The best version yet!
I used frequently to see the YT's....NO, not You Tubes but the MAGNIFICENT Young Tradition. They were simply AWESOME & 'ruled' the London folk clubs in the sixties. Peter Bellamy & Heather & Royston Wood ~ what a powerhouse of unaccompanied 'folk' they were! They'd invariably do Byker Hill on a gig, & what energy & attack they'd put into ALL their songs!! Privilege to have known & seen them...only Heather survives in NYC USA aged 67. 'Bleater' & Roy died years ago & are VERY MUCH MISSED,
I believe that there best song was bring em down
As well as byker hill
This music is the real deal -- vital, authentic! More, please! Thank you! Merle
Excellent rendition. I've heard this in Byker and in Walker but rarely with this enthusiasm.
This is the second person that I have heard sing this song. Thanks for posting this.
TYT used to frequent Falkirk Folk Song Club at regular intervals when I was a girl and left this, amongst other things, in my heart
This is excellent! Heather Wood and the departed members of TYT were mentioned. Heather Wood gave Alison Kelley and her singing partner of several years Ken Schatz their band name The NexTradition because she recognized that they were the TYT of a newer generation. All the singers here from the New York chantey scene are top notch!
What a voice!
Did you see the knockers on that broad?
She's a big girl and a bonny girl.
