Using Heaven as a benchmark is flawed in several ways ..... One, you never rely on a single benchmark or game .... Two, Heaven is for testing DX11 performance and tells you nothing about how tweaks will work with the much more relevant DX12 ..... Why? Because DX11 is a high level API, has limited threading abilities, and a simpler FIFO shade pipeline and most system tweaks wont' affect is so much. On the other hand DX12 is a low level API, has nearly unlimited threading abilities, a parallel and out of order shader pipeline and is more sensitive to system tweaking with things that help threading and memory performance
Another big no no is letting Windows install drivers, it's only a matter of time before that bites you in the butt ..... I've had to reflash half a dozen laptops or "Winpads" that got bricked by a bad Microsoft driver update.
He's also using a card that's like 6 years old that can barely generate frames so he's got to use the easiest thing he can plus he's just trying to show I haven't I got 28 I put Atlas on okay haven't I got 33 I think your philosophy I think he understands that
Wholly agree on this, personally I use a combination of Geekbench 6 and 3DMark, so i can cover DX10-12, OpenGL and Vulkan. Can't even tell you how many times I've optimized my graphics for DX12, only to have a DX11 or OpenGL game run like total trash with the same settings (Use profiles people, it helps).
What you suggest contrary to heaven then, Hell?

I don't know why people are going mad at atlas os well i have it installed on windows 10 and i have a high end pc , for me it runs fast I haven't notice anything yet so everyone has their problems but stop bitching about altlas os dont install if you don't like.

I have in my setup, a server that I do my important stuff on and use my PC for gaming. When I saw the title I had to watch and I came to the same conclusion, the juice just isn't worth the squeeze. Thanks for going thorough all that, it was really informative. As for privacy, I disabled telemetry and such and for a browser I use brave with AD blocker and for me, it's just right.

heaven is too much gpu dependant, barely uses cpu... i am pretty sure that using a benchmark more cpu related would have returned a more noticeable difference.

I started making my custom iso and automated all the reg tweaks and scripts(netfx3,dx9,vc++ etc). I have made it with using wintoolkit,ntlite and w10ui targetting windows 10 &11.
You Need to Treat Atlas More Fairly. Atlas does NOT recommend NOT using an anti virus - you can use anything you like - Just Not Specifically Defender because of it's association with MS and their shady dealings. Atlas is just a version of AME that is more geared for gamers. That's all it is. You get all the protection from MS like AME gives Plus any benefits for gamers.
You have 160 process on a fresh install, I have 165 running process on a full gaming and driver installation with the MW2, PUBG, Apex and all the drivers for SSD running, Mouse, keyboard, Water Cooling. Bro not gonna lie, come back after you installed all of those you will see your number go up to 200 a reduce your gaming experience. (I also have video making software, straming, spotify and so on)... 160 for a fresh install is almost Original Windows 11 without a bunch of spybot
Just got it a few days, it's been faster but yes, it can break a lot of stuff... would recommend just using Vanilla Windows with CTT's tool.

Out of allot of the out of box options I've tried CTT is the easiest but you can still do all that yourself without the tool. But the tool does make it easier
I've just been using my own made from scratch Tiny11 I made following CTT's instructions. (To prevent bad files from an internet version of Tiny11 from being on my system.)
What did it break for you? I believe the goal was to insure that everything that works in vanilla windows also does in ATLAS (with the exception of the things you disable, of course.)

I prefer Revi OS. It does the same but if if you haven't noticed, with Atlas OS there are some devices that are disabled and I want full compatibility. Also with Revi OS you can enable or disable Win Defender if you ever use that. I use Bitdefender instead. Telemetry should not exist as standard and Microsoft should be sued by all people that use Windows! Our data is OUR data and we are not sharing with anyone! And you talk about security. What about security against the Microsoft's telemetry? This is the solution!

