Holy crap thats a cam only, I recently swapped a LM7 I built into my 99 ws6 mine is cammed 216/220 .560 114lsa I also put flat top pistons and ported the 862 heads I just need a good tune seeing your truck is very encouraging that 5.3 kicks ass!
I knew by watching it wasn't only a cam engine..I have a 5.3 in my mustang I just ran a 11.9 with a 3500stall ls6 intake,z06 cam and shorty headers.. with 410 gears in the rear..
Well your mustang probably weighs more and he probably has a stall and full exhaust/intake. Stock block with cam and supporting head work is what this is. 👻
By cam only do you mean cam + bolt ons + tune + sticky tires lol? I'm sorry, it's a very nice truck but when I hear "cam only" I think of a bone stock truck down to the exhaust with just a drop in cam. Basically these days though "can only" has come to mean a full bolt on/tuned car with a cam but not heads. Either way the 5.3 truck engines is one of the best bang for your buck setups out there. 5.7 LS1s are becoming cheap too, but You can pick up a complete 5.3 for under a grand, stuff it into any chassis you wish and make 400+ crank HP without touching the shortblock. Good stuff indeed.
Well, considering the S10 didn't come with a 5.3, stock 5.3 exhaust wont work, and if you install a cam, and exhaust to fit the truck, it would only make sense to tune it so it will run right....
Actually stock manifolds fit just fine in an S10 of that era, so the fact remains a "cam only" 5.3 S10 would be a stock 5.3 with a cam. This is a full bolt on/cam/slicks truck.
How bout, after the manifolds, does that fit just fine in an S10 of that era also ?The fact is this is a stock 5.3 with a cam and stock 5.3 exhaust wont work, and if you install a cam, and exhaust to fit the truck, it would only make sense to tune it so it will run right ! Add slicks for traction...

Leaves at 3400.. on the two step....shift at 6,000 rpm.....I'm going for a 9 second pass this week ..car has been 10.40 in 1/4 mile,127+ mph on a 125 shot.shifting at 5,000 rpm..... 6,50 in the 1/8 Mile... shifting at 6,000 rpm...yup we gunna up the shot ..just a little..🤫..lol.... Will post run on my channel....

Actually yeah it’s still a 5.3 with a cam. Not sure what the trans and rear end has to do with what’s in the motor. It’s a TH350 btw.
