@@collectingcars vitally important. Another great @collectingaddicts episode. Although you could up the volume a bit as these are a bit quiet compared to the ads 😂
Agree. I have to have the volume set to max in my car, then when my daughter asks for Disney songs instead of boring car talk we have “Let It Go” at 130dB.😂
Small story about my driving song recommendation. Fairground by Simply Red. I drive a 630hp Toyota Chaser, finally got it re registered after 2 years of being off the road. Wrnt though a whole lot of headache getting all the mods engineered to government standards. Finally got it sorted at the department of transport about 30minutes from my house. I was so excited that it passed inspection and was issued new plates that i forgot to put them on the car in the carpark, I just through them on the passenger seat and left. Driving down a surprisingly empty local highway, 6am, not a car insight and i vaguely hear the chorus of Fairground come in, naturally I turn the volume up, windows down to hear the exhaust note and gently drop back to 4th and roll onto the throttle, back up to 5th and the car is just singing perfectly at a rapid rate of knots! It was a perfect clear autumn morning and that was the perfect song for a perfect moment. Loving the podcast guys. I feel like im chatting with friends around a table after a few beers even though im not participating.
A delightful quirk of this show is the fact that there is only about a 40% chance of them putting up a picture of the car they are talking about when Chris says, “We’ll put a picture up of it now…” 😂
I looked as my subs this morning. YES, the Beano has arrived. The excitement of Collecting Addicts arriving is just like that feeling of excitement when I was 6 years old. (A very long time ago). Keep going guys, so enjoy laughing with you. Thank you all.
Exhaust - M5 - spot on. The diameter, the spacing, the metallic finish, the low set, flush finish. Perfection. The Murcielago was a highlight too - finishes off the stance and look of the car. Could stare for days.
Brilliant as ever, some hilariously funny moments whereby I nearly fell of the chair multiple times. Can't believe it's 11 weeks already either. AS we're all of a similar generation (there or thereabouts atleast), these Podcasts resonate with me completely. It brightened up a sh1tty day and a worrying time, so thanks again and keep them coming Gents. 👌👍
These podcast videos keep on getting better, i bet that if they did a whole car-show doing road-trips together and driving different cars around a couple of tracks it would be very cool and successful, hopefully this keeps on continuing and never stops
As much as I am definitely not being of the same generation, at 27. I don't always know the cars they talk of but sharing the passion is still there, loving these.
Jensen Intercepter - can’t be beaten for a car name. Guys, best episode yet. So funny, so original, so natural. Seriously, the most entertaining thing I’m watching on RUclips currently or anywhere else for that matter. Sound and picture quality is better, so whatever you’ve done, it has improved things.
I have fallen behind with these podcasts and currently playing catch up but wanted to leave a comment to say that they are so entertaining and going from strength to strength. My favourite so far!
Manish as an Indian absolutely amazing to hear those stories. That highway has changed since 2011 btw. Now its a full fledged 4*4 cordoned off expressway and its awesome. I can't even remember how many times I've been to the taj mahal. Great place.
Thanks for the shout-out of my home country (Australia), it is rather lovely here and yes we have gone a bit ridiculous when it comes to speed, unfortunately.
You guys are fantastic thank you. I’m only 21 years young, and i want to break into the car industry at some point in the near future. You guys are giving me great knowledge of cars thanks you. From and English lad in Aus, correct Neil it’s a fantastic country, about to get into a van in early may! Keep doing these episodes. Love them!!!,
On Neil's recommendation in the podcast, I have just watched the Parkinson - Peter Sellers interview. I have never really paid much attention to Sellers and his work but that was a very insightful interview to what seems to be an extremely complex character. The Richard the 3rd rendition straight off the cuff was outstanding as was the story he re-counted about Peter O'Toole. Thanks Neil, that has been a bit of an eye opener and I think that I will spend some time looking more into Seller's work. The Pod cast continues to be excellent, thanks guy's.
Best episode yet, they've all been brilliant so far but this one takes the biscuit. I've not driven many great roads, as a resident of Canada most of the roads around where I live are dead straight and potholed to heck. A couple of years ago I bought a Mk6 Volkswagen GTI in Vancouver and drove it home to Edmonton via the BC-99 highway, a fantastic winding road that weaves up through Whistler, Squamish and Pemberton. However, there is nothing like a good French back road imho, recently I experienced the D533 from Saint-Agrève down to Valence in the rhône valley. Stunning road, I was sat in the back of a Renault Traffic being driven at high speed which made me feel quite ill, but the entire journey I was constantly imagining what it would be like in a Peugeot 205 GTi or similar.
Australian 1975 Ford Falcon XB hardtop, John Goss special for me. 302 Cleveland V8, 4 speed manual, two tone green and white with an orange racing stripe. Look it up people, it’s stunning. Thanks for the podcast gents