Type things are making windows 11 just like a swissed cheese version worse than Windows xp . it don't make sense .
actually its quite good for privacy and performance on lower spec device. if you are on capable spec device or high end device, you wont notice any change in term of performance. but its sure improve your privacy. yes it can be done manually, but for those who not tech savvy enough or dont have much free time to go through hassle, this could be very good option.
honestly, it's never going to be a silver bullet, but it seems that your system is probably a worst case scenario for such an optimization as you're most likely GPU bound in the first place.
however, if in the case you've got an older pc, you've upgraded the videocard, but you simply can't afford the CPU, RAM, and mainboard to do a proper upgrade, something like Atlas might just be the difference between playable and unplayable in some games as it's reducing the CPU and RAM overhead.
would i use atlas on my gaming pc? absolutely not as my ageing RX480 is the only thing holding me back, so atlas would do basically nothing for me there. however, I do also own a Pentium N3700 notebook (circa 2015) which despite having 8GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD it does tend to trip over itself frequently enough, to the point where maybe something like Atlas OS would be worthwhile, although i'd probably try Chris Titus Tech's optimisation tools instead
Completely agreed. Windows is now pretty much a spyware in disguise, collecting telemetry and phoning home at random intervals is what lowers your performance and increases latency the most. Things it shouldn't be doing anyway. Doing a heavily GPU bottlenecked benchmark shows exactly nothing.
CTT script made some issues for me, using smart card readers is my edge case scenario, but excessive battery drain when the laptop is off though is something that you should verify for yourself if you decide to run it. Both my R5 5625u and i5 1235u use battery when off thanks to the CTT script.

i think it is about reducing the interruptions and load on your cpu for lower end pcs + you have a bottleneck with i5 9th gen and gt1030 that why you did not see a difference in bechmarks (still agree with you on some points)

@@Britec09 i think you should take a look at the benchmarks on their website and like do your benchmarks yourself with a more gaming focused setup and alot of the fonctionnality that you talked about is not necessary for gaming as it atlas os is mainly for gaming and not for general use /also the 1000+ fps you talked about is a video from notro dan video and they pinned his video on their website the same way they pinned linus and it is fro marketing of course
unless they found a way to "upload" more transistors to the GPU,such claims are impossible.@@Britec09
I will test some more, there is no doubt that it debloats windows and reduces system recourses which will be great for older systems. But I am not convinced yet you will see massive gains in FPS no matter what system you use.

An OK video, but you've entirely misrepresented the Atlas stance on Windows Defender.
Go back & watch your own video, 12m mark. When configuring options the recommended option is to ENABLE Defender, not disable it!!
Yes you can do these things yourself, but it's certainly not quick & easy and would require a lot of Internet research and experimentation.
Only use official, unmodified ISOs from trusted sources. These modified versions aren't worth in many ways.

Atlas is NOT a modified ISO. You install 23h2 ISO from MS then run Atlas to to tweek settings for the better.

There are an infinite number of use cases, the default windows experience being a fairly crappy one for power users who want as much control over their operating system as possible. "Trusted source" microsoft doesn't really care that their OS by default is a privacy and security headache.

The default settings are aimed for stability, to make things work out of the box and then to please the large majority of users. Those custom Windows ISOs or scripts that make heavy system changes worsen the system stability and will likely create annoying situations for people who don't know what those tweaks do.
With "trusted sources" (I can't believe I need to explain this) I mean a site that offers ISOs that haven't been tampered by random people, for the bad.

There are a few versions of these light Windows OS. They are all amazing, huge reduction in memory and latency. Unfortunately can we trust them? Anything at the kernel level avoids antivirus software. Therefore any malicious code is not caught. That is inasenly scary and im not sure it is worth the risk.
I dont think 9th gen i5 is really old enough to say old pc, itll run anything you though at it just fine the weak point of the pc i see is the 1030 i would run a 1060 or 1070 depending on cost and be perfectly happy. Now a 4th gen sff pc with intergrated graphics would be a better example to test this on where it would be the difference of deciding to keep using the pc as a daily driver or retireing is for a newer pc. Also 1 benchmark isnt enough of a matrix to show anything useful.
doing a GPU heavy test on a weak GPU (no bottleneck by CPU) to test a Windows OS tweaked for RAM and CPU optimisation i think we need more test then just that

Well Brian not being a gamer myself I just make the observation that it is becoming such a rigmarole to get a decent gaming performance and I would go mad if I had to do all this plus I don't like having to reinstall Windows as it is such a pain in the rear. But this is a good video mate for those who do game.

better off being realistic what to expect from P.Cs. if you have an old P.C then don't expect the same performance as a modern P.C. if you have a modern P.C then the real world performance will probably not even be as noticeable as the broken stuff will be.

