  • Your factory Tacoma recover hook is a solid piece of steel. Just use that!

    Best explanation/review I've seen done on these things for sure. I have a 2010 Tacoma TRD 4x4 and have wanted to put a set of recovery points on mine for the longest time. Unfortunately I have yet to find anything for my year truck which is still pretty much stock. I ran across these Demon Brackets a while back and at first I was excited to finally find something that would fit but after looking at them more closely I immediately became very skeptical. Thank you for taking the time to create this video. It is much appreciated. My search continues. Uhg!

      Im glad the video was helpful!
      If you have the factory front hook I showed in this video you should be fine for light to moderation recoveries; you don't need to buy anything.
      If you want to spend some money, ARB offers a stout front recovery point.

    I just saw these for the first time 2 days ago, and my first thought was that it's the sketchiest piece of "recovery" gear I've ever seen.

      If I came across someone stuck I wouldn't recover them if demon brackets where the only option.
      This wouldn't be me being unempathetic, it's just not safe.

    Thanks for the info. I think people only put them on because of how they look. I don't really care how something looks it needs to work every time. Guaranteed people are pulling them off after your sledge hammer test.

    These brackets are for show only. Dangly bits. I have them. Like them, but would only use the factory recovery bracket.

    Has anyone ever used these for anything other than for decoration?
    They seem dangerous if someone is trying to use these and they’re not aware of what they’re mounted to.

    Deamon brackets are for nothing more than hanging dangly bits. That’s what I have em for. Factory bracket for recovery.

    Nice video but how are you mounting a hard shackle on the front. The ones you show are just for a receiver hitch. Thx

    • @jdesigns7239
      @jdesigns7239  Месяц назад

      The block that goes into the receiver takes hard or soft shackles and I have a front receiver.
      Hope that helps, thanks!

    I was gonna “upgrade” to these but I think I’ll stick with my factory recovery hooks

      I’m not sure if Demon is a particular brand of these. I had similar ones on my Tacoma for years. Seems like more welds are mine. I’ve never had any issues pulling anyone or being pulled. I’ve never been in a hardcore rescue attempt, mostly pulling someone out of the mud or water. Like I said…never an issues with Estes.

    Thanks for the video. When you use “that fancy aluminum thing 😂” is the pin might be the weakest point and what pin do you recommend? Plus what brand is the “fancy aluminum thing?”

    • @jdesigns7239
      @jdesigns7239  2 месяца назад +1

      It's a Factor55 block.
      I can't say I've ever heard of a hitch pin failing when used for a recovery. The pin is in double shear, so it would have to be sheared in two places simultaneously to fail. Im sure the pin isn't a weak link.
      knowing that, you don't need a fancy pin. just buy a Reese or whatever is at Walmart lol. That what I have.

    You should show yourself being towed with it. Instead of beating otnto death. Most people just want the looks and moderate towing. Does ot work to tow with or not?

    • @jdesigns7239
      @jdesigns7239  23 дня назад

      @@arjones2330 I’m no expert but I’d said Demon brackets would be fine for a tow, there just can’t be any hard jerking or snatching while doing it.
      Definitely just for looks.