I left school as a fresh faced 16 year old in 93' and started a 4 year mechanics apprenticeship at a Ford dealer. Being of that age for me its the Escort Cosworth but not for the reason you might think. Again it's the back story and as was typical back then it was a case of Ford doing something without 2 pennies to rub together. They took a Sierra Cosworth floorpan and dropped an Escort 3 door body on top. The width and length difference being the main reason for the flared arches and different front and rear bumpers. Everything was bodged together underneath (don't get me started on the exhaust!) but they knew it would work, because the Sierra Cosworth did. It sold in spades and probably resurrected the RS brand which carried on thereafter.
Best road, Highway 17 from Terrace to Prince Rupert alongside the Skeena river and snow capped mountains with not a town for the complete 100 miles. It's pure bliss.
Personal reply to the favourite Ford question. The Mk4 Fiesta complete with the Yamaha 1.25 engine. Simply because that was my first car and that's the biggest game changer in any car enthusiasts life
Well done Chris, W&P or Radford Minis, de-seamed, oval rear window, square headlights. used to see one when I worked in Marylebone High Street in the late sixties.🙂
From the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand, drive the State Highway 25 around the Coromandel Peninsula, then take the coastal road on the way to Auckland. Best done in March or April.
Neil Cliffords tale of travels in Australia was wonderful and I may be mistaken, but I think he was a little watery eyed at the end there. I spent 6 months traveling and camping in Australia in a Toyota Hilux and agree with him, it's a beautiful place, with fabulous people. Recommended to anyone who wants to sell up and get off the treadmill and escape until money or time runs out.
Best automotive podcast series I’ve listened too/watched. Keep it going gents 👍 Regarding exhausts? I’m biased but my favorite is the original xflow exhaust on a 1700 Supersprint. From childhood, the first car exhaust that I noticed was from a Maserati Quattroporte 1968. A neighbour of my parents had one in Hong Kong and I stood behind it as it was started up one morning and my white school socks got spattered in oil but I looked down at those exhaust tips and thought, phwoar! My first Janspeed exhaust purchased from the hands of Keith Rip (Ripspeed) in Edmonton UK fitted to my avo rs2000 was another 😍 moment. The rolled lip at the end of that silencer was magnificent. And lastly, the pair of upturned exhaust tips on a TR6 (at full tilt) are just gorgeous. Tune of the day: Montrose, Bad Motor Scooter 😎👊👍

Another great podcast, guys. Here's my picks for the topics you talked about: Favorite (fast) Ford: Escort RS Cosworth. Favorite road: N222 from Peso da Régua to Pinhão in Portugal, or pretty much any road that goes along the river Douro. Best exhaust design: Pagani Zonda. Cars with fast names: MG Metro Turbo (sounds more like really fast public transportation). F1 chat: couldn't care less, skipped that part. Peter Sellers 2 car garage: Bentley S3 Continental Drophead in the UK and a Ferrari 500 Superfast in the US. Driving tune: Primus - Wynona's Big Brown Beaver
Gents, bloody love the podcast. Keep them going please! May I politely suggest a great driving tune for the Spotify playlist? Eric Clapton, Bad Love. Listened to it as a kid with my dad in his E34 535i. Calypso red, cream interior, silky straight six. My dad at the wheel with a killer pair of Rayban aviators and a solid early 90’s ‘tache. Used to feel like a god in that car when he bought it new from Altwood BMW in Maidenhead. Thank you!
Did anyone see the dogwatching and trying to paw the door open on Ed's screen 😄 Loving the discussions as always gents, new background very pretty and clear
Thank you for another great episode not sure it was fast, but my favourite Ford was my first car, a bright yellow, mk1 Fiesta Pop Plus, nicknamed Marigold! best international road, always enjoy the trip to Le Mans from Calais, or a bit closer to me - the road from Mazeirah to Moreeb in Abu Dhabi Emirate - a 25km road that twists and rises and falls through the start of the empty quarter