because its work like demo and pre-processing all the frames before
using kb and mouse in a game gives more relative benchmark
Benchmark is a sure way to find an accurate result which will be identical testing with tweaked vs stock, its just a basic test which should of shown an improvement

the cpu load with heaven 4 is very light
even With the OS will have same heavy apps running it wont change much the score
OS is running mostly on top of the CPU
if the game engine is light the diff wont be noticeable
game engine like cs2 that should load cpu
quite much, would make diff between stock vs tweaked, bkg apps running

One thing I did notice that many ppl don't bother with, a very simple thing that it does help sometimes, because even tho it should be automatic, apparently it's not!
On your graphics control panel (the icon for NVIDEA or AMD on your taskbar), go to the menu where you chose/add the profile for your game executable file and:
> Set Power Management Mode to *_prefer maximum performance_* and
> Set the OpenGL Rendering GPU to *__* (NVIDEA control panel > Manage 3D Settings).
I don't recall what the names for the menus/tabs are for AMD Radeon control panel but it has something like that as well.
I know this is not an end all/be all _"solution"_ BUT in my particular case those were the 2 settings that made all the difference regarding FPS in my LAPTOP with a 930MX nvidia chip.
True but that can be also said for your CPU if you always run the laptop at max performance/High Performance.

In my defense, it's not like I play 24/7 every single day. Just a few hours a week.

Remember, mine is an old machine so I am taking some liberty with it and like, it may work for you, it may not work for you.
Also, again, in my case, from 20~25fps to 49~53fps... I would argue that's more significant than ".1 lows" as you suggested.
Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm also using that in combo with a program called DGVoodoo, since the game I play is quite old.

Hi, Already run this on a 12yo Tosh laptop before Iv seen this vid my results in taskmanager were
Before:
RAM 1.2Gb: CPU Processes 104 Threads 1220, Utilisation 4%: Boot speed 19 sec
After:
RAM down to 800Mb: CPU down to 57 Processes, 720 threads, Utilisation UP to 5%: Boot speed 14 sec.

i use atlas and omg so smooth even with my custom theme i created its still useing less then 2gb ram on startup with nothing open but my skin and mica when it was 4.5 gb before

I have to agree with you I tried the Chris Titas tweek but it turned things off I actually use. It work ok but I also ran into an unstable system. Now I just turn off the things I don't want.

You can just Install OS Specifically for gaming and browsing and not care about anything else. or to make use of old computers to give them purpose. Give Old computers to those in need Relatives that cant afford... In other countries Its always buy new trash old on everything... There are other people in the world who cant even buy 1 component of pc who's in need/ want to learn but cant afford... If only people could realize that they're not the only human being in the world we might solve climate change easily by sharing. I got lots of parts from Internet Café who closed when pandemic broke-out... AMD A8 7600 series with R7 APU. Not that much at all but can still be useable. Most of the ones I've already built was running Linux an was smooth as butter and can pretty much can do anything except for gaming of course. It seems windows 10 abit heavy for it to handle so im trying to see if i could do windows 11 + Atlas OS to make it viable for windows pc.

all anti cheat have a windows backdoor or a way to work on windows.. the anti cheat will have admin rights in any windows system so i dont think it will be any issues.
The situations where you can get issues is when you use systems that wont allow "full admin rights" by default..
I believe and trust that windows have made sure that any program you run that require full admin or root rights get it by default. You are safe

I wouldn't stop windows defender if you do that and install another anti-virus it will just slow your computer way more than any gain you get from Atlas OS. Don't do it.

This may sound like a strange comment (maybe even impossible for some), my computer is not updating anything or check for updates now .. 100% .. it only load the clip.

Thanks for clarify things up. This is the problem with PC gamers nowadays. They get too obsessed with latency, ping, FPS and percent lows. In fact, percent lows will always get rekt no matter what you do. It's the game that keep compiling stuff. Not the hardware issue really. This is really disappointing to see that it didn't improve anything and everything that just being told are just lies. Would you risk your games components for gaming? I won't. Imagine breaking the game components just to gain few margins of errors FPS. What a contradic. Nice job, show more testing and proof videos like this. It's really needed for those who think optimizing stuff will always improve FPS. In some cases it does if it proven and you have seen the benchmarks yourself. At this point I don't really know. Maybe I will start using the vanilla again. It's full of bloats but at least I don't break anything especially with game components where to get all these FPS gains, you need to go through game crashes, games not launching, files missing etc. This is so sad. But vanilla are just full of bloats and I didn't like it. I am so torn right now. It's hard decision to make. Would you advice?
this guy is either making misleading video or he really don't know about anything. u aren't supposed to see any significant improvement when u are bottlenecking with ur gpu, even 1% and .1% lows, cuz ur cpu is too free to keep things up. but does it improves latency? yes, there's less cpu cycles and interrupts

