obsessed with this channel, what ive fund watching Sam is i need to take the chance to expand my portfolio. new shoots, locations, trying a different aesthetic. love it -heyshahed
Sam, I’ve been binging your content these past few days and been subscribed for about a month and I just have to say I really love your work. You simply produce and create amazing art and it’s inspirational. Thank you for all that you do and the content you provide. I hope all is well and much love.
I only do photography as a hobby with occasional paid work and have been questioning myself on whether I should even have a website but this helped a lot. I think I may actually do it soon to start building a brand.
Absolutely love your portfolio Sam, has to be one of my favorite ones I've run into so far. I'm 3 months into photography and really loving it. Probably a bit early to start a portfolio but this is was a great video . Thanks for sharing!
I appreciate your calm non-sensationally way to put this. I'm diving into new endeavours and creative challenges and you just helped me to distill my thoughts to the essentials again.
Watching this for first time and wanted to THANK YOU! I am in the beginning stages of trying to create my side hustle in landscape nature photography. Very helpful!!
Thank you so much! I'm creating a photography portfolio for a job and you helped me understand what I should do. Your photos are amazing!!! P.S When I saw your name I just smiled b/c that's my little brother's name. It's such a beautiful name!
I've been searching for the same topic, watching different videos, but I think this video blew my mind. it's like I have a better vision of what I want now,
Wow, I really enjoyed this (much more than I expected). Watched it from my phone, while taking a dump (like most of us here 😂) and I didn’t want to leave the bathroom until the end! Well done!
Thank you so much for this extremely helpful video! You shed light on many key points and common thoughts i have that really make me spiral and not be efficient so thank you for this straight to the point self-aware prespective!
I've been searching for the same topic, watching different videos, but I think this video blew my mind. it's like I have a better vision of what I want now,😜
This is such a helpful video! And the work is incredible as always. I'd love to see a video critiquing other's websites, like you were saying about having outside opinions. I think it would help give an even better idea of what's helpful and what's not if you were to look through what subscribers send in and give your thoughts.
Thank you Sam, I have two questions: what platform do you use for your portfolio website and how/where do you get the cars/models for your photos if you don't have clients or work to present yet?
Hello Samuel, congratulations for this video! I was looking for something like this lately so I could sort myself out with my photos. I am a photographer in progress and I still do not define a photographic style very well (something difficult because a few years have passed). My interest in photography was for landscapes, travel and surfing but we know that there is money in portrait and couples photography. I was very confused if I had to create different instagram accounts for each type of photos, it was crazy! Now seeing your portfolio, I understand that it is necessary to have your own style. I just added the subscribe button, keep it up!
Wow you inspired me, and I on and off being doing photography, I still used films, and thinking about the Fujifilm GFX100 just to have one, even if my wife disappeared, lol thank you for sharing.
Love the video Sam, thanks. Question though: What do you do with the thousands of photos you've taken, if not hundreds of thousands of photos? How often do you go through your archives and think, man these were some awesome shots even though they aren't current or usable for my current portfolio?
Hey bro, how did you manage to get that drop down menu on mobile? I've been looking on how to do it, or some kind of code but I can't seem to find any!
Great video. I love your content and portfolio. I'd love to create a lifestyle and branding portfolio, but I have no idea as to how to get people to model. I've attended some great photo meetups, but most of my work is just nature.
Mel, lifestyle work uses people that are not necessarily professional models. Start with asking friends or family to pose for lifestyle photos. There are so many freelance/instagram models that would love to collab with you I'm sure. Just make posts or story post on Instagram asking if anyone wants to collab with you because you are building your lifestyle portfolio.
I know that that´s a very generic question, It depends in many factors, but, in general, what do you think a good amount of photographs to put into a portfolio?
Love ur work man. Just wanna clarify with u, I don’t see u using flash for shooting portrait? Do u think natural light is the way to go rather than flash ?
I've seen some other artists say that you should stick to a theme/story when creating a portfolio. What do you think of that because I see that you have a completely different approach - post only your 'masterpieces'?
I really NEED this lockdown BS ( I live in Melbourne, Australia ) to be over so I can do my photography passion ugh 😂 I’m really sick of the city I live in PREVENTING me from taking photos. Great video 📸
What you need is a flyer. If you actually want to get someone to see your shit, go up to them and give them a booklet of some of your best work, and why you think they should hire you.