I’m on the Spotify playlist it’s great. My fav fast Ford is the Mk1 Escort RS Twin Cam in Ermine White. I still think The Chain is an amazing car tune, not just because the break and the bass is mind blowing but my whole childhood that was the F1 theme and that was my call to the sofa to sit down, shut up and watch the F1 with Dad.
For me the fastest sounding name has to be 80s craze... 'TURBO' I used to be mesmerised seeing it written down the sides of Renault 5s, RS Turbos, 911 & 930, Saab 900's Alpina's.... basically any black on black 80s car with red decals and badging is perfection imo.
The best Ford for me was the Lotus Cortina. Coupled with the late great Jim Clark circa 1963, hoofing it round Snetterton, at least two wheels airborne! Two legends.
Off work today and put this on before I go out. Loves these podcasts. Erm Fav fast Ford for me is Ford Mustang Boss 429 with 375hp and NASCAR engine. GT40 is the best because of its place in History. So many great Fords though. Since I am 45 the Ford Escort Cosworth is upthere that car was the poster child for boy racing. Capri RS3100 and the Perana from South Africa. Americans have best names as a kid I bought matchbox cars due to names. Amx Javelin, Mustang Mach1 Twister, Mercury Cougar Eliminator to name just a few. Interceptor is great name also .
Fantastic as always guys. Great lol moments. My mum worked at Haynes of Maidstone, I remember many a showroom wander, and dreaming. I wonder if any of you have done something to upset the foreign press.... for instance, (Chris) at LeMans leaning on the bonnet of a VW Sharon so the driver can burn out! Question, what car has the longest name and best abbreviations. Question, which is your favourite and worst car badge.... Ferrari & RR, worst Vauxhall and Skoda imo.
Bmw broke the capacity / badging alignment way before '99. They had 1800s badged as 316 in E30 & they did some stuff with turbo 7 series in the mists of time too.
Yep, the X Pack fitted the Capri and RS2000 Mk 2. But I don't think Bodie and Doyle ever had X packs on their cars....I stand to be corrected. We fitted 3 back in the day - all RS2000's. They were very expensive and entailed equally expensive wider RS alloys too. There was a very tatty one on Arthur Daley's forecourt (back in Terry's day). Capri and Cortina S had Bilstein suspension in the day....all had great handling, great gearboxes and were great driving cars. BDA more relevant to me than the DFV despite the great sound. Mk2 RS1800 was the rarest model (very expensive at the time)
Great episode thanks v much. Favourite (not best) fast Ford for me was the Mk2 Fiesta XR2 - quite an eye opener as a teenager going from a 1.1 with long gearing. Best exhaust - there is something very iconic about the old (pre 964) exhausts which poked out of the back corner. Not beautiful but somehow very purposeful looking.
So I listen to this on my journey home so don't see your fabulous faces. However, the talk of the road to Formentor made me tingle. I was on said road 2 weeks ago driving some shitbox Chinese SUV (a dr 4.0, €20k of Chinese reasonableness) rental, trying not to kill the bloody cyclists and listening to a squealing wife who really wasn't enjoying it one bit. Loved it. An empty road and my M140i would have been great fun for sure. Agreed, great camber, good surface, hairpins. Absolutely fantastic. Another fav was a loop I did in Cyprus once from Paphos up to the ski resort and back down. Landslides, snow, sun and all in a Nissan Note Auto that had seen far better days that's for sure.
First comment? Huzzah….
Congratulations! 🤠
You should be proud, ring ya mum and let her know, huzzah

Great episode thanks v much. Favourite (not best) fast Ford for me was the Mk2 Fiesta XR2 - quite an eye opener as a teenager going from a 1.1 with long gearing. Best exhaust - there is something very iconic about the old (pre 964) exhausts which poked out of the back corner. Not beautiful but somehow very purposeful looking.
Terrific musical choice by CH this week, 'Day At The Races' live at Brixton Academy takes J5's masterpiece and twin turbocharges it
White is not the inconel, its the ceramic coating on the exhaust to keep temps down
i have tuned ultimate green rs focus mk2, top 3 fwd car ever.
MK 1 Escort RS1600 , DDF416L was mine !
The Pagani exhaust is made in Germany by MHG-Fahrzeugtechnik

I would love to see a live chat panel and just see where there conversation would go
So I listen to this on my journey home so don't see your fabulous faces.