You are complete garbage, nothing should happen to the Windows ISO. Does this tweak software always need to be updated? The answer is no because they put it out there and did not focus on the Windows update. There have been some changes on the Windows, therefore, it really didn’t work out. Also, I searched on RUclips and never saw any comparisons between Windows 11. For this reason, they just attract some audience with dramatic claims of lower ping and better gaming performance. @@m4b9 TLDR; He should have tested with CPU bounded instead. Test in GPU bound should have make a difference in term of FPS, but don't expect very huge magical boost like they claimed. This test is not wrong though, just 50/50 valid. He should have tested both scenarios as well. CPU still have more to give if GPU is not the limiting factor.
The really scary thing is the users that are most likely to use something like this are the same idiots that download and run Pirated games and software which is extremely risky even with Defender enabled ...... With no Defender they'd probably be hacked before they installed their third cracked game .......

Try install win 11 lite gaming
after downloading it, it says you need to reset the password before signing in. It ask for my old password a new password and a confirmation password. I fill in the information and it says incorrect username name or password (I am 100% certain I entered the correct password ) what should I do?
Installed it on my wife's older Alienware with Windows 10, and there has been a *massive* improvement with WoW Dragonflight. It does in fact run much smoother than before. I did however re-enable Windows Defender after installation of Atlas, to be sure. So there are differences in benchmarks and running actual games in different hardware and software configurations.
You can negate much of the affect of Defender in games by turning off "Controlled Folder Access" and then go into Exclusions and make a folder exclusion for each of your main game folders which is especially important for multiplayer and Live Service single player games especially those made by Ubisoft
Theres a program called "DControl" by sordum. It lets you control windows defender as a whole by one click, its very easy to use and safe. Been using it for about a year now when gaming, and performance gets slightly better after turning off windows defender completely.

Is it possible to install Atlas OS on top Ghost Spectre? I reckon in theory it's possible but I hesitate to do it but it should work. Ghost Spectre does have its own ISO so reinstalling and upgrading Ghost Spectre shouldn't be a problem even if you install Atlas OS on top of Ghost Spectre. If it's not possible, is it too much to ask if Atlas can check if Ghost Spectre is installed and will refuse or warn to install on top of it for safety reasons.

Best thing is to learn do things yourself it takes time lots of time but then you will be able to make your own windows copy. Im on win 11 pro and happy to share it so you can test it and see its even better than atlas os. my windows uses 1.7 ram after boot while connected to 65" screen. and when you dont use mouse cpu will go to 0%. there are also no errors in event viewer. no interruptions windows store works when i want it to work and updates are only updating when i want it to update whatever i want to update. no dism errors and such. but i been learning since windows 7 all by myself.

Been using CTT's tool for quite awhile on my win 10 install with no issues at all. My process after start up and all things loaded are around 70-75. I'm sure this tool is ok but I will stick with what's been working for me. Nice vid though thanks for the info.

I'd rather try Linux and see what it's like. Whatever OS you have has it's pros and cons.
linux is good, have used it for years. You need to learn a little to use it effective but we learn as long as we live. There is differences but i think you can handle the switch if you give yourself time to learn and adjust to the change.
I would start with a dual boot, 2 SSDs and a boot menu. That way you can reach your windows files if you need them and whatever happen on one system wont affect the other.
You can also use a wm to get the first feeling for it, its a bit easier to fix if you do something strange but it will add limitations what you can do.
The perk with a dual boot setup is that you dont crash your windows boot loader, you can pick and choose between what os you want to use with the linux boot loader or you can set your bios to "windows boot loader" and your original windows boot is back unaffected.
Windows use "windows boot loader" to start windows, you cant start windows by choosing "windows 10".. Its a windows thing and i have no explanation why they do it that way but i never think or believe that windows makes things easier for their customers. Its a "once burned and burned many times after that" situation.
A linux install wont fuse with your windows install, they are isolated. If you install 2 windows on a dual boot they "fuse together" and when you remove one the other can crash.
You can change, remove and use your linux or your windows system in any way you want and the other system have no clue what is going on.
Linux also support "move between computers" so you can move the SSd to a different computer and it will update itself and work in the same way it did when it was a part of the dual boot system.
linux has far more performance gains than Altas.
Sorry, I have been working with computers for nearly 50 years and I have learned long ago to not fool with programs that either you have no way of verifying the validity of and checking for the following (1) virus, (2) adware, and (3) malware. I will let PROFESSIONALS like you with throw away machines take the chance. I also learned that you never throw away usable machines as well. You refurbish them and give them away to someone who can continue to use them but who normally can not afford them. Thereby, keeping out landfills empty.
as long as lite versions uses more than 1gb ram , they still useless for gamers

