs. its super useful even in self-defense, it can turn into more than just a double
Blast type takedowns are the only method recommended by my coach. He ridicules me (in a friendly way) when I try to perfect conventional double & single legs. And he does always manage to show how instantly anyone can be taken down with a blast without trying to wrap hands/arm around knees , get head in the right place etc. But his technique is a little different to this, from doubles coming straight on he headbutts the solar plexus then does the takedown. For single legs it is a single movement shoulder into the side and only one hand needs to grab leg, and not even that strongly.
In my experience I have to be careful shooting a blast double on taller and heavier opponents. I know he addressed the head position, but I'm telling you if you get sprawled on well enough with your head square to someone's solar plexus, you're gonna have a bad time. Ive had my neck tweaked many times like this and I'm convinced there wasn't a whole lot I could've done to avoid it either than being faster or just using a conventional double leg.
Bro I love your channel... my son 8 wrestling 9 months I'll go over your moves wit.. he thinks I'm cool... he don't know I'm going over your drills.. he be beating at practice...
Awesome videos Brian. I wrestled all the way through high school at a pretty high level, and am struggling with the transition to shooting takedowns in Jiu Jitsu without ending up being guillotine choked. I train mostly in a Gi, do you ever do any Gi tutorials? Always enjoy your videos brother!
good making the distinction to what is a blast double because all double legs are taught to cut a corner since sprawling more likely kills squared up attacks like this. the key is to not get so low, so this works great for a street situation or mma
Is it possible to do it without putting the knee on the floor (bad knees), i guess if the opponent isn´t too low it should be fine right? So just level change a bit but no knee on the mat.
Blast double can be a great reshot technique, fake shot or you were snapped down to a knee or both. Your level is lower but still can be very effective, can switch off to a outside sweep single , further throwing your opponent off his game
I was thinking the same. Seems like a high risk move for the neck .. Too easy to jam the neck . Or worse yet , what if the opponent explosively/violently sprawls on you! The head on the side double leg seems alot safer. Even with the risk of being caught with a guillotine.
That's the thing about the blast double. You can't sprawl on it. If you tried, your opponent will get double underhook. You're better off getting your own underhook or try to avoid his heads pressure.
Wanna ask. I really like blast doubles, but it often happens to me when I shoot just to pull my opponent back, but can't finish the takedown... Don't know where exactly I make mistake. Thanks!
What was your actual injury? Scraped knee or something else? You can do the same move but just crouch and get low without putting your knee down. Can you talk about the fight you had on the street and what happened?
Dude no they wud be on the ground and if u hit the back of his head ur knuckles wud break go street fight a wrestler and try hitting his head while hes taking u down see how far u get
4:44 technique starts
Hey guys... sorry if the camera work was a little too close. The cameraman was on his first day... be kind. 🤙

Lol. I was writing to ask you about the neck when you started addressing it. I've tried this and hurt my neck in the past.

Brian has a video addressing this issue
Will try it for sure cool technic to avoid freaking guillotine.
Nice move, great guest, and good camera work. (You mention it being too close, but I think it helps to see some details.)
Great video and really informative, changed my whole prospects on double legs

Love the blast double. Just curious coach do you teach striking, kicks, etc at your gym?

Yes for sure! 🤙
Thank you coach once again

Drilled this today, it was great :) good to see your vid about it later after :)
What’s stopping your head from pushing backwards and snapping your spine? New to this here to learn

Aggressive forward motion
And collapsing the knees to torque the person backward using that aggressive motion
Also practically speaking, drill some lethway stuff it will probably help in a roundabout way
how do you get out from under a sprawl if you shoot the blast double?
check out his drag out video

Love love love this channel I want to come out and train with you one summer I’m gonna start saving up hopefully next year lol
Wow just wow this is what every human being needs
@@SereneJudo thank you kind sir
How about this technique in a gi...would it be the similar set up by avoiding the collar grab?
Wanna ask. I really like blast doubles, but it often happens to me when I shoot just to pull my opponent back, but can't finish the takedown... Don't know where exactly I make mistake. Thanks!
Can you tell me what happens with this ,but un MMA and street specially forma cage?
I do this a lot in BJJ and manage to get it but always seem to end up in guard.
He looks like a runner :-)
How not to hurt my knee on the asphalt if i did it in the street? Happened to me once totally injured my knee...
What was your actual injury? Scraped knee or something else? You can do the same move but just crouch and get low without putting your knee down. Can you talk about the fight you had on the street and what happened?
Coach, wouldn't your head be open to strikes on the street?
Dude no they wud be on the ground and if u hit the back of his head ur knuckles wud break go street fight a wrestler and try hitting his head while hes taking u down see how far u get
Lol they’d just kick you or knee you in the face
perfect rugby form lol
This guy also has really long arms, making it easier to reach back of the legs
to blast double properly u have to have pretty decent athletcism and most bjj guys today really dont so only certain guys will be able t use it
this move is alpha as fuck
skip to 2:30 for actual content
You’re the real mvp
I like to DO this one .....it works all the tíme when top bjj PlayerXtreme use it. I LOve this one its safe for bjj go elahead bjj players use it
What happens if he throws you/rolls you/counter with his knees with that takedown?