This was from there website 1% FPS In VALORANT, we saw a significant improvement in FPS lows. Boasting a more stable, and higher framerate. 217.5 FPS -> 365.91 FPS.

@myth1351 all the old computers with modern GPU will have bottleneck, so what your saying is that it won't improve performance on old systems? use 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th,6th gen CPU with 1070, 1080 at 1080 and your have bottleneck, that is a pretty common setup for old computers. Remember that is why people want to use AtlasOS to reduce system resources and improve performance because they are using old hardware, the creator said that to me last night.
@@Britec09 lmao what, try to read properly? and it's ur gpu bottlenecking in this case tho, tweaking and debloating the os won't help much on gpu bottlenecking cases, do u think ur 1030 is "modern" and "highend" enough? sure, it's modern but not even related to midrange, it's a low-end gpu, I can say even the 2400k can bring up 1030 very well, and u are using 9400 with 1030, which atlas absolutely won't help much when it comes to avg/min/max fps, what atlas or any modified os/tweaking tool does is minimizing ur cpu resources, not gpu, though they do, really minimal. ur gpu can't handle more while ur cpu has literally no stresses, that's why u see almost no improvement in avg fps, and just testing avg/min/max fps doesn't make sense, what actually will decide ur experience is the 1% and 0.1% lows, if u aren't going that deep, atleast test out 0.1% lows? I'm sure u can see some improvements there. u should stop doing these videos if u have no idea what u are testing against

If you are running benchmarks on a computer which is already struggling with the fps, you won't notice much of a difference. However if you do it on a computer that can comfortably run the benchmark (with high FPS) then you notice a greater difference with the FPS.
It's just Windows kinda "debloated" with less microsoft process. Honestly you can gain benefit on a laptop but not on a high fps PC. It's actually the opposite you're saying :)

CPU Usage: 2% - Background processes: 44 Heaven Benchmark: FPS: 378.0 - Score: 9521 - Min FPS: 67.2 - Max FPS: 598.8

After:
RAM down to 800Mb: CPU down to 57 Processes, 720 threads, Utilisation UP to 5%: Boot speed 14 sec.
N.B. You will have to install via Rufus with the first option ticked and install on a GPT drive with UEFI or windows will fail install

@@Britec09 W10Privacy has beside privacy almost every windows setting with colorcodes: green is safe to disable yellow depends on the user and red not recommended. disable the annoying logon lockscreen, notifications/suggestions, background processes, option to remove/disable background store apps.
you can replace windows with something better.. windows isnt the only OS in the world.

Love your videos and learned such a lot I have a question for you I recently got an intel 8700 cpu from ebay and the temps are horrrible on it. I have re-pasted the cooler even tried another cooler on it same results is the cpu a gonner or is there a way of bringing the temps down it. I use a noctua cooler and thermal paste works just fine with the old 8400. What are your thoughts.

What are the current on the CPU? You could try to reduce the power draw with an voltage offset

The original ISO of Windows 11 version 23H2 nowadays performs better and faster than the tweaked version. Those people are not needed; they are useless. JUNK ISO ; only very old pc can install this iso

I don't understand Atlas is the original ISO of Windows 11 23h2 that YOU download and install from MS, you then run the Atlas script to tweek Win11 for the better AFTER Windows is installed.
i5-9400 9th gen cpu may seem old but has the TPM2.0 built in and was made for windows 11 so that CPU wont show any improvements i think they were talking about 4Th gen and lower cpu Improvements
